This week, Sporting and Porto will meet for the first leg of the Portuguese Cup semi-finals.

Favorites Benfica, Porto, and Sporting did their job and won their matches. But what specifically surprised me was that Estrela Amadora couldn't score a single goal, even with possession and more shots on goal. This game was literally theirs.

The best scenario for the excitement of the championship would be a victory for Braga against Sporting and a victory for Benfica against Porto. That would leave us with:

However, I believe there could be two draws, since Braga is theoretically weaker than Sporting, but will be playing at home, which could make it difficult for them to lose

Whenever Porto and sporting meet in any encounter whether in the League or the League cup or the Super cup in the Portuguese league, its always a game of clash of titans as usual, the last three encounter between both teams has been very tough especially the last encounter, both teams had to settle for a draw as a result of the intensity of the match and tonight its only normal that we might see a very competitive game as usual.

This weekend matches are like extra important. Let's see what matches we have...

• Benfica - Porto
• Braga - Sporting

There is a really good chance for Sporting to get closer to the top. Because this is really a match Porto can lose points. They already couldn't beat Benfica at home earlier.

On the other hand I can't say Sporting have an easy job either.    They couldn't also beat Braga at home. But I think they will manage to do it by a close margin.

Porto will have two very difficult and exhausting games, and they are two consecutive games. Today, for example, Porto will play against Sporting in the Portuguese Cup. This is an important game for both teams, and therefore they will play with all their best players. The bookmakers are placing Sporting as the big favorite, and I see that the odds are very good.

For example, for Sporting, playing at home, the bookmakers are giving @2.09, and for Porto, the bookmakers are giving @3.95. For both teams, the odds are good; those who like Sporting or Porto will not be afraid to place a small amount on Sporting or Porto.

The last time both teams faced each other was last month, when the game ended in a 1-1 draw, and note that it was at Porto's home ground. Today the game will be at Sporting's home ground.

I managed to watch the second half at least, but I didn't really enjoy the game, it wasn't very exciting 

But at least I won a different bet I made with odds of 2.92

At least I made a profit

I think Braga is no longer fighting for third place, but rather to avoid losing their fourth position. It would be exciting to see a scenario where the top two teams battled for first place, with Porto losing ground and stagnating in points.

Congratulations for your win and best thing to not just count on which team to win in such side competition. Porto lost the game but at least it was only with one goal so their chances to comeback in the second leg will remain high. Sporting single goal was from a penalty otherwise from what I heard the match wasn't that top.
In the other semifinal, the game ended with a draw and after all the team which will win the Cup will be between Sporting and Porto.

We've reached round 25, a round that could dictate the final course of the season.
We will have the big match between Benfica and Porto.

If Benfica wins, they'll be back in the race for first place. Even though it doesn't depend 100% on you, it makes it easier to get there.
If Porto wins at home against their biggest rival, they can practically order the championship banners, as they will be in a very good position to win the league title.

In the event of a draw, the path could become easier for Sporting to become champions again. In turn, Sporting will also have a difficult game against Braga.
Benfica, on the other hand, could complicate their chances of at least finishing second – that is, if they lose or draw.


It will be a very exciting round, where everything could stay the same, or the path could be opened for a thrilling end to the season.

The most interesting game in the Portuguese league for this weekend would be sporting Lisbon against FC Braga, it's a very crucial game and the results would slightly determine what the title race would look like this season, sporting Lisbon have been struggling a bit recording some poor results has negatively impacted their chances of being on the title race and right now they still trailing the league leaders by four points  or so, that's why this fixture against Braga would be very critical for sporting if they intend to keep chasing the title.

I wasn't able to see full game, saw goals only. But when you see penalty awarded on 90+6 minute it always sounds contraversial. When I saw 2.00 odds for Sporting I couldn't resist from betting and offcourse I got burned. Don't regret anyway.
Today's O Clasico, if Benfica will manage to win, probably they will return to title race and that would be interestingfor neutral spectator. But for me it's a bit wird that bookmakers is giving odds below 2.00 for Benfica win, I don't see reasons why they have favorite status.

This weekend fixtures in Portugal is quite contagious, Braga is up against Sporting Lisbon and on Sunday Porto would be going up against Benfica, these games could influence the current status of the table of the Portuguese league, for me I wish Sporting could take advantage of this situation even if Braga might prove stubborn

If sporting could just get past Braga then they would have successfully gotten close to the top because Benfica might hold porto to a draw at least since they have the home advantage, some how there could be some changes on the table this weekend as a result of this weekend's fixtures.

But an hour later, I saw on the news website that the game ended in a draw. I thought they might be wrong, so I checked other sources and, to my surprise, Benfica didn't lose. Scoring two goals in the second half was incredible. Those Benfica players play well when they want to.

Benfica couldn't gain any advantage at home. The first half was a very difficult time for them, a very frustrating time for me. Benfica are now like Arsenal who have come close to winning the title in the last few seasons and lost. Last season they lost the title by just 2 points. I expected them to win this season, but they are already far from it. Today I expected a good match at least against the top team in the points table. But the first half was the opposite of my expectations, although they made a great comeback in the second half, it wasn't enough to win.

Usually, when I come across fixtures such as those, I just leave them be. I don’t even want to play for a scoring fixtures where the goal market would be favored but, this is a well weighted fixture. I might downsize Braga a little bit but, there is nothing to take from Benfica Vs Porto and more so, a Sporting CP fixture. Both fixtures got their draws at the end and goals wasn’t lacking with both playing over 3.5, that’s a pretty tough game.

Perhaps if the substitutions for Benfica, which greatly helped to turn the result around, had been made about 10 minutes earlier, Benfica could have won the game.

But, in my opinion, Benfica, despite playing poorly in the first half, did much more to win than Porto. Porto basically played on the counter-attack, and were successful in two of them. Porto didn't win because they didn't play to win, especially in the second half; they played not to lose.

Benfica came back from a 0-2 deficit against Porto at home to finish the match 2-2.
Porto took the lead in the first half with two goals.

I thought Porto would score more in the second half and the score would be even higher, but Benfica didn't allow that.
Benfica scored in the 69th and 88th minutes to make it 2-2.
After Benfica's second goal, Mourinho made another disrespectful gesture and received a red card from the referee.
Someone needs to warn Mourinho. He's lost his old charisma and these actions are becoming unpopular.

The match ended 2-2, and Porto earned one point from this away game. The gap with their closest rival, Lisbon, remains at 4 points, as Lisbon drew 2-2 away against Braga.
