Self-Custody is a right. Say no to "non-custodial"

Being reluctant about emergency funds as a Bitcoin investor has it's consequences, which is why no investor should ignore it, emergency funds is not something to joke with as you're a long-term investor, cause it is the protective measure that should be embark upon by every Bitcoin investor.
For me, any Bitcoin investor, I mean someone that is investing for a long-term, that have not started creating emergency funds, is just joking because, an investment like Bitcoin without such separate funds that we can rely on to Carter for your emergency needs, will definitely lead you into withdrawing from your hodlings, which might mark the end of your Bitcoin accumulation.
A reserve fund is important not only because it gives you available funds to live on if an investment turns out to be a long term one. Reserve capital is also needed so that you can buy more of an asset if you choose a less than optimal entry point. Therefore, besides an emergency fund, you should also have additional reserve capital that you can use flexibly for investing. A "reserve fund" in the context that you are using emphasizes buying the dip rather than DCA, and this thread is about DCA which is also superior to buying the dip. You seem to be wanting to suggest that buying the dip is better than DCA, which it is not. Do you want to argue about your claim? or to make your claim more directly rather than proclaiming that buying the dip as if there is actual value in maintaining a reserve fund that would be used for buying dips that may or may not end up happening rather than just using some or all of that money (that you would otherwise put into your reserve fund) to buy bitcoin regularly, persistently, consistently, ongoingly and perhaps even aggressively (in a DCA kind of style that is largely agnostic to dips and/or prices)?

1) Self-Custody is a right. Resist being labelled as: "non-custodial" or "un-hosted." 2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized. 3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Therefore, besides an emergency fund, you should also have additional reserve capital that you can use flexibly for investing. Why much emphasis on reserve funds @Cryptmuster, when you could just keep buying always using the DCA and continue boosting your portfolio. You sound as though the major thing to do with our discretionary income is to build more reserve funds rather than continually buying some chunk of BTC consistently and building your portfolio. You could also read the points of Sir JJG for more insight on this. If we are able to figure out our discretionary, we must be consistent to buying Bitcoin and also building our back up funds, as well as trying also to place some amount for your discretionary consumption. Perhaps, every investor must be careful to ensure they doesn't mix there priorities wrongly in putting more attention to what doesn't matter much. Investors must ensure to strike a balance between there income allocation into different segments of there investment and there personal lives to ensure steadily and progressive investment journey. Much emphasis on reserve funds points more to relying and/or preparing and waiting for the Dip so to buy from it, when we don't even know when it may happy. DCAing consistently is more important and reliably good for building our portfolio in a long run.

Therefore, besides an emergency fund, you should also have additional reserve capital that you can use flexibly for investing. What having reserve capital does is that it gives you the option to be able to buy more bitcoin when the opportunity arises. But make no mistake, it should never be treated as a guarantee that you will be able to improve your entry price. These are the kind of takes that encourage most folks to keep idle money sitting on the sidelines and waiting for a dip that might probably never happen.

There is no right time to invest, every time is a good time to buy Bitcoin. Because Bitcoin is still in its early stages. A person who waits for a good time right now will only be left behind and may never build a portfolio or buy with that amount of money. Every time is a good time to buy Bitcoin, instead of waiting for the right time, it is a better decision to continue buying continuously through the DCA method. Instead of saving separately to buy aggressively during the decline, if he combines that amount of money with his continuous investment and continues to buy aggressively, then he may get a better result in the future instead of waiting.

The essence of keeping a reserve fund is to protect your bitcoin investments and to buy the dip when the opportunity present itself. You shouldn't emphasize much on the reserve fund as if it is the most important thing to consider when kick-starting your bitcoin investment. Your discretionary is split in three parts which is to invest in bitcoin and the other parts is used to build your reserve, emergency fund and for discretionary spending,so given special importance to your reserve fund over your dca discretionary allocation is wrong because both play a vital role in your bitcoin investments. you should also have additional reserve capital that you can use flexibly for investing.
This is where you get it wrong, your backup fund isn't meant for regularly investing in bitcoin rather discretionary income. however, even though your backup is build from your discretionary income, there is a separate discretionary allocation that is used for regularly investing in bitcoin and not your backup fund.

These makes me to give a direct answer to the heading of this thread. "Does the DCA strategy inspire newbies to invest?" Yes it does! Definitely, talking about reserve fund in the crypto space for flexible investing fortells the tendency of hoping or waiting to buy the dip which is not an ultimate idea. Having a reserve fund can likely happen as discretionary funds increases and in such situation, an investor can instead increase their buying percentage which implies being aggressive instead of keeping reserve fund out of increased discretionary funds.

In long term Bitcoin investment you need to have a strategy of buying frequently but you will get a high amount of Bitcoin holding. Waiting for the price to fall will hinder building Bitcoin holdings because you have to be regular in investment for strategic reasons. To understand this every time is the best for Bitcoin practice the dollar cost averaging method and start Bitcoin now without wasting time. If you want use high leverage, you can use it to make your portfolio bigger but the most advanced strategy is dollar cost averaging or DCA. The DCA strategy teaches you investment discipline in every price situation through discretionary income and plays a helpful role in increasing focus on Bitcoin stacking.

Dude, you just quoted the wrong person, JJG was not the one throwing emphasis on reserve funds but you quoted him instead of the person you are talking about and I believe that is wrong because you can not quote another person and be replying a different person that is misquote, even though the person's quote is embedded in the post. However, I think it will be wrong for someone to be paying more attention to reserve funds instead of thinking on how to grow their portfolio because reserve funds doesn't grow portfolio but discretionary income does.

A lot of those asking for the perfect time to buy bitcoin are always the ones with the short term mindset, they are not here with the mindset of holding for a long period of time before so that why they kept on asking for the perfect time. There isn’t perfect time to invest in bitcoin and my advice is that if you want to buy and hold for a long term then we should consider using the DCA strategy so constant buying at any price so we would have the chances of seeing a successful outcome in the future. Stoping ourselves from buying and waiting for the perfect time will just be us watching a good opportunity passing us by and we might end up regretting it in the future, regretting why you didn’t bought at such price.

While you may be fine with DCA, the leverage issue seems to be going in the opposite direction. We know that DCA allows us to buy Bitcoin regularly within our means, considering the risk. Leverage, on the other hand, is a term that means that you take on risk from someone else to expand a position, which increases the risk of liquidation or forced losses. Especially a newbie struggles to adapt to the volatility of Bitcoin. Adding leverage there means that it is no longer a matter of calm savings, but rather a matter of betting on price fluctuations.

There was no need of putting aside some much more money in the name of building a reserve funds as a result of an increased discretionary income instead of quickly and/or directly increase your DCA buys within the week or monthly depending on your cash flow. If by chance, a pleb is opportuned to have an increased discretionary at anytime, then it is cordial or normal that it should reflect positively in his regular DCAing amount, because the main aim should be to build your portfolio consistently and not keeping aside for raising reserve funds, which otherwise seem to be a preparation and/or waiting for the Dip which we can't outrightly predict when it will happen or if it will happen.

The essence of keeping a reserve fund is to protect your bitcoin investments and to buy the dip when the opportunity present itself.
This is wrong! The emergency fund is built to protect your bitcoin investment and not the reserve fund, that is why it is seen as the most important backup fund which has one specific purpose of acting as the last line of defense preventing you from tapping into your portfolio for survival or to solve unforeseen financial challenges. It is important to build your emergency fund alongside your accumulating bitcoin until it is at least 3 months worth of your expenses budget. While you DCA into your bitcoin portfolio, you also put money into building your emergency fund and in that way, you're adequately preparing funds to tackle any emergency, while your bitcoin portfolio remains protected.
