Welcome to the NFL Pick-Em Prediction Pool Discussion Thread.

The pool will use the Sleeper.com app to place your weekly predictions which start on Thursday night of opening weekend.  
The contest will extend through the NFL season and post-season, culminating with the Super Bowl.

Sleeper makes entering your predictions very simple, and doesn't take more than a few minutes.
The rules to play are simple; pick the teams that you think will beat the spread prediction for that week's matchup.
Picking against the spread is a little more complex than simply picking the winner, and adds to the challenge.
Predictions will be made for all NFL weekly matches, up to 16 matches per week.
At the end of the contest, the participant with the most points (i.e. highest number of accurate predictions) wins the competition.
The number of winners will be determined by the number of participants.

It'll be awesome to have you!  I'm sure you'll have fun and it's a good opportunity to learn a little about our favorite sport, which may or my not be inappropriately named.

You've got as good of a chance at guessing right as anyone.  

Sometimes having too much knowledge about the game will cause you to overthink the predictions.  Don't ask me how I know.

No worries.  Get your payment in as soon as you can, but the deadline to join isn't until the morning of Sunday September 15th.  Even if you miss predictions for the first week and the Thursday night game of week 2, you'll still have a good chance to perform well in the pool.  Good predictions during the playoffs will more than make up for missing some during the regular season.

BTW, I'll let the comment about the Chiefs slide.  I'm not still bitter from February or anything.  I mean really, it's been like 7 months, and I'm over it.  Really.

Can't believe I joined this as well hahah.
Croatian TV started broadcasting these games last season, they are really late in the night but I tend to wake up regularly due to kids now so I plan to have a beer or 2 at 3AM when shit hits the fan so I'm glad I'll watch this a bit then.

Not really clueless about the sport, I watched Superbowl regularly and know all the rules, but I know nothing about the players and which teams are good or not. Consider my buy-in as a donation and let's see how far blind luck takes me here.

I got the app link thanks OP! Just wondering if there's any way we can submit picks without the app? Website doesn't seem to have this option. I like the app don't get me wrong, just don't like it sitting on my phone. Call it a GenX issue.

Apparently not but on the bright side, it takes like 15 seconds on the phone to get the job done. 
Each team's point spread is ~1.91 so it's basically a pick em' for each game (unlike Superbru).

I fully expect to crash and burn, but let's see if I will have any fun doing that. Sometimes it isn't bad to enter with lower expectations. I have seen jeremypwr mentioning this in "my" BSFL chat on SB telegram so I will do a bit to promote the pool on the chat this Friday as well.

I'm not counting anybody out, and least of all the Croatians! 

We have 12 participants signed up already, and I'm expecting at least three more.  Trying to talk my brother into joining as well, but he's being a whiney little bitch so far.

I extended the deadline to join to just before the kickoff on Thursday September 19th, just before the start of week 3.  Hopefully we can get at least 20 participants before that.  Once I lock up registration we can talk about how to divvy up the prize pool.

It took me maybe 30 in the end, but only because I kept going back to change things. I've picked them with a touch of football handicap thinking and perhaps very outdated ideas of which teams are stronger from maybe 3 or 4 seasons ago haha.

Unlike Superbru this app doesn't lock picks.  You can set all your picks today and modify them up until the game kicks off.
