I watched the Galatasaray-Trabzonspor Super Cup match yesterday. I couldn't understand why Trabzonspor was so bad. There's no trace of the team that played magnificent football a month ago and was close to the top of the league. They're terrible. The Trabzonspor coaching staff should rewatch Galatasaray's third goal and show it to the players. A team aiming for the championship shouldn't concede such an easy goal. I wouldn't say Trabzonspor played horrible yesterday despite the final score. They just couldn't finish their big chances as efficient as their opponent. Otherwise they also had a few more serious opportunities to answer.

But it was of course a really solid win by Galatasaray. No matter they didn't have Osimhen they still got a big score like 4-1. Icardi scored again! As far as I've heard he has agreed terms with the team on a new contract. He is expected to make €4.5m per year.

Yunus, Sané and Barış were very good yesterday.
Icardi made a great assist.
Eren Elmalı returned with a goal after a long time.

People need to realize, this could be seen as "unimportant" game by many as well. Right now Trabzonspor had many missing main players based on sofescore, it shows some of their best players were missing, mainly the leading goal scorer of the league. So, it's normal that the result is what it is, while Galatasaray was also missing Osimhen, they still had Icardi as replacement, which is barely a replacement because that dude was top scorer just a season ago. So there was difference in quality than normal times.

Galatasaray won the semi-final match of the Turkish Super Cup today, meaning we noticed that Victor Osimhen's team won against Trabzonspor today with great ease.In fact, Nigerian player Osimhen was not in this game but even then, I did not notice for a moment that the mentality of the Galatasaray team had weakened, the bottom line is that every player on this team had a very positive attitude and my guess they were physically fit. Well it turned out that the absence of both Ulai and Onuachu has had a negative impact on the team making them to decline abruptly in performance against Galatasaray in that fixture but it is also possible that they may bounce back soon, Galatasaray is a better team than Trabzonspor so it is possible that Galatasaray had dominated them as a result of their class and not the fact that Trabzonspor is actually bad at the moment.

Actually, a low budget squad had been built by Trabzonspor and they are literally spending the season without a left winger. The success in the first half of the season came from this low budget core squad under the management of Fatih Tekke.
As you mentioned, Onuachu and Oulai are very important names. Fatih has built his game plan entirely around these two players. Naturally, their absence has had a big impact as well.

I think one of the main reasons behind why Trabzonspor couldn't score more than one goal was not having Onuachu.

Felipe Augusto still scored of course but if Fatih Tekke had his main forward player then his usual game plan would be seen on the pitch instead.

I don't think it was a horrible performance on the side of Trabzonspor but a bad day at the office of the Trabzonspor team, they met a very good team, perhaps the most successful team in the Turkish league and I wasn't surprised at the result, Galatasaray are gunning for the title and they do not want to take any chances that might jeopardize their chances of winning the league and at such would always go all out to demolish any opposition that posses any threat against their ambition and I think they are also trying to send a message to other opponents about readiness to face any team in the league.

Watching Fenerbahce vs Samsunspor right now. Kerem looks weak. he definitely needs to be more confident in the middle. His set pieces and pressing are poor and he’s not connecting with the team. Yes, you are right, in Türkiye this cup is sometimes called the milk cup to belittle it, but there are those who value it... :)

However, it's not a completely unnecessary tournament. The team that wins this cup enters the UEFA play-offs. In fact, if the team that finishes the season as champion wins this cup, the next best team in the rankings wins the right to participate in the UEFA. Actually, it's not such a worthless tournament.
