He may be addicted. Or maybe he may be looking for money to clear his hospital bills hence the betting.. but regardless, for you to be on oxygen means that the case is so severe that you are either not able to breathe well by yourself or your organs are not getting enough oxygen saturation and it is very serious because definitely your organs need oxygen to function well. So at this point I think that his health would have been more important than whatever bet he is placing. This definitely is addiction because why can't you wait till you are out of critical condition and the oxygen taken off before you start betting again.
This is a No No and it's not good. At least get better before doing all that, you can only see the wins if you are alive

It is not just a high enthusiasm or interest, it is an addiction in a word. He is gambling despite being physically ill. Some games or pleasures have to be stopped due to the situation, but his addiction has reached such a level that it is not possible for him and he is not even considering his health. He is immersed in the game, ignoring everything about his health, the real world. Of course, the situation he is in is not a pleasant environment, so his behavior is a sign of a high level of addiction.

From the picture in the Op it doesn’t seem like the individual is on oxygen.But whatever it is,it’s abnormal for an individual who’s on oxygen to engage in the gambling activities while lying on the sick bed.Gambling should be done at the right state of mind and also at the right time.Most unhealthy gambling habits aren’t done out of addiction rather in most cases it is done out of stupidity.A grown man should know when and where to gamble,or does the hospital look like a casino hall to him?Anyways,most people feel they can place a bet anywhere they find themselves because the internet has made everything easy.

I can't say if this is addiction or not because the his health condition might not be serious. However, when you cannot stay away from gambling no matter the circumstances playing around you at that moment. It means that you're already an addict. Why didn't he just relax and leave the hospital before gambling.

People don't know the right time to gamble because they're always thinking of making profits all the time and that's why they gamble anywhere. You should only gamble in a good state of mind during your leisure hours.

Whether he has a serious condition or not, what is currently understood from the content is that he is gambling while hospitalized, which I would definitely call a gambling addiction. If his condition in the hospital is not as that critical to that extent and he wish to have some time having fun, then there's nothing bad in seeing him try to gamble and whine away time and be well entertained, sometimes it could be boring being in the hospital admitted and you missed some of the things you're used to, but once the condition becomes critical, no one inform you to be cautioned and not to gamble, you know what is best for your own self at each stages of your life.

Although sometimes it’s good for sick people to engage in some kind of fun activity that’ll help them alleviate some kind of mental stress, so if the person is 100% positive that he’s actually just doing it for the fun of it, then I see no reason why they can’t. But if they know that even in the slightest way that they feel some sort of emotional pressure or distress when they gamble then gambling is the worst activity they’ll need to get involved with, and they don’t even need the doctor or anyone to tell them this first before they know it.

Some people do this and ignore their own health even though they have been admitted to the hospital, making excuses for entertainment and such,
but gambling in a state of illness if it does not add to the burden of his mind it may be a mental drug, but if it is only forced to gamble because of acute addiction, it cannot be justified.

Because gambling is like playing a regular game which can give a feeling of pleasure to the game and the right conditions.

There is no need to judge someone because he opened a gambling site while he was hospitalized,
it could just be another way to satisfy his psychological cravings, because what we know is that someone who continues to gamble endlessly has a severe addiction.

Perhaps his illness isn't related to his heart or brain at all, because if he had some kind of heart condition, doctors wouldn't allow him to play games because it could increase his anxiety and stress and worsen his condition. Also, doctors wouldn't let him use his phone if his illness were serious. I think this must be some kind of joke he and his relatives are playing. I don't believe it's serious.

No this is the height of it, this addiction is very bad, how can someone with this health condition still be gambling, how does he wants to be well with the mindset of wanting to make money that is not guaranteed on his sick bed, how unstable will he be and making it difficlult for the nurses to treat.

It is possible that this might not even be addiction. Someone might be on a drip, but that doesn't mean the person is addicted to gambling, which is why gambling continues.

There are some people who might be on a drip, but their condition might not prevent them from doing something else. In the case of this person, we can't really tell if he is in such a bad state that he shouldn't be gambling but feels compelled to do so. If the person is in a condition where he is not strong enough to gamble but has the urge to gamble, then we can consider that to be addiction.

Do you know whether the supposed young man is gambling with the amount he can afford to lose. Someone being ill doesn't mean they shouldn't continue to do what makes them happy. It's just like telling someone not to operate their phone or play games for the time being because they are ill. Curiosity only comes when that which is involved is capable for changing once life when all expectations comes as expected but one thing that is sure is focus which profit yes he may be in critical situation where favour can come through gambling.  As for the issue of addiction in gambling, its a dangerous sickness who's solution is just self determination and working with a well structured principle that directs one in and out movement in gambling. On that issue he deserves freedom to do what he wishes.

I just see this as someone who just want to kill some time while waiting for his test results or something else, your doctor will visit you once or twice until you recovered and if you are in position to do something doesn't necessarily mean you are addicted to that.

What if you told, instead of mobile, if the person is reading a book? Would you call him as book addict?

We can't be sure if he's really into gambling addiction, because from what I can think based on the picture, he's just enjoying some time so he won't get too tied with his illness, and I don't see any wrong with that. Betting makes us entertained, as long as it doesn't cross our limits.

However, I also have this concept that if he can stay away from gambling while he's still ill, then that would be best for him. He should be taking rest and avoid unnecessary high emotions as that would compromised his health condition.

It depends on the reason he's receiving oxygen. It could simply be that he has a bit of asthma or mild respiratory difficulty that requires a little oxygen, because we see him in the image sitting down without leaning back anywhere, which leads me to think that he's not extremely tired.

A person who is seriously ill would at least be lying down. Besides, holding a phone isn't exactly a health risk for this type of medical condition. But I understand the point, because when I've had asthma, I've had a lot of trouble concentrating, even though I try.

There's no description link on the image, so we really don't know the whole story. Maybe he has that condition ever since, where he needs a supply of oxygen for life, but if he is recuperating from illness, then it's not good to engage in betting, it will excite his nerves, which will result in shortness of breath.
He could suffer from a heart attack if he keeps doing this. The oxygen tank is not enough to calm his system from too much excitement. If you're suffering from health issues, you should take a gamble on your health and just come back when you are better.

You may be wrong thinking it's addiction, while the main intention may be different, I had a thought after seen this message that he is actually using the little time he has to wrap up his luck on gambling set so he could afford to pay the hospital bills while laying down. He may not have friends or relatives or wife that could pay off the treatment expenses, so he could be lucky enough through gambling to pay off the bills.

That's my take on this, a gambling addict won't be allowed by the medical care to participate in any online gambling while on hospital bed, so maybe he might have taken the permission to do so, so he can clear 8the bills if luck finds him.

How does gambling actually make the sick feel better,  or create self relief during illness? I actually find this really concerning that even on life support, gambling still comes to mind because I see it as something that causes mental stress and excites the brain only to cause more damage, so how does that help?
