I think gambling should be taken for fun, and not for the purpose of wanting to get rich quick type of thing. I won't agree that a person putting his or her last cash into gambling is a sign of addiction simply because people are still free to use the very last cash on them for whatever they want, like for example, somebody may have $20 dollar as the very last cash on him before some new cash comes in, and there is not anything of importance he should spend that money on, instead of wasting the money on meaningless things drugs and smoke or alcohol, I personally think it's better to spend that money on gambling where the person (atleast) have a chance of winning and possibly doubling or trippling the money if he is lucky, whereas if he is not lucky, then the money will be lost, same way he would have also wasted it on something that is meaningless and even worst; harmful to his health.

So, I'd rather advise people to take preventive measures to avoid getting addicted in the first place. One key way not to get addicted is your mindset. If you view gambling as a form of entertainment, not a source of income, you'll be less likely to get into trouble . Remember, gambling is not your steady source of income to make millions or billions. It's for relaxation, so use your spare money or set a bankroll and stick to it. Don't exceed your budget, and over spend time in the casino playing. And if you are playing for profit, learn to analyze games very well and still stick to your budget or time.


But If you find yourself slipping into addiction, to me getting out requires sincerity. It's not just about physical efforts like therapy or family members restricting funds, you need to genuinely tell yourself you want to stop. First step to  solution is to acknowledge your addiction and sincerely want to quit. Well, in your idea, you are right that instead of spending the money on drugs, it's better the person uses it to try luck with gambling. That could be the reason for some persons that uses their last money to gamble but you can not tell the mindset and interest of everyone, some people could actually have a very pressing need that they need to settle but they will prefer to use that money on gambling leaving behind the important thing that they would have first settled and they do this because they have a strong hope that they can win more money from the gambling and use their winning to solve the problem.

Well yes that makes sense and I agree with your opinion here about the last money which is when a gambler bets his last money it can be said that they are addicted, the reason is clear because it is an attempt that leads to forcing the situation, because if for example it is their last money then they should not use it to gamble but to fulfill their life needs which are much more important, and when they do use it to gamble then yes most likely there is hope involved there, as you guessed and I am sure it is true that they hope that the last money can bring them victory, like hoping for a miracle, whereas on the other hand it is clear that the casino never sees how hard you try to stay involved in gambling, simply there is no mercy from the casino, losing is still losing.
