If you watched the match you would agree with me that the eagles did not really improve much, they only got luckier and scored the two goals, but these goals did not make any difference since they are already off the competition even before the game even started. You're right anyone who watched yesterday's match was a waste of time because there was nothing special about the game as there was nothing to play for in the part of the Nigerian team I personally didn't watch it I only saw and the results this tournament was one of the worst I have seen a Nigerian team perform this low in a long while

I don't always get the Idea behind still allowing players to play games that have no meaning to the tournament. Probably if the two teams or one team had a chance of progressing then that's when the game should go ahead but when both teams are eliminated from the tournament, don't we think it's a waste of resources to continue with the game. They're going to get low turnout of spectators and viewership which takes alot out of the budget to organized the match. If I were the players, I won't bother giving my best and I believe that's what the opponents did here as I don't believe the boys could play this well then lost both previous legs of the competition.

Congo still had a chance of qualifying because they had two points. If they had won Nigeria and any team between Sudan and Senegal had lost, the Congolese side would have progressed to the next round.

Poor selection affected our performance.  Players like Ngenge and Mustapha Lawal shouldn't have been in the first two games. The introduction of players like Harcourt Ebenezer and the defensive partnership between Junior Nduka and Stephen Manyo gave Nigeria its first win in the competition.

The Super Eagles has always been like this. There is never a time when they did perform to impress Nigerians not even goals or match that is worth celebrating about them.  Always poor outing and funds are being spent on them without anything to show for.

This tournament was for home based African players, so this was not the "main" Super Eagles as we all know it. I also disagree with you that the Super Eagles never impress in tournaments, that is completely wrong, we have always been a competitive team in African football and even finished as runner-up in the last African Cup of Nations.

That said, i understand that we have had our own fair share of heartbreaks from the Super Eagles, but i still think it is unfair to describe them the way you just did.

It's painful and embarrassing for Nigeria to be eliminated from the group stage, so we just have to accept the defeat. If not, I don't think their efforts in this match matter because we already knew that Nigeria was disqualified since we lost the two matches against Senegal and Sudan. Even if they win 10-0 in this match, it wouldn't add anything. I'm wondering if the government made similar promises to the men's team as they did to the Super Falcons. Perhaps the men's team performance suffered because their focus shifted from the league to the promised rewards. It might have been better for the government to let them finish the league before announcing any promises, just like they did with the Super Falcons.

would've been more embarrassing if Nigeria got eliminated from the tournament without winning any team in their group so maybe we'll just use the win against Congo to console ourselves, I really don't understand why this set of under 21 players were not serious enough I know that Senegal is a country with good football history in Africa but we should've beaten Sundan.
I disagree with you cause such promises should encourage them to do better knowing fully well that there's something at stake so it's not about the government promises, I think they were not motivated or determined enough to win that's why.

It's the rule of the game, be it that you have what you're playing for or not, that your winning the match will matter or not  is no reason not to make the most of it. It's just unfortunate that the Nigeria team had to wake up when it's already late after losing those points in the earlier matches to opponents we are supposed to beat to the points. It's just for us to come back and be well prepared for next tournament and learn from the mistakes of this year's CHAN tournament

The whole fun ended when Nigeria lost the two matches, everything was decided just after losing 3 points each with total of 6 points in Group stage of the tournament. Nigeria was down with 0 points but the two countries advancing already had 4 points on record, i least expected any good to come out from todays match against Congo, either winning or losing won't bring back the other points that was missed.

Nigeria isn't meant to be fighting not to end in last position, our target has always been finishing and advancing from first position or at our lowest second place, our progress to the next round of the tournament should have been a well deserved entry but we failed.

We watched match of African Nations Championship and we saw one sided match between these two teams as one team did 2 goals in this match and opponent team could not do any goal in this match. Yusuf was a person who did first goal of the match and he did this goal at 56 minutes and we saw no goal in the first half of the match. Congo national football team could not do any goal in this match and shots of that team were less in this match which were only 10 in this match and no shot was on target. The possession percentage of Congo national football team was very low in this match which was 42 percent and passes of that team were also less in number and these were only 264 .The pass accuracy of Nigeria national football team was brilliant in this match which was 71 percent.

This is the best we have now and it's nice seeing that the coach is given free hands to make his selection and also very early. If the players will be humble enough and submit to the leadership of the coach, I'm sure we will be able to build a formidable team ahead of the world cup qualifiers. It will be very bad if the Super Eagles fails to qualify for the world cup next year because we have all it takes to qualify in terms of the players. It's not about the you people kind of thing, it's something in everywhere in the world. When a team isn't giving a superb performance the coach is the first point where blame is directed to be responsible for his team's inefficiency.  As a coach you don't want to be blamed when your players are underperforming you can resign your position or fix the team by selecting those players that can bring you the expected results.  What else that disturbs me is how these players do successfully in their European clubs but flops in the national shirt.

They took this match very serious and perhaps they wouldn't have been on the bottom of the group if this was implored from the beginning, this was the eagle last match from the stage and it's was only one country that came out the best in the mist of Senegal, Congo and Nigeria which is Sudan, they are first, while Algeria was also the country that came out second from there group after the draw that took place between them and Niger. Meanwhile Sudan and Algeria is having an upcoming finals of the International and Sudan is possible of winning Algeria.

My problem is not about how well the other countries played but for the Nigeria team, they went into this competition with the mindset of getting an easy win in every game they played as what, giant of Africa? No, that's just a title that expired years ago, same thing with the Super Eagles because that idea they have as giant is making them underrate their opponent amd is making the country lose games I mean important games, this is something I never thought would happen for Nigeria to go to a competition and get only one win and the 3pt wasn't valid at all,

Football doesn't entertain title because is not what can get the trophy for them so actually if they were thinking that for them to have been the giant of Africa means there wouldn't be any country they wouldn't win even without putting efforts is obvious they were getting the whole title of a thing wrong because what makes a country team the giant is unrelenting efforts and the determination to succeed and maintain the title but on this case they do not have any determination because this group would have been very small for them because there isn't any country they cannot win but instead they have become the second to the lowest country on that group.

I believe Nigeria didn't earn the nickname "giants of Africa" in football, but if it was because of how good Nigeria was in football that made them to earn that nickname, i believe that was in the days of Austin Jay Jay Okocha. Bruh I have taken a good look at this Super Eagles team, assessed their performances in previous games in the group before making my opinion on what I think can only help them qualify, which is some kind of miracle. It is same team's spirit they couldn't give in the first games they had played in the group that they would be giving it now? Or, are we expecting to see different players in those two games when the Super Eagles play against South Africa and Rwanda? I would be realistic to say it's not a much chance for the Super Eagles here.

Right from time the Nigeria Super Eagles has always liked things the hard way that's why you could see them dropping points in some matches that you expect them to win with ease and when it gets to the injury period you would see them praying asking their supporters to help them pray so that other teams will lose for them to win and qualify ahead of the other teams. They are in a very tight corner in the group C and if they can't defeat South Africa and Rwanda to stay ahead of the group then they shouldn't have the hope of qualification because they failed to win against weak opponents when they had the opportunity.

Yes it is tough for us, but we have to keep believing until we either make it or when we are completely out, for now there is still a slim chance of making it to the World Cup next year. Nigeria has to win her next four qualifying games for a chance to top the group and qualify automatically, but i know it is hard to bank on this happening.

That said, even if we cannot finish top and qualify automatically, the boys should try and finish as one of the four best runners-up. So we can stand another chance of qualifying through the second round and then the FIFA Play-off tournament. It is not the route we would have loved to take from the beginning, but this is the reality now and we'd take anything to play in the World Cup next year.
