I can’t believe I’m actually going to sign up for Netflix to watch a Jake Paul fight. I must admit that I am looking forward to it. I’m pretty sure it’s going to end in a spectacular knockout. My expectations are high.

Why not stream it somewhere for free? I wouldn't spend money just to see this fight actually. Maybe even some betting site will stream it live (when they offer the fight live for betting), that's just a guess though.

Hopefully Paul will get the lights knocked out, but somehow I still have a very odd feeling about this.

I speculate that even if there would be a knockout, then it would be from a body shot. Or the fight will end after several knockdowns during one round. That the best outcome to save health, prove everyone that you are not scared of top boxers and go home with a paycheck

I don't mind paying for an event I'm excited to see.  Netflix does a lot of dumb stuff, I don't mind giving them a few bucks when they do something right.  I'm also sure there's plenty of things I haven't seen on Netflix that will make it so I get my money's worth over the next month.  I'm going to wait to subscribe until the fights kick off so it is obvious that I'm there because of this fight.

I've heard quite a compelling argument on why AJ wouldn't sell out this fight:
- if he loses, that's pretty much game over for him and he would have no choice but to retire.
- if he wins, there's a big likelihood of him fighting the superfight against Tyson Fury in a Saudi-sponsored event, when he would get probably at least 2x more than he is getting for the Paul fight.

They may have some sort of a gentlemen's agreement (or a secret contract clause) that would allow Jake to lose but save his face, e.g. AJ would go easier on him for the first few rounds and not finish him until later rounds, so Jake doesn't get embarrassed and proves that he "belongs" and can fight like an "equal" despite a loss. But either way, AJ should still win.

Dont you want to bet on draw or split decision ? Even though I believe more in secret contract clause than in a rigged with, I dont believe they (judges, sponsors, owner, I dont know who) will allow Jake simply to lose. Simple loss is somehow too easy and too predictive for such event. Where is drama?

P.S. I have a subscription, but I am not planning to watch if live, as I had to stay awake almost till morning. Going to sleep only for few hours and then wake up to see that fight is not my choice. But I will watch it in the morning.

I think I heard that word about retirement on his own promoter he said that the only option left for Joshua if he lost this fight is to retire. This statement really add up some spice on the interest of people following this match especially that they might really think Joshua will not gonna throw that fight due for that reasons.

Paradoxically, the controversies about Paul's previous fights and the risk of this fight being rigged just add to the hype and make it more interesting. If we 100% knew that the fight is not scripted and both will approach it in a serious manner, there would indeed not be much to watch. AJ would finish Jake within 1 or 2 rounds. But the uncertainty adds to the interest.

Well, yes and no. He could lose a bit if he gets absolutely humiliated, e.g. not being able to land a single punch, get effortlessly knocked down by AJ few times, and then KO'd within the first round. If that were to happen, the earning potential of his future fights could be crippled.
So his plan minimum is probably to survive the first few rounds, throw at least a few nice-looking combinations (effective or not) so he could produce some clips/tik-toks out of it, and then just brag about how he stepped to the ring against a former heavyweight champion in his prime and fought like an equal.

I know he already replied to this post but maybe he wants to watch it in the sofa in a 4K TV in a high quality? Free streaming platforms are full of ads and very annoying. I would pay a few bucks to see just one event. Heck, I even paid thousands to watch some UFC fights in live.
By the way, there too many movies and tv series to watch on Netflix.

Exactly how I am feeling right now about the fight, the tension on the side of Antony Joshua is becoming too much, just tomorrow from here or today in other time zone the fight will take place but then what I’m seeing is totally different, Antony Joshua pulling up with a polymarket diamond chain to the ring is something very suspicious to me because there could be an underground agreement with Jake because Jake normal is no match but the confidence is seeming to look a like scripted fight. We can only hope to see a real fight, but what's interesting is that Joshua weight 243.x lbs here, way below the agreed 245 lbs catchweight. I don't know if this is good to him going down this weight. So only know that there is a catch weight, but I don't know if there is also a rehydration clause saying that he can only game x amount of lbs after the final weigh-in as it is also crucial for him as rehydration is very important for boxers to fully put their body in optimal before the actual fight. But we will see if this catch weight will be the advantage of Jake Paul or Joshua still very much comfortable as this weight because he hasn't seen this in the scales for many years.
