School or Skills?

By my assumptions, there are strong indications already that we are moving past an era where employers put educational qualifications at the fore front of their requirement for employment into certain positions, some employers now hold personal qualities such as skills possessed by the individual ahead of the school they went to and the degree they graduated with. First, I would like to ask, could this be a reflection of a failing educational system? My second question is that if you happen to be the employer here, which will you consider more, school or skills?

I will consider skill more important than educational qualifications, though the individual still need to be educated because without education, the employee can hardly speak good English him or herself let alone understanding others..

But skill is still very important because it is by good skill that tasks are carried and done properly as they should, certificates doesn't do the job, it's the person holding the certificate that does, so why put the certificate first?
In my country here, I seen alot of uneducated persons, they are the ones who own the company and hiring educated persons to run it, what this teaches us is that becoming successful in life isn't about who's educated and who isn't, it's about what we do with our time, the skill we acquire and put to use, owning a certificate won't pay you salary, but it's your skill and level of contribution in the growth of the company that earns you promotions and pays you even bigger salaries.

But that era started to phaseout when internet came, now you don't need a certificate to earn money online, what you need is the skills and experiences required to make so much money. You can get most tasks done now using AI, most times you don't need to pay a professional to get answers and results. AI can do for you more efficiently what a person with high degrees can do or perform. Basic education is still very important because they are our foundation to learn how to read and write, shape our intelligence to learn skills and for effective communication.

For me both are quite important because schools can make a person achieve good knowledge through learning that can be developed by every individual and the other way about the skills that are owned both found outside formal school or not. The problem is the learning system so this is what needs to be improved instead of saying education is not important for people in general because we see that there are many people who say that. For the issue of job acceptance may return to the company system because sometimes companies will judge based on education.

But also many companies that rely on skills as guaranteed for someone to get a job even though sometimes still quite a little. If education is good and has a skill it will be much better because in terms of the requirements we have a perfect level. This is what is expected by most companies before giving work for people and they will be a priority consideration.

In most cases, it is the strategy of the graduate how he can find a better job or at least earn a decent income. The job won't come after them but they need to find a way how to get out of their comfort zone and use their expertise to look for a decent employment. If he has the means, he can always venture in a business.
In my opinion, you still need school to have an advantage in the job market. Skills may help in other blue collar jobs but I believe that having education can give you other opportunities that will equip you competitive if you are looking for the same job as compared to having acquired skills only.

Well, if we talk about the situation, I also agree that a person's situation will be different. There are people who are very capable of achieving higher education and they can pay for additional courses outside of education to hone their skills, there are people who can only afford education and some even have to work harder to achieve that.

Here the role of the individual itself is very much needed when the situation is difficult for them, they may have to work hard to find scholarships for example, and they must be able to independently find their skills, for example from the environment. But once again, if that is possible, then education and skills should go hand in hand without clashing.

You made a good point, but you missed some vital things to mention in this statement, note that school and skills is not the same, and for sure certificate and skills is not the same thing, there are some jobs, no matter your level of skills, if you are not certified in that field no one will give you a job for example.
No matter how skilled you are in counting money, and saving money or keeping financial records, no one will employ you as an accountant if you don't have a degree in accounting, same thing goes with other professional jobs, I think the word to use instead (skill) in this  regards (experience) not skill since skills is mostly for artisans staff's.

Education is arguably important for science but I do not agree if people say that education will provide an opportunity for someone to get wealth. I see a big example of how college graduates in my area work and generally they work only at salaries in accordance with drinking wages and even some of them must be involved in the bank loan to build a house or buy a car.

Schools can be a place to find skills but it is a vocational school because formal schools generally only learn about theory based on the curriculum. We can get skills anywhere depending on how a person wants to search because when it comes to the ability to get the skill it is not only limited to schools affiliated with theory -based curriculum.

If school or education was really most important, then librarians, who have access to all kind of books, information will be the most demanded employees. That’s one fact, Usher said, education is necessary but, might not be what empowers the youths and that’s true. Having to use skill as an excluding factor to education in the context that this thread is propagated doesn’t mean well for society. We need an educated laborer so, these educated labor could be able to come up with designs that could work where skills fail. I agree with this because after all, for now it seems like it will be very difficult to choose one of the two because nowadays both factors (education and skills) are always one of the things that support us in the future.

Although in this case there are people who will prioritize one of the two but I think we have to think more realistically in this case. The skills possessed if not accompanied by education then the results may not be optimal because of course in this day and age especially for some countries in the end education is always a benchmark even though not all are like that but with the education possessed (academic degree as a guarantee) then in the end we can get a greater advantage in terms of opportunities to get a higher position especially in matters of work. Vice versa, even though our education is as good as anything but when we only discuss theory without being accompanied by skills then the situation will not be much different where the optimality in terms of results can be doubted.
