I voted fun because that is where I belong in gambling so I don't count my losses while gambling because I don't want to be trigger to get rich quick through gambling. However, since losing is part of the game it's better to gamble responsibly without keeping track of the money that you can not afford to get back, so I have never thought of being profitable in the game because I know that gambling depends on luck.

I voted for the deficit and I hoped to find majority there which I found as that is why gambling is created in the first place but what took my attention were to see quite a big number of winners in here and that made me really curious. How do you guys that are in profit make it possible to be like that during the long run, you most likely play skill games like poker or games where skill is still somewhat more relevant like sport betting or you play slot machines which for me is highly unlikely to keep people in profit for a long period of time. I would love some hints and tips from the winners so I can become a winner too, I have had enough of being the loser always in this game and now I don't want to lose even more money, so such tips would be truly appreciated from the winners circle here.

By the general vacuum most of us may be termed as deficit losers in gambling, but because most of us are not focused to winning in gambling and don't see any losses made as a deficiency on our own side, we should therefore move on and continue gambling irrespective of the outcome on any bet taken, you don't have to be more calculative on the ratio of losses to that of winning, if truly we have taken gambling as a form of entertainment.

Reading this thread ( What have you achieved through gambling? ) inspired me to create this poll (in many posts, users indicate that they've gained almost nothing from their gambling hobby). Why? I was curious: how many users (at least within this section) actually gain anything at all at the casino? I'm not talking about the "entertainment" aspect, but rather the financial aspect.

In this poll, I don't mean the number of wins and losses, but rather how much you earned or lost (expressed in money).

To me this question is not really necessary because it can trigger the hearts of gamblers and make them begin to think about the losses they have encountered while gambling all along so this question shouldn't be asked but if we really want to look at the question in particular, we have more losers than winners when it comes to statically aspects of gambling, those who lose are many compared to those who win because winning is difficult to come by, you have to go through series of looses before you can be able to win a substantial amount of money from gambling and you must have spent alot before that winning comes.

Those who bet for entertainments still loose money because it's funds they use but the difference is that they don't get bothered if they don't win compared to someone who is betting to make profits, due to the ratio of looses from my end I believe  I'm on the loosing side of gambling I haven't really won what I have used in gambling for a longer period now.

when you are counting your losses in gambling you will regret participating in gambling so most at times we've been the gamblers do not like to record the number of losses we have experience because if we do we are going to be disappointed and also blend ourselves at the same time, and saying that you are gambling for fun so many of us do claim that they are gambling for fun while they have another intention why they are into gambling, you can vote for fun but not really what makes you to participate in gambling I will say that almost 85% of gamblers what makes them to become a gambler is that they want to win and they want to accumulate they have money through gambling

Most people you ask this question will answer: "I gamble just for fun." But is that really the case? I don't think so.

Personally, I believe that most gamblers do so for money, not for enjoyment. Only a very small minority don't gamble for money, and these are mostly wealthy people or at least people who don't need the money and they are very few. The vast majority gamble because they want to get rich, earn more money, or because they are poor people who think they can improve their financial situation through gambling.

Many gamblers, especially those from poor countries, fall for this trick. They probably heard about their neighbor winning and making a little money, so everyone in the neighborhood assumed they could do the same. But that's how gambling works. Everyone thinks they'll be lucky, not the other players, but it's better to think not about how lucky we'll be, but rather how we'll beat them. Once I started thinking about this, my results improved slightly; before that, I was just a losing player.

Unfortunately, this is true. Here in my community, I see many such cases. Some poor people see successful individuals whose lives have changed due to a stroke of luck in gambling, so they start gambling and begin losing. Some even sell their possessions or borrow money.

And so, instead of improving their financial situation, it worsens, and they sink deeper into debt.

Why no? Sometimes need to face the truth and assess whether a gambler is on the right path. A sober assessment of the situation allows you to analyze and make changes in your life, if necessary.

And this raises a question about casino advertising campaigns that "cry out" about the chance to win. Are they deceiving us? Because the results of this small poll and discussion in this thread suggest that the gambling industry should be promoting its services as a place to get  "pleasure", not profit.

How many times have I had to compare my losses and wins? In the end, after adding up all my money, I was left with a huge deficit. And not only that. I had accumulated a huge loan, which I paid off for almost seven years. It was difficult, since almost all my money went towards paying it off. This is the price I had to pay for my recklessness. Why didn't I stop in time? Gambling consumed me completely. I became deeply addicted. And what did it lead to? Only disappointment.

Good decision. That's the best thing one should do if gambling is no longer beneficial on one's part. No one felt entertained anyway if the losses that lead to disappointments have become unbearable. You should have quit from gambling before it caused you that far.

However, on my part, I don't want to calculate my losses because for sure that's a huge deficit already since I have been gambling even in college days. Thankfully, I never allow that losses to manipulate me that could lead me into gambling addiction. I'm still in full control of my gambling activities, and investment first before gambling.

Whether one is counting their wins or not, we already know that gambling is a game where the players remains in a circle of both losses and wins, the road to being a winner is not smoth and the road to being a losses is not also without winning. If there are very lucky people who stay a winner for a long time without losing, it's only few people and the possibility of that happening is very slim. But the approach which you are using in gambling is not bad.

Frankly speaking, I do not count my own PnL gambling statistic although I do not gamble merely for fun so I have no idea what to vote.
What I do care is that anytime I spend my money on gambling, it will not affect my real life if I lose the money.
Am I winner or loser is not that important, if I can control my gambling habit responsibly then I have to declare myself as a winner because it will be useless if I win against the house but I cant control myself later.

You have a point, not many people are able to continue being in profit for long, the percentage of those losing are way higher than that of people that are winning that's to say that gambling is a losing game. A lot of people don't understand what making profit In gambling means, it is all about what is achieved In the long run.

I see myself as a winner in gambling not because I am winning my games but because I am more satisfied with every time spent gambling, we can have different interpretation to what winning is to us and how we could be a loser in anything we do, there is individual way of how we could get convinced in things we do, but as for me, gambling is still serving every purpose so why I am found being a gambler.

By the last game, based on the number of transactions I had made, I could call myself the winner. Winner not in terms of money but in terms of the number of games played. In terms of transactions, I had only lost 2% of my total deposit. This means I concluded that my position was still balanced and I was confident I had good luck to win with the amount I had spent in the form of jackpots, considering I only played two types of games: slots and soccer betting.

I believe that the truth behind gambling is that the majority of them will lose more than win and this is just the way the system has been set up. The house has always got an upper hand and thus one can be guaranteed a constant profit and thus frustration normally follows. I think the more sensible way to think about gambling is that it is a form of entertainment, and not a sure way of earning money. When one gambles with the aim of making profits, each loss is painful and in most cases compels them to pursue losses making the situation worse. However, when an individual spends money he/she can spare and prioritizes the experience over the result, then it becomes much easier to take the losses and gambling will be less stressful in general.

It's because you believe that there's a loss and win factor in gambling that's why you can simply accept your losses when it happens, despite how often it may be because there's no way to change the fact that the losers are more than the losers in gambling. Making profit can be so exciting, it's a feeling every gambler would like to get, be you a person who gambles for fun, but making profit your focal point is where the problem starts from not accepting losses.

I don’t know if I can maintain the profit until the end of the month. But I plan to add a small deposit for the next week to try my luck in casino games. I am rarely lucky with casino games, earning more wins from sports betting.

But this realization lead me to a path that we should gamble for fun and for entertainment, and that we should not be counting our losses, otherwise we will lose the essence of looking it as an entertainment.

To gamble is to lose and that proves that everyone who gambles have experienced losses in gambling, so yes everyone might be facing deficits due to the nature of gambling. So it's not surprising that majority is voting for the last option, since they can't beat the casino's house, then they rather not to count the losses as well and just continue gambling for fun.

It's not wrong to stay gambling, but if you are blinded by your greed, don't bother to continue gambling, just leave it as an option when your other hobbies seem no longer interesting or productive.

It makes sense you can get some profit from betting on sports, instead of doing it by gambling on casino games. That means you have a considerable edge against other bettors, who may not have as much intuition or understanding of sports like you do.

Honestly, I have never been able to get any significant money off betting on sports, I simply recognize I don't have such a level of experience and also I don't have time to get up-to-date with the much relevant information concerning sports I like.

At some point every gamblers have to reach the conclusion you did, otherwise they will continue losing more and more money without limits. The more gamblers fight against the harsh truth, more they will suffer by chasing losses and accumulating debt.

To accept the fact in gambling gamblers are losers is a responsible conclusion which can lead them to decide if gambling is truly where they should put their money into, or if there are another priorities in life and even more entertaining activities they should get engaged with instead of gambling.

I definitely don't know the exact amount I have won or lost to gambling, but one thing is certain I am in the loser's category.

I know that I am not winning (I don't think I fall under those who still believe that they are winning after losing $500 and then win back $50 & $70) so my entire gambling is being conducted carefully so I don't keep increasing that loser's margin that I am already in. All I do now is simply to make a very small deposit and then try as much as possible to enjoy and also see if I can get something from it. I think that has helped me a lot from both addiction and losing money to gambling.
