You've just made me realize this now like seriously speaking I don't see any Arsenal fans talking about that miss actually both home and abroad, like it's quite unusual, no doubt that love is indeed massive, unlike other teams they will want to crucify him, mostly teams like Chelsea and Manchester United, these fans base don't always take it easy on their players when they make mistakes most the one that is as this important, like they really amazed me, and this will be indeed a great motivation for Gabriel to come back stronger next season, kudos to the Gunners fans.

Four years later, now in the summer of 2026, he already won two Champions League titles with PSG in two latest seasons. The most interesting part is that Arsenal remained undefeated throughout the tournament. No team won them and none of their games went to extra time except for the final. Despite Arsenal losing in the penalty shootout they still had a good record overall. I was impressed at their performance. PSG too was under pressure, they penalty they got showed some sign of relieve but overall they knew they were up for a huge challenge. I think experience was PSG advantage during the shootout and Arsenal lost they confidence they had from the start. I hope Arsenal tries harder next season.

This Arsenal were to close having an “invincibles” season in the champions league, it would have beautiful if they had won the CL trophy. However, I wouldn’t put too much pressure on the players for next season. One tends to go far when everyone underestimates you but now Arsenal has lost that advantage because teams know that Arsenal are top contenders for the trophy and will do their best to knock them out.

It is human nature to criticize players for a wrong forgetting how much the player has contributed to the team. Gabriel is the best defender for Arsenal in this season which they won the Premier league, he also contributed to their success to reach the final, one miss which changed the faith of the game is what people wants to get a hold on, even Messi and big players too has missed penalties in crucial tournaments, i wish Gabriel will have the tough mentality to overcome what social pressure.

I don't think any Arsenal fan is angry with Gabriel missing the penalty in the final of the champions league,  infact he was shown so much love that the sale of his jersey even increased to a whopping 350%. If you see or hear people criticize Gabriel, they are definitely rival fans that is just saying it for banter or hate. Arsenal fans even have to carry placards saying we still love you Gabriel during the trophy parade. I really don't think that miss will even bring him down, rather it's going to be a motivation for him going into next season, because he knows how much he is loved by the fans.

He lost one of the rare chances they have gotten so far after  years of trying to lift the UEFA Champions  League  trophy. Yes it's  always a mistake no player ever wish to lose a penalty so it's  perfectly normal . But , in games like that Fans do not care , just don't  be the victim.

Arsenal dropped in performance at some point and that was the period that people were losing hope on them already and for you to attain Victory it will be best for you to remain consistent that is the only way things can be better and they would have prepared even before they met against psg and even before the finals they did not allow some players play but even at that they were finding it hard to still win and arsenal is among one of the clubs that maintain its players for a very long time they need to do better by just putting competency first because having good players will give you consistency.

Ok if you look at it from a perfectly theoretical perspective, any team that is qualified could win the Champions League and there have been major surprises in the past, but it still holds true that you could tell who would 99.9% of the time not win it. The biggest surprise I have seen myself was I think when Porto won it.

The biggest surprise in the last five years was probably Chelsea when they beat Manchester City. If I remember that correctly, Manchester City was in great shape and nobody thought they could end that match with a victory, it was just not very likely.

Then it is usually the typical teams which dominate one of the big European domestic leagues.

Porto was in 2004 by the way and afterwards it was only the top candidates and since then it was one time AC Milan, but that was the time of Kaka and other superstars playing there. It is not like they were an underdog back then.

I agree with 9ja Amaka. Everyone has moved, Gabriel missed a penalty, but so as Ronaldo, John Terry, and so many great players. Yes, losing the champions league hurt and we know that he is equally pained if not worse. From your comment, it’s obvious you’re not an Arsenal supporter so why are so bothered about it. I, however, believe it is the opposite, i don't understand why Arsenal would have wanted to take penalties, in fact there was a problem with the management of the match, this is a priority thing, not wanting to go to penalties is important for a team that is not very used to taking them, which is why i think it was all a strategy from Paris Saint-Germain.

Why would any one fault Mikel Arteta?! He managed that game, with Jurim Timber and even without him, Arsenal played very well. Do you know it means for quality side as PSG to not have a chance created during open play?! Now, that is exactly what happened during that game.
People can only talk because Arsenal lost the finals eventually. But, during 90 minutes?! They did well,  maybe a change of mind to attack during the extra added time. They have done quite well in the Champions League competition in two seasons. I will give them their accolades for that.

You are not correct. Last season, there were 6 EPL teams in the Champions League. Tottenham won the extra spot by winning the Europa League.

Next season, EPL will have 6 teams as well. 5 slots for the league and Aston Villa won an extra slot for winning the Europa League. Since Villa has already qualified for the Champions League by finishing fourth on the league, Bounermoth will take the extra spot.

I actually already said there were 6 PL teams in the Champions League in the 24/25 season. If you read it carefully I said there were 5 teams this season which is one less than the previous one.

Nothing of the sort, no one saw Arsenal as clear favourites to win the Champions League. I remember how everyone praised Arsenal in the first half of the season and even compared them to United in their golden years (it's hard to believe now haha ​​but all these discussions and interviews are online), but the Champions League playoffs are largely random, so no one said that Arsenal was a particular favorite (among other obvious contenders). Arsenal's chances will be clearly lower next season, if only because the likelihood of getting such an easy route to the final two times in a row is extremely low.

I can remember some years ago at around 2008 champions league final between Chelsea and Manchester United when the then Chelsea captain John Terry missed a very crucial penalty that would’ve secured Chelsea the title, back then the Chelsea fans were so curious and frustrated about that penalty miss and even John Terry himself who have carried Chelsea and given his all to the club was really disappointed for the miss which I’m sure Is similar to the Gabriel situation right now. Few years later around 2012, The same John Terry captained Chelsea to their first Champions league title. Arsenal fans should be proud because Gabriel’s work rate for the team is incredible just like that of John Terry, and if Gabriel continues like this it’s just a matter of time Arsenal will lift the champions league trophy.

Arsenal learned a valuable lesson in this final. Cristhian Mosquera was under pressure because it was not easy to check Khvicha Kvaratskhelia. But I thought Mikel Arteta pulled him out after he got a yellow card. In my view, Arseanl did very well defensively and was able to hold down PSG. The only mistake was  Mosquera lunging recovery challenge which misseed the ball resulting to that penalrty. I am not blaming anybody in the Arsenal side because they gave their best.
