It's more challenging but they have reasons to do this. If it is too easy, many users will be able to withdraw money and I guess from their business stance, they consider it as loss for their business revenue and treasury in long term. I guess they want to give users free bets for exploring their site and enjoying games there, while they try to minimize total money can be wiwthdraw by users from free bets.

The business and users have different interest and it's truly hard to find an acceptable equilibrium for both sides, and with me free bets are for free gaming time, not seriously with how I can withdraw money from free bets.

According to my experience, they count the possible winning amount if the odds are less than 2 and the wagering amount if the odds are 2 or higher.
For example, if you place a $100 bet with the odds of 1.5, it's counted as $50.

Yes, it's not like that we bet with odds of 1.01 (where the winning chances are almost 99.9%) and anyone betting with a 1000$ gets almost 1000$ wagering requirements. No, Wagering isn't that easy.

Casinos know this and they will only calculate 0.01% on this amount for wagering purposes. I guess completing wagering requirements through betting is a bit more difficult as compared to the regular gambling games.
