African Football Discussion Thread Current Topic: 👉 AFCON 2025/2026

The inter-confederation match between Dr Congo versus Jamaica in ongoing, i wish for Dr Congo to pass through the inter-confederation stage and also qualify for the world cup so that 10 teams can represent Africa let's see how formidable their force will be. Africa has been very backward when it comes to the world cup because none of the countries has been able to win the world cup yet. If Africa presents 10 teams when Dr Congo qualifies, they must all try as much as possible to make an impact in this world cup because it will be so bad that after FIFA expanded the tournament, no African country could reach semifinals or the final stage.

I hope to see African teams who made it to the World Cup give us an electrifying performance, I will support every African countries participating in the World Cup, I really want us to do very well and go far in the competition, African countries barely reach the semi final stage of the competition which I expect it to be different this time around, we are many in the World Cup which gives us very good numbers and advantage, for at least one country to be there at the crucial level.

Well I think the both of us are really sharing same ideas to see our people up there i just don’t like how people think it very much impossible that they can not get up there and it so annoying anytime I see such…well even through the last World Cup was more of cheating but I still hope to see a better one this time around…well the part where you made mention of we are many so it should give us chances i think it not the matter of chances it just hard work and smart work that they need this time around…

Now that the Nigeria super eagles didn't qualify to play in coming FIFA world cup, many Nigerians would look for one country that they will support in the FIFA world cup. Although I see it as a normal thing to support any country of your choice since yours failed to qualify.

But for me, am not going to support any country, am going stay  neutral in the coming FIFA world. Not that I don't see reasons to support one of this countries that qualify, since my failed to qualify. I just see it as something that is not necessary, but feel free to support any country of your choice nobody is going to hold it against you nor anyone who chose to support one of the countries playing in the coming FIFA world cup.

The joy one can derive from World Cup is not complete if your country is not participating in the competition. Even though you develop love for other countries and are supporting them, it can’t be the same as when you’re supporting your own country. It's true, African team has ever won the world cup, which is a real shame. I've seen they're playing technique, I've seen their resilience, I've seen their divide conquer pattern, I've seen their different style and the energy to put in each of their games, and I can tell you that the Moroccan team are one of the most sophisticated African teams.

Deep inside, you know that the World Cup would be more interesting when your country is participating. People might be fixing their generators because of the epileptic power supply that is high in the country. You support your country not because it is the best. The nationalistic spirit motivates you to support your country even when it is not among the best.

Saying that the super eagles were disqualified at almost the end of the round will make someone who didn't have full idea how the super eagles world cup qualifiers played out believe that the Super eagles failed to qualify for the World cup because they were qualified. The super eagles weren't disqualify in the world cup qualifying stage; they were knocked out of the world cup play off round by Dr Congo.

I'm so happy that Dr Congo won Jamaica in the inter confederation round and become the 10th African country that will represent Africa in the world cup. Anytime i remember none of the African countries has not won the world cup i am always bittered because Africa has the players good enough to win the world cup but none African countries has been able to win the world cup since it started. Africa is the 3rd biggest continent, and African countries playing in the semi finals or the final stage will not give Africa the respect it deserves when it comes to world cup, so i want the world cup to go come down to Africa this time so that Africa can be seen as force in the world cup.

Africa has it but foreign countries has it more, all there players usually don't start the same way some of our players does, from small they're already on the academy learning and that's something that's easy for parents there to send there children whom they see to start having talent in soccer but in Africa we don't have good football academy and we are not even many compare the way some countries are in all the various leagues and the way they love football is not the same way Africans likes football so I could predict more 20 years time and we wouldn't see any Africa country to win the world Cup because the way Africa take football is as if is not meant for us.

I agree, white people send their children to football academy in their early stage in life and they have the opportunity to become professional footballers, while children in Africa become professional footballers and play abroad by grace, but even with the barrel in Africa football, Africans still find their way to become professional footballers and make it to the top, and if not that African footballers are playing for different countries abroad, African countries would have won the world cup long ago, all hope is not lost for African countries, and i believe Africa will have a world cup on its name.

At last if we support Morocco, they fit return back to pour spit for our face but no problem, for now we go still support every of our own, whenever they play against other countries, I hope they see through the game with a massive win. Africans have terrible records in the World Cup, I so much anticipate great success in the tournament, even if we don't bring the World Cup home, at least we shouldn't be knocked out too early.

The truth still stands as the Nigeria super eagles still didn’t win the game and it was even what was needed at some points i still say Super Eagles didn't make it to the World Cup, but it's awesome we all can still support North African countries and Portugal DR Congo, who eliminated Nigeria, is actually in Portugal's group, so it's gonna be interesting…

You said Morocco recent behaviour has made you to support another African team in the world cup. But your statement that "you will like to support the African teams that will scale through the knockout stage shows that there's a chance for you to support Morocco in the world cup because if Morocco is among the African teams that made it to the knockout stage, you will have no choice but to stand by your word to support African teams that made it to the knockout stage, which includes Morocco.

For sure, the glory will be for Africa, if one African nation wins the World Cup. But let's not have the thought that one North African or African country wins the World Cup. That's not happening anytime soon, not this present or upcoming World Cup. What we should be thinking about, is let many of the African countries not be kicked out from group stage. Let them advance to the quarter and semi finals before they are all kicked out.

Don't get me wrong about not believing in African countries winning the World Cup. I would love them to do that someday, any time soon but let them show a high level of performance in World Cup matches, and we can then rate them higher in chances of winning the World Cup
