It's going to take absolute miracle to have Nigeria qualify in that Group C, the Super Eagles messed things up for themselves and they would need to do more to see that they get passed South Africa and Rwanda because these are not two easy nations to beat particularly now that Nigeria squad strength is not as strong as they use to be back then it makes any confidence on the team hard to come by.

The selection of the recent two matches by Eric Chelle was  not good. He would have used the normal players and only bring in like 2 or 3 of the home base players.
But some of the ex players said they didn't blame the coach but the players. All that is not the issue now, Nigeria should just forget about the tournament this time and prepare themselves in the next tournament. They can't do anything again. Finidi came and sidelined some of the good players and suffered defeat. I have checked the group standings and South Africa are still sitting on top with 13 points, so no deduction has been made. And since no decision has been reached since then, i don't think they would face any punishment, even though they ought to.

South Africa is likely to face a three point deduction and three goal penalty for fielding an ineligible players, Teboho Mokoena had accumulated two yellow cards in separate matches, making him inevitable to play, According to FIFA regulations, a player who receives two yellow cards in separate matches must serve a one match suspension.

I think this decision would significantly impact the standing in Groups C

This tournament was for home based African players, so this was not the "main" Super Eagles as we all know it. This tournament has been very competitive. Today will be seeing the Semi finals and this is the game no one would want to miss. Madagascar playing against Sudan and Senegal against Morocco. This Senegal against Morocco is the draw I never wished for, it would have been better met in the finals because the cup winner is definitely going to come from who so ever wins between Senegal and Morocco. I hope Senegal wins today but if they do, it's going to be a tiny margin or even a penalty shootout.

Nigeria was disgraced out of the tournament even when the hope was on them. Being local players is not an excuse, every other opponent is also a local player. This result could have a lot to say about the position of Nigeria league among other African leagues. An improvement would definitely need to be made at the local club levels.

Right from time the Nigeria Super Eagles has always liked things the hard way that's why you could see them dropping points in some matches that you expect them to win with ease and when it gets to the injury period you would see them praying asking their supporters to help them pray so that other teams will lose for them to win and qualify ahead of the other teams. This will put to rest the agitation by some analysts that home based players should be given more chance to play in the super eagles, clearly the foreign based are preferable. What do you mean by they struggled to qualify for the final, it is a tournament for God's sake, so you expect them to ride on other teams and win every match 5-0. African football has developed so much, there are very few pushovers right now.

They made it to the final and you complain about how they got there, that is very funny to say the least. Even if they win the 2025 AFCON starting in December, you might still complain that you don't like how they won it and they should have scored more goals.

Apart from the onset when that matter about the South Africa midfielder Teboho Makoena that was featured in the match against Lesotho was raised there hasn't being any recent news about what FIFA verdict as sanction to South Africa action. A point reduction as sanction would definitely go in favour of Nigeria but then Nigeria would still need to win their next two games. I heard the NFF are currently planning on sacking Eric Chelle.

As for me oh. There is no need for them to participate and they should prepare themselves in the next world Cup. If they qualify and participate, what happened in the AFCON Championship will still repeat itself again so there is no need. Super Eagles I know in 2000 to 2014 were good though they used to disappoint us but when Kanu, Jaja were in the team, they were doing good. Even they didn't win a cup they can play to the semi final or to the final but now it is on the group stage of the first two matches that knocking them out from the field, or the tournament.

Let us look at the league where this home based guys are playing and you will agree with me that they don't have to be blamed too much, our local League at the moment might not even be ranking among the top five in Africa, this might be as a result of poor sponsorships and renumeration for players which at the end the players might likely not give in their all, so you don't expect a local league that is not performing to an average level to give you the best result in terms of players.

I do not think it is even near tenth position, but back then our local clubs did lift african clubside league title but now i don't think that is the case anymore. One of the major problems I would say attributes to our local league not being that popular is the fact that they lack publicity, I have     not for one day see our own government station show or televise our local league for once not at all so how do you want investors to come in how do you want foreign coach to have a good look at the local players and sign them up for bigger teams overseas? When there is visibility in sports, their is definitely growth and development and that has been the case but in Nigeria even the football body does not care about the football clubs not to talk of listening to their plight to further develop or join in developing the local leagues and clubs.

You have watched their recent games and seen how they have been underperforming whenever they are representing their nation Nigeria, are you going to compare the performance you saw while growing up to the performance of the current Super Eagle players? If we are being very honest, I think by now we would not be expecting anything good from the team because the guys are not playing with their mind, politics has taking over the national team they will keep struggling until the right thing is done so until then I see the team not qualifying because the two national team they will be facing can't bow down to them in their next games. Gone are the days we should be hoping and praying for other teams to lose so we can win to qualify personally I prefer watching the ladies because they are doing better than the male team.

Spot on. And i think i pointed this out in this thread some days ago, the NPFL has not developed to a good level, the quality of football played there and the way the league is run still below par, so that is definitely going to affect our performance in a tournament like CHAN. Though it is not like the countries that beat us all have a better league than ours, but it is a factor that contributed to our dismal outing in that tournament.

Well i think the AFCON match between Morocco vs Senegal, and how the winner will likely have a strong chance of reaching the final, i think comparing them to other teams in the competition which i will say Morocco and Senegal are among the strongest contenders, it will be really interesting to see how the match between this two unfolds and which teams comes outs on tops.
