It would have been a big shame for the Home based Super Eagles to lose all their three groups games. At least they can be proud that they won a game and also didn't finish at the bottom of Group D.


The match has ended and the scoreline is 2-0. Sadly they will not get $100,000, national award and flats in Abuja like the Super Falcons and D' Tigress.

The whole fun ended when Nigeria lost the two matches, everything was decided just after losing 3 points each with total of 6 points in Group stage of the tournament. Nigeria was down with 0 points but the two countries advancing already had 4 points on record, i least expected any good to come out from todays match against Congo, either winning or losing won't bring back the other points that was missed.

Nigeria isn't meant to be fighting not to end in last position, our target has always been finishing and advancing from first position or at our lowest second place, our progress to the next round of the tournament should have been a well deserved entry but we failed.

It's discouraging to always spare out 90 mins of your time to watch a team you called your national team but end up with annoyance over poor performances and lack of coordination. The performance this guy's displayed in this AFCON was below average and it's the reason why they were send parking back home. I saw the players celebrating the two goals and the thing was quite annoying and discomforting when you know they could have done better if they were more organised. I think what is killing most of our squads for long is the recruitment and selection process.

They allow politics and favouritism to enter the process of forming the squad there by causing the lack of strong synergy between the team players. I watched the match and they did well by scoring two goals especially Alimi's goal which was a swift heading which led to the second goal and his first heading which assisted Anas Yusuf in netting the first goal.

Even now they are covering their heads in shame because this is a very poor tournament that they went to the coach should be more careful when it comes to selection of teams because from what I can see Nigeria poor performance has something to do with the quality of players that executed this tournament

Eric Chelle made a blunder in his starting eleven squad selection which I will want to straighten it out,  Anas Yusuf who scored can be said to be Nigeria's first goal in this CHAN tournament has been kept on the bench in all the matches Nigeria has lost to their opponents, and Eric Chelle did not find it necessary to start Yusuf who has the record for the top scorer in the NPFL, until this last game that all hopes has been lost.  He came in scored the goal for Nigeria and he would have done exceptionally well if he was played in the first games of the tournament but no, Eric Chelle did not find him worthy at first.

Is really disappointing to see the Nigeria side getting a win in this encounter, like what were they waiting for in the first and second leg of the competition? This was suppose to be the kind of display they are expected to bring not now that a win or draw even a lose doesn't change the fact that they are out already, they are winning to return back to Nigeria, this is a sign that we are not ready and I won't blame the coach at all, we lack coordinations. Let them win and eat their pride since is what they're fighting for all these while.

The day Nigeria lost their second match against Sudan, i knew it was over for Nigeria because if Nigeria won against Congo in their last match, Nigeria would not qualify for the next round of the competition because Nigeria would finish in 3rd position in their group, and it is only the countries that finish in 1st and 2nd positions are eligible to qualify for the next round of the competition. After Nigeria played two matches without collecting a point, and they were at the bottom of their group, i wanted to place a single bet option against Nigeria, but after Nigeria won against Congo, i thanked my star for not placing the bet.

Upon this 2 0 victory to the Congo home-based team, it's still a big shame for the Super Eagles home-based players that they didn't qualify out of the group stage.

Well, we shouldn't take it to Heart, let's just embrace the spirit of sportsmanship as it's one those tournament we couldn't advance beyond the group stage, at least crashing out at this point will make them prepare better next time, which involves selecting the right players by going for the best the local league has. It's really disappointing for a football nation like Nigeria to witness this kind of awful performance from our home based guys, when some of us are making a case for the coach that he should create space for home based players in the Super Eagles, and this is what the home base guys could perform.

I really can not tell what the issue with the players is, but one thing I know is that these players do perfectly well at their various club sides, but when it comes to national affairs, they just do not give that full momentum like they do at clubside. Look at the likes of Osimhen; he is the most sought-after striker with big clubs contending for him. However, his national team performance cannot be compared to his club side performance. The NFF should step up its game and make sure the players are well taken care of so that they can be able to put in their best to make sure they perform with their utmost commitment.

What more could we say to the players? They tired and they should try again next time and without a better preparation I still see them playing the same way and this should be a lesson to the NFF to have a better structure but the way they handle things doesn't show why we the supporters would see a well improved team in any competition and very soon the Super Eagles will start struggling to qualify for the world cup and we might see same behavior.
While they were interviewing one of the players, he was really pleased with how they played after a disappointing run in the group stage, like the smile on his face while answering the question pissed me off, they could not book a spot in the next round and he was ok with it, we need serious players who would say they are not ok with this result and their facial expressions will say it all, not the one who's happy for coming to the competition and being player of the match but the next thing is going back home, that's no way to be champions.

That award was given to the main team of the super falcons and not the team B which are the people playing here. I'm not saying the team A are any better because I expect the same shame from them or aren't they the same people that have been putting shame on us for so long now. I'm glad all this is over so now we can focus attention on the main super eagles because we have lots of important games coming up. I didn't see the need of winning this game if they won't qualify as it's just wasted effort. Games they should have won or drawn, they were busy losing and when it comes to the one that isn't important, they're now winning. Anyways our girls are always making us proud so for now they're our pride.

Even if they win 10-0 in this match, it wouldn't add anything. I'm wondering if the government made similar promises to the men's team as they did to the Super Falcons. Perhaps the men's team performance suffered because their focus shifted from the league to the promised rewards. It might have been better for the government to let them finish the league before announcing any promises, just like they did with the Super Falcons.

That is what we should tell them because it will give us more confidence in them to see that they are always trying, when all the first squad are mostly Yong players it gives the country an elastic standard in field because whichever length you want they are willing to reach without any limitation of performance and for couple of years ahead they will always still be young to defend the country on the female league, although even some other players on the bench are also reliable players so actually our blessings and well wishes will always be on them as they set to start any new season because what deserves to be appreciated should be appreciated.

I wonder when there would be improvement and  we being free of this embarrassment from the Super Eagles, since the beginning of the CHAN its been a mess all through and the coach seems to be lousy over it. Like I said, the Super Eagles needs restructuring and also the NFF so that there would be a revival in the sports body of the federation. As it is now, we no longer hope on the Eagles to lift trophy but rather the Falcons and the Flying Eagles are the teams doing us proud. The senior team just needs to improve on their performances to show their seriousness because it would get to a stage the government might begin to ignore them and concentrate on the female team and the under 20 because they are the ones doing us proud of them.

I'm not impressed at all with the performance of the under 21 players as we are not supposed to settle for the less at this AFCON, the match against Congo was just one of the worse. Honestly, I am not impressed and it seemed like the offer by the federal government was not just wort it because if they know the value of the bigger picture ahead of winning the AFCON, they would have buckled up and worked harder. They looked disorganised, disoriented and unmotivated and this squad really played like players who were still at the Academy.

Yea it would've not been good but what sense does this make now, we can see that they have won, whats the winning for although i agree that it is a consolation wining but thats not funny at all, they weren't serious but if you look inwardly you will also understand that something is behind it, is either they were selected based on the usual know man know man or they were selected based on other things that could reflect on the requirements needed, hey lady, I don't think we should defeated sudan as you said, I reserve the reason what I made such statement.
When a team is not in good shape, what can Promise do, I think promises has nothing to do here, no matter how motivated a team is, if they aren't good, there's wouldn't be anything they can offer so that's it.

If you watched the match you would agree with me that the eagles did not really improve much, they only got luckier and scored the two goals, but these goals did not make any difference since they are already off the competition even before the game even started. I don't know, but for me it is better they crashed out now than somehow miraculously advanced to the next stages and make a mockery of themselves when the intensity of the competition heightens.

I don't always get the Idea behind still allowing players to play games that have no meaning to the tournament. Probably if the two teams or one team had a chance of progressing then that's when the game should go ahead but when both teams are eliminated from the tournament, don't we think it's a waste of resources to continue with the game. They're going to get low turnout of spectators and viewership which takes alot out of the budget to organized the match. If I were the players, I won't bother giving my best and I believe that's what the opponents did here as I don't believe the boys could play this well then lost both previous legs of the competition.
