I try to understand why this happens. And I don't think it's stupidity. Smart people fall into this trap too.

It's always like that for gamblers who are gambling for profits because even if you win the next bet, it doesn't mean that it will cover up for all your losses or will they stop gambling. Some gamblers are just too greedy that they see giving up on their losses as a weakness and they use that word to encourage themselves why they need to continue chasing their losses.

Every gambler needs to discipline himself and have self control on his gambling activities because if you don't, addiction will be the order of the day. Stop the game at the right time because it's not a must to make profit whenever, you are gambling.

You are right, it happened to me a lot before and I know this happened too on other people. I think it's not stupidity but I think it's more like greed because we know that there's a chance even a tiny bit that we are going to win even though statistically and in reality it's most likely not going to happen. There's one time that I did the "Just one more" and ended up losing more than the first deposit I've done and that's actually a different one and definitely fix it lol. So, even though it didn't go well, ironically it fixes everything.

joking aside... this is just another psychological trick. Sportsbook but mostly casinos have a clear interest to give "free bets".
Free spins, free bets or whatever... Here there is a bias. Even if you win a small amount you feel "happy", since "you can recover" you can "win".
Some casino knows very well this trick. If they see a big bet that doesn't ends well, you get free bets, free spins.
If you're gambling avoiding random bets this would not change anything. The problem arise with problematic gamblers.
I know a friend in real life that has always been hooked by this scheme. Nowadays we have clearly an issue with that, just to think on how can be easily to gamble online or playing a casino.

That's very common, and the most common factors are the sunk cost fallacy, thinking that because you've invested money and time, it's worth continuing. Many people think that, statistically, if they've had many bad rounds, a good one will eventually come, and that's where the problems usually begin.

Have you ever invested in bitcoin hoping that after a particular period of time the price of bitcoin will get to a certain level only for such period to come and you then discover that the market is still doing badly? At such time, what normally comes to your mind? Is it tye thought of quitting in your investment or rather a thought of trying again because you believe that the market will still recover?

The fact is that we always believe that the next outcome is going to be a positive one and that's what has kept us going not just in gambling but in life in general. The thought of a positive outcome primarily pushes us to take up new risk and though if not properly manage might lead to something bad, it's still the only guarrantee that a positive outcome can be seen in the long run.

We humans need to realize that humans have big and high desires, humans cannot be separated from the nature of greed, gluttony and covetousness, that is what makes us when we carry out gambling activities want to try again, once again we are sure to win and so on.

It usually happens to me with wins, I will go for just one more and one more a few times before realising I am ran out of my luck already. And yeah, it is common to feel that way, if we win we will be assuming that this is our lucky day so we might win more or if we are losing, that will trigger a different mindset that as per the "Law of average" we are due for a win, but these all are mere assumptions that has no actual thing to back.

Op that is the gambler's mind in gambling and nobody can question that philosophy of gambling. And that is the draining point of a gambler.  Gamblers like to try their luck in the next game. So what can stop that is a budget so that once the budget has been exhausted, you can stop gambling. And discipline yourself can deal with that mindset if not that next game is always dangerous.

Sometimes it does actually fix it, that next bet can actually fetch back all those losses and make everything okay again, at least it has for me sometimes, but the real question is, what next after that? Are you brave enough to say it’s time to leave just after a such narrow escape or would you be stupid enough to go right back in to see if your luck can fetch you some more win when it’s already clear that it’s just not your day. This is often where a lot of gamblers who manage to actually recover with that las bet allow themselves to get trapped.

For me it works a bit differently, I have winning and losing bets, like any player. But in my profile I can check the statistics of my bets, and I see that I don’t have long winning or losing streaks. Most of the time, the bets alternate, and sometimes there are more winning ones. That is enough for me to understand how good I am at betting. And based on this statistics, I can understand what to expect in the future. So I don’t have big illusions about betting, and I just bet for entertainment, I have nothing to fix in my betting, so I don’t expect that the next bet should somehow cover my previous losses.

Truth be told, you are right, which it has happened to most of us and still even happening. But for me, the only to fixed it is by being disciplined, because once one has guided themselves with the understanding of discipline can able to make informed choices that will not have to exposed us to danger, but aid one to stay grounded to their initial purpose, which one has to ensure that they are working by their rules and to protect oneself from stressing their mental health, they have to be careful and caution of their action.

 I think its not about how smart someone is it is about how our brain trick us into thinking that the next win will erase all previous mistakes which i have done . we aalso feels that there will be a win after a losing streak. but if we see it is a new start with same previous mistakes  and as you say that 'just one more' this thought is a dangerous trap because it is based on emotion not on logic and then it adds more problems instead of fixing it

This is an instinct in gambling and most gamblers believe that maybe the next bet will recover all the losses made in the past and everything will be fine.
But in the case of gambling, such blind faith does not bring results, but like any other bet, subsequent bets also face losses.
In my life, I have been in situations many times where, after losing multiple times in the past, I finally feel like I will win the last bet and recover all my past losses, but that doesn't happen to me in reality, and the last bet also brings negative results.

Like I said in one of the topics that I started a while ago, although this is not beneficial in gambling, it is one of the positive attributes that can be developed from gambling that is positivity to keep going even in the face of failure.

If an individual could adopt such a mindset from gambling and apply it to life as well as chase their goals, they would be unstoppable because they would not stop in the face of failure but would keep going until success is achieved.
