Sad

---------------------Translation for english speakers---------------------

I had the same idea not even two weeks ago (Quebecoin). I was dumbfounded when I stumbled on the page of the coin ahaha.

Is it too late to make me some room in the early top 5? Sad

----------------------End translation------------------------------------

-------------------Translation of my french response-----------------------

A few people already contacted me to tell me the same thing! The idea was in the air it seems. The first 5 cans of maple syrup are already taken! There are 6 investors and one of them already gave his can to the next one in line. Now I'm giving away a can with every investment of 1 BTC or more.

There is already a Canada coin so why do we need a Qu......nevermind.   Screw it nobody in Canada likes Quebec anyway so let them have a scam coin with 50% premine and a 10 year hold on it.....LOL they deserve this.
Maybe they Qubecer (French region) want freedom.

Hey xlcus, yeah some Québecers want complete freedom (forming a country) but a majority are ok with staying inside Canada as long as we are recognized as our own entity. Which we are, we are recognized as our own Nation within Canada officially. The poster you quoted was a bit negative, I didn't see too many people insulting the nation of other coins. Having a Québecoin is a national pride thing and also a really cool tool for transactions of course. Miners all over the world don't have to care about Québec, they can profit by mining a great X11 coin which is designed to be valuable.

[Suspicious link removed]

^Well ain't that some shit...? I type a whole text with question and comment and it turns into this crap?

Short story long;

As a crypto noob, I honestly don't feel safe enough to risk a whole lot into this right now... Like someone else said, this sounds more like I'm investing in you - someone that I don't know on the internet.

I'm willing to participate and scale up as we(the coin/community) build this trust.

Can I still send 0.10BTC to share the early 210K QBC? I'm not sure I even undertand what this is about.

You can send any amount you want - You'll get a share of QBC proportional to the amount you put in. Right now 0.1 BTC will get you a nice share of QBC. If someone comes in with 1 BTC or something after that, he'll own more than half of the 210k. As far as putting your trust in me, a part of that of is true as far as promotion and development goes but like I told someone else before, you can arrange an escrow if it makes you feel better with your investment. Otherwise as you said, trust will slowly build and people will feel better about investing.

Right now we're still at the stage where each coin is getting more valuable by adding investment, there will be a point where that slowly changes and additional investment lowers value for everyone but I think that won't happen until 100 BTC at least. At 125 BTC for example the price for each QBC would be around 0.26$ (at current BTC prices) and investors won't sell below that which means that a solid floor will be put at that price range and miners will want more than that amount as well.

Yes. The Nation coins have been different beasts.

Look at Aurora. I laughed at that coin and look where it went. AUR was surrounded by FUD. I still don't know who the dev is and where it was produced for sure.

Maplecoin is not an "official" Canadian coin. It is another pump&dumper produced by the same no name crew who produced Mazacoin and gawd only knows about the others. Boxxa, anonpirate, anonymouspirate are nic names associated with these coins.

Aprodite coin dumped a bunch of its premine yesterday. Poloniex exchange warned its customers of such.

Canada Ecoin webpage looked like it was banged out as a last minute thought.

Yep. Quebecoin is looking pretty good to me right now.

Woah WTF aphroditecoin. That is disgusting. I have NO intention of EVER selling any premine that isn't the IPO. I have absolutely no problem putting the premined coins (apart from the IPO and Bounty coins) in the hands of a trusted third party. The fact is that the bounty part of the premine will serve as a promotional giveaway tool in the beginning and since QBC has a delayed airdrop to let value rise, I won't even need to touch the premine for a long time. Open to all suggestions from the community on this matter.

Aurora still has a bit of mystery behind it but generally looking good.

Québecoin is definitely looking good, pretty sunny day today too, feeling great!

We just got the biggest investment yet - 0.4985 BTC. I'm very happy about it but I would ask anyone investing to consider posting publicly in this thread instead of e-mailing or pm-ing me.

There was a huge whale who invested 20 BTC anonymously at the beginning of the Heavycoin IPO and a lot of people were turned off initially until he revealed himself. If you want your investment to turn into a success, making it public and letting people know you support QBC is the best way to do it.

I'll be updating the IPO page with the new amounts! We've passed the 1 BTC mark and I think things should pick up soon as Québecoin gains in value.

Here's the updated IPO distribution. A single person now owns 42.458% of the IPO coins, a huge stake. Ideally this will be better distributed towards the end.

There's been a bounty added for 750 QBC for active promotion of Québecoin during the PRE-ANN period. If you have an active twitter account or are known in the community, I'd suggest reading through the website at www.qbc.io and the pre-announcement post, if you like what you see throughout the thread then you can come in contact with me and tell me you're going for the bounty.

Summary once again : Québecoin - QBC - X11 and DarkGravityWave nation coin for Québec. Don't compare us to maza/aphrodite/spain/greece and the rest of the coins who give the entire community a bad name - we're a completely different breed.

This means each QBC is at 559 Satoshi minimum now and climbing further. I'll mine some too at launch with EC2 or simply up my investment, depending on how much the IPO ends up with.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

Yeah 559 Satoshi right now sounds about right! Around 0.0025$ at current prices. I'd like to see QBC around 0.1$ minimum at launch. That means an IPO close to 50 BTC and would result in a market cap around 2 250 000 $ when trading starts (including the value of the premine). That would give us a good boost in visibility and lots of people mining the coin.

Well I was giving away a can of maple syrup for the 5 first people who invested 0.1 BTC or more, but those are all gone! I still promised to ship a can to anyone during the entire IPO who puts in more than 1 BTC so I'll still be doing that. 1 BTC right now gets 45.996% of the Québecoin IPO - 96591 QBC to be exact. Otherwise if you're in Montréal at some point I'll treat you to breakfast at a local breakfast restaurant with plenty of maple syrup.

For all the investors and anyone interested in making QBC a success don't forget that we have a few social media pages including a subreddit! (Which is not yet very active) Here are the links! Follow+Post+Like+Share !

I'll be doing a twitter bounty giveaway soon for around 100 People - 5 QBC each for a follow + retweet. I'll try to do a similar promotion with a local radio show soon after launch as well.

Tu es le meilleur! (for the english speakers - an awful wordplay based on his username Lemayilleur which is "the best" = "le meilleur")

Here's the update IPO page, distribution is still looking amazing. As the bigger investors get in it might skew it a bit but it will make each QBC more valuable.

Thanks for the fair second look.

I will update the OP with the distribution/airdrop as we see it. There are a few reasons to wait for an airdrop. There will be giveaways and promotions in smaller amounts at all times but we want to see Québecoin grow naturally. The people who adopt it on their own and are interested enough in the giveaways in the beginning are the early adopters and they will be the ones promoting QBC in a natural manner. Most of the world is still getting introduced to Bitcoin and now they're getting thrown some Spain/Germany/Maza/Greece/Aphrodite Coin (most if not all of which are scams) in their faces with no idea what do with it. In 2 years time tons of people will have heard about Québecoin and those who have hesitated to try it will get some free coins to play with. And the free coins are not a big amount either, the intention is not help anyone out of poverty like other coins claim. It's to have a National currency which we can use everywhere. Here's a quote from earlier in the thread explaining distribution.

how and when will you allot the 49.45% pre-mine QBC?
you choose x11 and DGW, that's good.
there are many country coins, if you can make a perfect allot which others do not have, QBC will be a perfect coin for sure.

Hey I just answered this question in the french forum so I'll paste it here and translate for you.

We're going to build a page on www.qbc.io where everyone can claim their share of QBC and we'll do a lot of promotion for the first distribution. We think the ideal way of distributing everything will be by using the health insurance card by the RAMQ (the government organization which takes care of health insurance). The card has a unique number and is available only for residents of Québec. The advantage compared to other country-coins is that we have 2 years before the first official distribution, which leaves us a lot of time to put in the work necessary to make sure everyone knows about QBC and that those who haven't tried it yet can get some as well. In the mean time we're gonna distribute smaller amounts of QBC through things like radio or internet promotions and allow a more natural growth.

You have to note that the number of coins we've chosen is important. If every person in Québec (8 million) asked for their part of QBC - they'd receive 0.525 QBC only at each distribution (5 distributions in 10 years). Evidently we won't have such a high participation rate but if we manage to get even only 1/8 of the population (1 million) to participate, it will be a more reasonable amount of 4.2 QBC per person. Additionally, at every subsequent distribution the participation rate will rise in a significant manner and the value of each coin can rise at the same time which means that a smaller number of coins will represent a relatively similar amount.

Auroracoin is one of the the only ones in which a rapid distribution makes sense since they are so few (approx 330 000). And even then they still experienced a rapid drop in value. Look at Greececoin (even though it's most likely a scam) (11.28 million people) and Spaincoin (47.27 million people). They establish unrealistic objectives for their distribution with a population that's a lot larger than us. I doubt that even 1% of people knows about the existence of their cryptocurrency. We're talking here about changing or proposing an alternative to the national currency, that's not something you can do within a month or two, it's a question of years and gradual adoption.

This part I didn't write in the french section but I just remembered, the same shady devs as greececoin are making 'mandarincoin' for China. That's 1.35 BILLION people spread out across an immensely wide and varied country. There's simply no way they are legit and if they were, they're simply crazy for even attempting it. China is clearly against cryptocurrencies right now and the sheer size of the population makes it unfeasible. Québec (and Canada) are very open about bitcoin and technology and Québec has a very united population. It's the perfect place to make something like this happen on a larger scale.

So that's the plan for QBC

Creation --> X11 Mining + IPO (0.5%) -- > Marketing + Small steady giveaways --> Natural Growth --> First Airdrop --> Rise in adoption from late adopters ---> Success

Instead of (for the other nation coins)

Creation --> Mining --> Airdrop --> Huge drop in value --> No one cares anymore and the miners and people who invested hate the coin and badmouth it.

--------Translation--------------

That's a lot of skepticisim! (Brunic says he likes the idea and wants to see it succeed but is only 2% convinced) Listen, I started with the basics, I thought out every detail because Québec's cryptocurrency wasn't going to be half-assed. With X11 and DarkGravityWave and a great mining distribution (see the post a bit above comparing Spaincoin and Vertcoin to Québecoin). You can support it in so many different ways, you can talk to your friends about it, you can mine it and finally you can invest in the IPO. It supports me personally and allows me to make this my fulltime job for a long time and it's the easiest way to get lots of QBC right now. I'm a real Québecer who is proud of his nation, I want this to work.
