It most reside with newly gamblers but infrequently there are old gamblers that for their greed are subjected to this behaviour and are addicted but do not know they have addiction problem.

Would addicted gamblers admit they have that problem? Most of the time, no. Because if they truly admit it, that would also mean they need to stop gambling, and that’s the hard part.

That’s why addiction is very dangerous, because addicted gamblers will always find a way to justify their actions. Just like in this topic, some people think that with the next bet they’ll be able to bounce back and recover their losses.

That kind of mindset is wrong because it’s based more on hope and luck, not on real probability. Casinos are built around their edge, so no matter how much we try to convince ourselves otherwise, the truth will still prevail. We can’t deny that in the long run, we will lose most of the time.

Addicted gamblers will always have a reason to continue, they are in denial about the real situation that they are in, and will say its just a bad luck the next one will be a win in my part,
What i found out in someone who is addicted in the gambling is that, The basic reason why it will not discontinued gambling, is when it remember what it has lost from gambling...so it decide to pursue it so that it will regain things it has lost from gambling...

But not knowing the once you keep on chasing your losses it's when you're losing more and more than your expectations from gambling, actually we have both bad lock and good luck in gambling, but the bad side of consistent gambling is higher that someone who is gambling with what it can afford to lose...

Most gamblers think they could recover all their losses with just one lucky win, that thought has been the major driving factor that makes them think they would win the next game/bet after several attempts. It is usually said by most persons that greed is also a driving factor to this scenario,in their perspective they’re correct because a greedy person always want more than they expect or needed. But in this scenario, you aren’t winning either,so why not quit and call it day instead of playing with high expectations that isn’t coming true

I think it's something deeper. The brain really believes that the next outcome will somehow negate the previous one. As if the universe owes you something.
Maybe that's what is called curiosity. There is always curiosity about the next result, one spin after another, the results can sometimes be good but more often bad.
Like a few hours ago while playing, I only wanted to play for less 10 minutes but it turned out to be more than an hour until I finally stopped because my balance was already 0, what was on my mind was always wanting to know the next result, especially since the multiplier that had been obtained had not brought any satisfaction.

Most gamblers have experienced this. You're feeling down. Maybe a little, maybe a lot. And instead of shutting down and stopping, you find yourself thinking, "just one more." This time it will be different. This time it will fix it.

It never fixes it. But that doesn't stop us from thinking about it.
I try to understand why this happens. And I don't think it's stupidity. Smart people fall into this trap too.

I think it's something deeper. The brain really believes that the next outcome will somehow negate the previous one. As if the universe owes you something.

Have you ever said "just one more" and then stopped after that one? Or has that one more ever changed anything?
Well, when it comes to gambling, I'm not addicted to it, so if I say just one more, then it means, I'm addicted. I don't do just one more, the moment I feel like my luck sucks today, I'm stopping immediately. The just one more mentality is a sign of lack of discipline and addiction to gambling.

About the second question, I've seen some guys go for just one more and get it right, but I haven't experienced it though, although I've had an experience where my last bet gave me a win but that's just it.

Because casinos understand our human nature perfectly well: we assume that only good things will happen to us in the future, and all the bad will disappear when we hit a huge win that will fix all the problems, including debts, deception, and the tears of loved ones. But the casino is relentless—it's mathematics, after all. And if loss follows loss, then the funds will continue to go only to profiting for the casino, and not to helping the gambler fix their problems. Therefore, optimism in gambling is a somewhat two-sided feeling, and often works against the gambler.

This is not merely a moral or social issue. It is an ontological one — because it touches the fundamental structure of how a human being exists in the world.

Human consciousness works as a two-way interface between the self and reality. It receives signals, interprets them, reacts to them, and is gradually shaped by repeated exposure. What we call “personality,” “will,” “taste,” “desire,” or even “identity” is not formed in isolation. It is formed through contact with the world — through what we repeatedly see, hear, consume, imitate, tolerate, and normalize.

In this sense, toxic information, addictive content, destructive environments, degrading social patterns, pornography, drugs, violence, nihilistic entertainment, and other corrosive inputs can be understood as negative exposure.

Reducing exposure to destructive inputs is not weakness. It is not fear of life. It is a way to protect attention, identity, emotional stability, moral clarity, and behavioral control.

Less exposure is not avoidance. It is control over the signals that shape your mind.

You do not become yourself in isolation. You become yourself through repeated exposure. That is why controlling exposure is not oppression — it is identity protection.

This simple idea explains why some forms of control are not only necessary, but good. A healthy environment requires boundaries. A child, and even an adult, cannot be treated as an abstract free agent floating outside influence. Human beings are permeable. We are shaped by what enters us.

Total freedom in the shallow, popular sense often does not produce strength. It produces a degraded will. It produces dependency. It opens the door to addictions, compulsions, trauma, disorder, and forms of slavery that disguise themselves as liberation.

This is why there is so much tension around government, society, family, discipline, tradition, and the conflict between parents and children. These archetypal structures do not exist only because someone wants to control you, frame your knowledge, or limit your experience. They also exist because it takes time, suffering, knowledge, and maturity to understand that many things sold as “freedom” are actually traps.

A child sees restriction. An adult, if he has lived enough and thought deeply enough, may eventually see protection.

When parents say, “We do not allow drugs, pornography, weapons, criminal behavior, or destructive company,” they are not necessarily trying to suffocate life. At their best, they are doing something closer to stopping you from breathing fumes from a gas pipe. They are not taking life away from you. They are blocking malicious exposure from entering you before you are strong enough to understand what it does.

Of course, control can become pathological. It can become tyranny, fear, manipulation, and domination. But the existence of bad control does not mean that all control is bad. The real question is not “control or no control.” The real question is: what kind of control, by whom, for what purpose, and toward what kind of human being?

A reasonable amount of healthy control from childhood can create a freer person than unlimited access to every impulse.

Because the person who is “allowed everything” may not become free at all. He may simply become available — available to addiction, propaganda, lust, rage, manipulation, cheap pleasure, and every industry designed to harvest his attention and weaken his will.

In the end, many people discover something uncomfortable: the person who spent more time reading books, training the body, eating clean food, developing discipline, and living in a structured environment may become broader, stronger, happier, and more genuinely free than the person who was given unlimited access to sex, drugs, and rock’n’roll.

The first life looks restricted from the outside.

The second life looks free from the outside.

But often, when you walk both roads to their logical end, you realize that the second one can be a much deeper form of slavery.

That's a good decision, which a  healthy gambling lifestyle, that most people are fighting to exhibit, because there is no gain in addiction which leads to destruction rather than having fun in it. So stay focused and keep gambling as a game it is and not don't change you mindset even though you got the reasons to, because gambling has its way of tricky one into pitfalls that might cause them to make irrational decision, which will deprived them of peace.

Curiosity pushes one to encounter some dangers for themselves and this is often cause by lack of contentment, which they could have practice by disciplining themselves to avoid things that will hurt them and damage their lives, which their financial aspects won't be an expection. Which they could have corrected when they got the time, though its not an easy going game but discipline and  contentment helps to beat the curiosity in them, which can produce or give them what they want in gambling.

Lack of contentment is the reason why a lot of gamblers have extended gambling sessions, this is mainly due to the fact that they are constantly chasing profits which results to losses and this is what they try to fix by gambling more but it only compounds more losses. Most times it is not even curiosity it's just greed and indiscipline. One way to avoid falling into this trap is to stop making gambling w source of income.

Addicted gamblers will always have a reason to continue, they are in denial about the real situation that they are in, and will say its just a bad luck the next one will be a win in my part, they will always find a way to prove that they are right and that all the loss are just normal and all that will be good in the end, but eventually that is the start of their disaster.
This is what gambling is putting in their heads, false hope we should say, and they are buying it because they are hook on gambling, that's why gamblers never stop.
Addicted gamblers are preoccupied with winning  and all other else are just not what's in their book. All they could really think about is that they're not getting something right that's why they're losing, and by this, they do all they can to see that they can be winning the bets all the way. The real problem is that of the self denial, once a gambler don't think that there's something wrong about how he's gambling compulsively, just know they have come to the edge of a self destruction which only with time they get to feel it.

Defining this as curiosity feels a bit odd. I’m not entirely sure if we can define the expectation that our chances of winning will increase in the next bet even though the odds remain the same every time as curiosity. Actually, what you describe and define as curiosity is also known as the gambler's fallacy in the literature. Still, different perspectives are always good.

I have said one more many times and I didn’t stop after those one more, on different occasions, I kept on playing. This is just part of a gambler’s life, Provided you still have money with you and you are enjoying the game, the one more will turn to hours. Few times my one more has changed my fortune for the day and I ended up winning a substantial amount for that day. There was a day I was left with my last cash which I would have used to pay for transportation back home, but somehow I was move to stake one more and that one more came out really good and I got more than enough to go home with.

That’s the right way to think about it… but only when the outcome depends on you, not on the probability of “rolling a lucky number.” For example, in sports, this works-one more attempt at an exercise, a training session, a sparring match, or a race is guaranteed to bring you closer to success. Another attempt to test the theory of probability-yes, it will bring you a little closer to the probability of a random win, but... it’s not guaranteed!

when I lost money for the first time while gambling, due to emotion or greed, I gambled repeatedly to get back the lost money, as a result I lost more money. Through this, I understood one thing well, that is, greed blind people, proper judgment does not work, so the results are positive. When I bet repeatedly because of losing while gambling, every time l felt that I would win this time and get back all the money I lost. This misconception is still prevalent among many, all gamblers who get out of this misconception and gamble will be able to control their greed and protect themselves from losing extra money and from the horrors of gambling. Gambling is basically for entertainment, gambling to make money is very risky.

Well, we always hope for something better, hence, we continue to try our luck. And for us, the next one, maybe the answer to our prayers. And usually, it is not. The reason why we don't stop and continue to try our luck. In that manner, before we know it, we are spending quite significant amount of money already. So you need to decide whether you will continue or to have a pause before you submerge yourself to financial troubles.

Yes, it's always good to stop; there's nothing better than that when we're faced with so much indecisiveness while playing. Besides, gaming is about money; we can't lose money just because we feel bad or try to see if our desire has faded, because then we wouldn't enjoy the game anymore. It would become something we don't want, like an obligation or something we have to do. No, for that I won't play anymore; I'll stop losing money; I won't take the risk.

I think this has to be biggest challenge some gamblers have, finding it difficult to accept their losses and move on from it makes them chase constantly which leads to more losses in the long run. Even though there is a possibility of recovering what you have lost by chasing this doesn't change the fact that it is risky and overtime it could lead to gambling addiction. Chasing losses doesn't end well most times.
People should learn how not to gamble with an amount which they can't let go of easily; that's where some of this gambling addiction gets triggered from. Another thing is having overconfidence in a game. They are not the programmer or the owner; the disappointment that such a loss gives them is always unacceptable, and they will have to start chasing their losses just to see if the money could be recovered back, and they keep on increasing the loss amount on each game they stake on again.

Gambling with the mindset of making money is very wrong perspective and this has made many people lose alot of money. Although sometimes, gambling may welcome you when you newly started by winning your first gambling. This has made alot of people believe gambling is easy and then put all earning. Then they lose but this isn't give them a warning, they continue to the extent of borrowing money to gamble.

But why would a gambler even approach gambling with so much high expectations, even when they win a particular amount, it’s never enough for them, they’ll even use the amount they won to put back into the casino with expectations of winning a much higher amount. This attitude can cost a gambler so much. Gambling isn’t a place to come make a living, and the sooner gamblers realize this, the better for them, and the more they’ll learn to gamble with realistic expectations.

Curiosity is a common feeling in gambling and many people have likely experienced this, leading to significant losses. Self discipline is a solution to prevent bad behavior or significant losses, but establishing discipline in gambling is not easy.
