Sometimes, making money from a mine is not about keeping up with the Jones.

It is not about updating, tweaking, or tuning constantly.

Instead, it is just about letting the miner grind on the work.  Hashing is as hashing does, and results are what matters the most.

Uptime means stability while performing, and the ability to handle change without crashing.

One of our largest customers shared this with us, some screen shots of his results in the form of uptime as a metric....

That's right, 250 days of constant uptime.  Stability is what makes a Rig that Earns, and its simply part of Pimp OS core.

Cheers and Best Wishes for Happy and Stable Mining!

Agenda:
Happy Halloween!!!

Bitcoin birthday - 10 years today!
NIST making coins better for use as currency
IBM Blockchain announced - big stuff! From the makers of SNA and TCP/IP Ethernet! (link)
Within 6 weeks IBM will try to buy PIMP? Never know!
Ripple is a closed greed solution which does not help people
this month oct 2018 was the slowest trading volume of the year (link)

HiveOS strengths and weaknesses

when they revamped the website it's been nonstop issues
they dont have the stability or the miner support that pimp has
pimp provides much better hands-on access and control over the rig
it looks polished - and mf3 will too
referrals - they really beat the drum to recommend it to their friends
instilling confidence in prospective miners / possible pimp customers

we would like to offer a time limited demo of a farm access
free version of the minerfarm still exists
we never dipped below break even as a miner
coinbase keeps growing
LTC the silver to BTC's gold - till Ether upset that balance
ICO concept hurt the altcoin industry a lot due to the evils and scamming - causing hyperregulation and deep views
Various countries "looking into" regulating crypto - and the ICO vs the coin - gov's are looking at the right things
PiMP 2.9 /3.0 progress
big "Drivetrain" changes: amdgpu 16.40, cuda10+9.2, nvidia 410.73 (so far)

these changes will all benefit and roll up into pimp 3.0
pimp 3.0 application stuff is coming along nicely: apt updates for miners and pimp software - more control over miner updates - rig backup/restore -simple configuration - all commands in "console ui" AND "command line scriptable version"
re: support, will this system allow 1.x and 2.x users to pimpup? - platform changes will require reimage
pimpup3 will give more control over miner versions - allow users to not update
miner developers require certain things
flash drives - pimp will run on it, but we do not support it because we do not want you to have a bad experience, since they are not reliable and there is too much to do - but we are looking at making a usb "installer" that you can use to install pimp onto a rig, instead of reimaging and touching the hardware
OTA updates of kernel/drivers still are not very practical.
helpme2 is still the best troubleshooting tools out there - but helpme3 will be even better - rigs can self-troubleshoot
gethelp from ethos is just an irc tool for them to give support - it does not help the user - netstat helps show unwanted listeners or visitors
VEGA

coming to the pimp lab this week - should ensure support soon - nice for the cryptonights
we were waiting for amd to get the drivers right - as always
and then the miner devs to figure it out
and for dc support - rocm not adequate - and gcc7 neede
NVIDIA 2070/2080 info

20x0 nvidia support coming too - miner devs still working on optimizations - this is not just a new version of a 10x0 card
cuda10 needed for the 2080 (most of them need 8+6pin or 8+8pin) and plimit is restricting the cards - so far tensor cores cannot be used for mining app, but this may lead to significant improvements.
We already have some Doc limited testing results on 2080Ti - needed nvidia 415 - miners mined
miner.farm 3.0 progress

Supports OS/2 Warp! It's browser based. Smiley
pretty buttons and interactive control of the whole farm
we just finished all the brand new subscription interfaces and custom shopping cart system
a day of stats work, and then moving to new graphs
beta in next week or so - then releasing to beta
special guest: dbct!

welcome back to dbct - we are glad to have you in the call
dbct helped launch the helpme, the forum, and the clubhouse and the testing and beta teams
dbct is very well liked and a has been a very important part of the team
the miners still have a say in the development - this is unique especially in the crypto
lily is still a superstar
dbct got called as a career man and with night school on top of being a family man - and got pulled away from us

Hi Miners,

Every Wednesday the PIMP team has a public voice chat on our Discord server. We invite you to come join us for crypto related discussion and product news and questions. It is a pretty informal chat; just miners working hard to keep everyone mining.

The chat is on our Discord server https://discord.gg/grCbFsA at 3PM Pacific/6PM Eastern US time, and we invite anyone to come and chat with us about our products and crypto in general. The call is attended by all our developers and beta testers, so there is lots of expertise on hand for your questions.

This week we will be talking about the upcoming Over The Air update (pimpup) for the latest miners and software, miner.farm v3 beta testing, the bullish turn alctoins are taking this week, pimpup v3 beta testing, and whatever else you want to chat about.

We would love to hear from you!

Great call last night miners, So thankful to have you.  Here are the rough notes from what we talked about. We are working on getting the recording uploaded too!

2018-11-07 Monero leading the charge up, many new algos, whats best for AMD and NVIDIA, new cards to come!

Agenda:
COINS ARE JUMPING!
Nov has been Monero is signalling bull - stocks are faltering a bit and Asia moves into coins- politics affecting trade
A lot more even - and a lot of cards can mine it - Dont need an ASIC
Forks going well - heavy increases the scratchpad to take advantage of video ram - advantage GPUs
Hot News - Many of the "Asic Resistance" folks really fly the ProgPoW flag. Now, we see Zcash going ProgPoW?
Z9 mini still mining it though

OCT AND NOV NEWS
The Brash Report
useful information
we want you to write some content
MF3 UPDATE
wrangling influxdb and grafana for the new graphs
these bleeding edge services are changing fast - and we are waiting for some of our feature requests
our old graphs are raw flot - the new ones will be much better - you can dial into specific rigs, drag for finer detail, etc.
pie charts are awful - pools going to a strip chart
mf3 beta next week!
agent page got a huge makeover - many new functions and details pertaining to the rig
all new key management and account detail information like transaction history
multi-user and multi-farm
cloud edit, cloud store, and push/pull configs to/from rigs
easier navigation
mobile: it all works on mobile and looks good so far - all done in bootstrap - but we will get a native app that works with api someday - we need a good mobile developer first, though. Zamasu likes java - and might like to try - applications should be bridging instead of forking - html5/js are capable enough to do rich environments - single codebase easier than having separate fork of the miner.farm application - push notifications would be the main feature
HARDWARE CORNER
RTX 2070/2080 so far - its still early - need more hands-on time - but plenty of headroom for more - tensor cores? isn 't BYTOM tensority algorithm - is this related? https://bminer.me/references/ - we doubt the raytracing unit will be used for normal hashing - but this ability could lead to new algos and new coins
Dead NVIDIA FE mem? nvidia downplaying - its not another Galaxy Note 7! Nvidia's response on the infant mortality
Nobody developing for AMD? vega - here to stay? looking at the 590, probably. any news on the 6xx series? AMD side is typically cryptonight, lyra, and phi2 - where AMDs have a great performance - Vega does best ProgPow out of the AMDs but still cant touch 1080Ti yet.
navi 600 series ? may be able to compete with the nvidia
AMD is building rigs now - and they have a hold of the console market
lyra2v2 and lyra2z are good at both amd and nvi, but hearing rumors of asics for it.
there's a lot of asics R&D coming out
PIMP OS UPDATES
pimpup 20181108 - TOMORROW! We got a huge changelog coming. Highlights:

avermore, cryptodredge, ethminer, progpow, t-rex, xmr-aeonstak, xmr-stak, z-enemy all updated to latest builds.

the hottest algos and coins added to default profiles - bitcore, aion (210_9 equihash), x22i, x17, phi2, lyra2z, neoscrypt, x16r, and x16s allhavenew coin examples

most of them in cryptodredge/zenemy/t-rex which are for nvidia

pimpup2 - we haven't changed much lately - let us know if anything needs to be fixed
pimp --debug will now chdir to the miner dir, this will be released tomorrow

tons of new miners coming soon, especially for some AMD love:
teamredminer for cnv8/phi2/lyra2z for amd, and working on some others;
avermore already handles x16r/x16s;
sgminer-fancyix for x22i/lyra2
all of the asic profiles have been updated, many new builds, and revamped configs for all the different kinds of usb asics
for cpu mining, cpuminer-opt added to cover many algos that cpuminer-multi does not
2.9 - still working on getting new amd and cuda to work together
3.0 - application coding is going well: pimpup3 beta next week! you will be able to test miner management, system config items, and backup/restore.

ZAMASU WORKING ON HIS OWN PAYMENTS SYSTEM
something to API - he is cloning the captcha systems and creating wallets/addresses to process transactions- refill the account periodically to access the application via API writing it in Java - windows version of cronjobs (scheduled tasks) every few minutes it will restart the java application that confirms transactions. Chrome driver for windows has to be restarted
Java -> Sun -> Oracle -> Larry Ellison (who bought Sun and MySQL - a FOSS competitor to Oracle - scary!) They did let a bunch go into OSS world - their LDAP, and some other things. OpenJDK not quite open
WebLogic / JBoss - still there!
Probably want to stand up a Tomcat on Centos to serve it - but really ...
Back in the day - using the Java interpreter allows the single codebase across many machines (java vm)
Now there are many more modern choices - Golang, etc.

What are common miner pain points or questions, regardless of platform?
want the latest new altcoin miners

Have you gone to any crypto meetups?
Well, its baned in some places. But if you know too much, you end up being the teacher. Teachers dont make much. But it has to be give and take. Some of us even talk about crypto on dates! And how about the people that THINK they know everything?

Hey miners, just a little holiday update:

Portable Instant Mining Platform is US based, so we observe the US holidays at the request of our families Smiley

This weeks OTA update, or PIMPUP, would normally be on Thursday. We try to keep them coming regularly every two weeks , and of course if theres a big update or development we will push out an extra update to keep your miners on the latest. This week Thursday is the holiday though, so we will be getting your update out early, maybe even as soon as Tuesday.

The Clubhouse call is on Wednesday, and we expect light turnout given that its the day before the holiday, BUT Ill be around if anyone wants to stop by and chat.

After that we will be back on the regular schedule for updates.

Thanks for your support!

Hey AMD miners! In case you missed it, we just added some new AMD cryptonight miners to our collection. Finally, good alternatives to Claymore!

In particular, TeamRedMiner has done a great job; definitely one of the fastest AMD miners currently for this algo, and the sgminer API they used is solid and well established in our products, which translates to better monitoring and management for you.

It can be installed on existing PIMP OS rigs with just 2 easy commands: `pimpup` and `pimp --add 1201`

Dont have PIMP OS yet? What are you waiting for? Get the details on our site https://getpimp.org

Hello miners,

It's been 6.5 years since we started this PiMP thing, and a few before that making and supporting other mining software like BAMT and Poolmanager.

Just wanted to take the time this Thanksgiving to outline our appreciation for all of you who support our project:

The miner developers, who have never ending piles of requests for new algorithms, and are always trying to optimize for more hashrate. Talking directly to the hardware is a special job and we appreciate you folks who make the miners we rely on.

The coin and algorithm developers, who design the very currencies we are after, and have to make wallets for many platforms, as well as provide blockchain services, exchange listings, and more.

The miners, who dedicate their time and equipment to supporting the coin networks, always tinkering and tweaking, and holding us to a higher standard.

Our competitors, who keep us on our toes and make us want to be the best we can be.

And of course, my teams. The PiMP OS development team, the beta testing team, and the regulars in our chat. Day in and day out we talk mining and swap test results and fix problems. I consider you my friends.

It is a joy working with each one of you and hope that you get a little family and friend time today, regroup and think about the great things you will do tomorrow. Smiley

Your friend,
~ melt

Hey Miners,

Hoping all our US friends had a great Thanksgiving, and scored some Black Friday deals on GPUs Wink

Miner.farm V3 release is imminent; beta testing has not turned up any show stoppers, and I have been wrapping up the small details and last minute items over the last few days. It has taken a solid year of work, but the results are amazing, and I cannot wait to get it to you!

Thank you for your support,
Lily

This weeks topics are fairly obvious - MINER.FARM V3! Now in beta, still fine tuning all the goodies for release, it looks good for release in the next week. Also, the black friday crypto sale and how it is affecting your mining strategies, and whatever else is on your minds.

We would love to see you there!

Hey miners! Thanks for joining us in the clubhouse call last night. Coins are coming back! As they always do. And Mining will always be around, because we support these coins networks by validating transactions. Happy to do it! And the free heat is just a bonus in this winter weather.

Here are the notes from the meeting:

Hey miners, we have another big pimpup with more miner updates. As you can see, we have the most miners built-in with examples. If there is a miner that you would like to see included, or a pool or coin or algorithm, please notify us so we can get your favorites included in the OS!  Our intent is to provide support for as many coins, miners, and algos as possible, and as quickly as possible. You will start to see more momentum with our miner updates soon. With PiMP 3.0 it will be completely automated.

That being said we are just days away from launching the new miner.farm v3! It's been a long year working on this one and we have been dying to show it to you.

Thank you for your support! We continue to work around the clock to make the best mining platforms available. By miners, for miners since 2012!

Miner.farm V3 beta is still happening but it is very close to release, just a couple small details to finish up. Thanks everyone for your patience while we get this just right. Lots of new miner updates, our new automation system has been churning them out to the betas as soon as they get released so we can get them tested and to you as quickly as possible. Plenty more to talk about with crypto prices back in a state of flux too.

We would love to see you there!
