I have been overcoming every temptation that is related to something that I have encountered before, that's what reasonable people do, they don't allow their self to fall into a the same problem twice. Although I have not been tempted in this manner but other things is related to this one, there are some situation where a friend would want to persuade you to do something and due to the level of persuasion you will get from that friend, even if what they are persuading you to do is wrong, you will not say no but will end up making same mistake again.  You ability to say no and stand firm on your word means you are reasonable and have self control, at times, that's all you need to survive a situation. Next times, be very harsh, tell them not to bring such game to you, that will prevent them from luring you into any future temptation.

Depending on what I have discussed with the friend before, if I have previously told my friend that I want to stay away from gambling in 2026, then I can get angry with him if he ask to get me a game code again in January, so for the ops he have the right to be angry with his friend for making this suggestion as a way of tempting him to gamble again.

Many times if we do speak about persuation or trying out to convince me on betting on a particular team or even on e-sports specially with my friends and having those claims that those are sure wins. Well, there are some bets on which i do tend to check out on which it is eventually having on the same choices considering that you can be able to make up some research and able to prove out that it was a right choice but actually if you dont feel on making up some bets for that day then it will be that up to you whether you would be that agreeing on what he proposed on taking up some bets but actually it would be just that up to you. That's a very nice approach to treat every game the same; as long as you don't put your confidence on it, everything will be fine, and you won't have to stake higher amounts like what the OP was describing. I also take games from others, but I take time to go through the game before I put my money on it, not like I stake on it blindly. If your friend is sure that it would be a banger, let him go and take a loan and bet on those games. I have been offered such games so many times. Gambling for me is for entertainment, so I would never put in money I cannot afford to lose. I am not interested in these sure bets because they often turn out to be negative.  

To tell you how deceitful some persons can be, they might have the money to use in betting on that game but because they are not certain about the game, they will look for someone that they can brainwash to believe that the game they have is a sure game and then ask the person to stake on the game, if luckily the person wins the bet, they will ask the person to split the profit with them because they brought the game to the person but if the person lose the game, they will not even show concern to the person, some people can be that deceitful. Where money is involved, you should definitely think twice before making any decision. Because if someone invites you for something and if there is money involved and he does not make you understand the issues clearly, then you should never go there. The reason for this is that if you use any kind of money there, you will lose it and the person who is inviting you to play it will win your money and you will be financially damaged. In these cases, I will directly decline his invitation.

Yes, +20 years ago. I guess sooner or later we all learn how to deal with "big promises", and that doesn't have to be about gambling alone. The first rule of anything that involves money, if it's too good to be true, run away. Life is to simple for you to know that if it's doing well and paying well, that your friend that involved you to the game will not allow bring that game to you. It's either there is a referral to such kind of games or there is something beneficial that he is going to get from it. If you look at it simply, it's easy for him to use his own money and make that money that he want uou to make.

If you must carry risk, let it be the one that is whort the risk, don't take a risk that is going to affect you later and don't borrow money to try a new thing that will end up as regret. I have had this experience before and I lost big money because of the motivation. The funny part is that the friend is a very good pundit whose games have made many people rich, it happens that when he finally decided to give me game was when it was willing to fail. He usually play overturn in which one game will win first half and the other team will equalize and win full time. That fateful day, he brought two matches like that with 31 odd and 21 odds respectively and they were played at different times. The first one that played was a success so I was so motivated that the combine ticket was going to play. One of the singles I played gave me nice win so it was remaining the other single and the parley I decided to take the risk of my life. I used the entire winning from the first single to bet the remaining match and still went and emptied my wallet to bet the game. First half the right team won, second half the other team equalized and was winning even up till 89 minutes. Before we knew it, the other team equalized and the game ended in a draw.
