When it comes to marketing and personal branding, Neymar is very clever. He knows this very well, but on the pitch, he's no longer fit. However, as one of the greatest talents Brazilian football has ever produced, he deserves to be questioned, but also to be respected for the history he's built and everything he's given on the pitch. You don't have to agree, but it's something to ponder...So, I don't want to blame him for Brazil's failure in this World Cup.

For me Neymar is on the podiun of the best players in history. i put Neymar among the strongest players because he has always shown a quality and personality that is different from other players. He was formidable and represented Brazilian football to perfection, from when he was very young until today. And I'm very sorry that unfortunately those injuries in a certain sense ruined the end of his career.

Argentina certainly showed strength by reaching three finals, but I don't think that will happen in 2030. Messi isn't just a player; he's the one who creates confidence in the team, the one who raises the team's morale to the highest level, but he won't be playing there, and I'm even eager to see what the team is capable of. As for Spain, I agree with you and think they'll also play excellent football at the upcoming World Cup. They have a young leader who has great victories ahead of him. Yamal surprised me with his play, and now he'll take on the role of team leader, doing what Messi did for his national team. Although the World Cup is still four years away, so a lot could change in that time.

You agree with me. Messi wasn't just a player who gave strength to his teammates, he was literally the symbol of Argentina. After the Maradona era, Messi was his deputy. For many, even superior to Maradona. Therefore, a player of this caliber, who inevitably also influences the other players, since he will no longer be there, it will be a hard blow for his teammates to maintain that same mental status.

Yes, it's true that if they were talented players like Neymar in Brazil country, things would ha e actually better for them ateast. But when you look at at it some times it's not only about having players like him matters alots, we should also consider thier Defenders and Midfielders, despite that the Neymar's performance was very poor in jaut concluded FIFA world cup tournament, if there were good defenders and Midfielders the attackers weaknesses aren't going show,  Although they really tried thier best in the tournament, they manged to do whatever they can and finish the tournament peacefully even with the Injuries, but I believe new gresh blood would be working harder before the next FIFA world cup tournament, we will start hearing another great names which might not be Neymar again. Someone that can play more better than him.
Brazil has a good squad,
And their performance this world cup was also good, but compering them with other teams they still have a long way to go and this is not just about Neymar or someone like Neymar, this is about the team.
If you take a look at all the teams that made it to the semifinals you will notice that their individual players are of high quality, not one Neymar but several Neymar's and even better, football isn't about one person it's about the team in a whole.
Look at France, Spain, Argentina, England, almost all the selected players are of high quality, but as for Brazil they have just few excellent players, the others are overrated or accepted not to be too good.

Argentina have talented players who are capable of leading the team to the final stage of the World Cup, players like Alexis Mac Allister, Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez, and Lautaro Martinez will all play at the 2030 world cup and we know the role they played in the 2026 World Cup so there is still possibility of Argentina reaching another final without Lionel Messi. Argentina will only miss his presence and motivation in the team but their performance is not going to decline.

We have to consider some factors though!
1- Throughout the World Cup, Argentina only faced teams that were much weaker than them; if we consider the entire campaign, they only faced England and Spain as strong teams.
2-Argentina is a strong national team full of champions and they were the reigning champions, so the fact that they repeatedly overturned the result in the final moments is dictated by these factors which are very consistent.

In my opinion, FIFA proved to be impartial throughout the tournament, but I would have something to say about the refereeing decisions. Many referees were really bad at managing such an important event.

Argentina was lucky to find teams that were not strong, but there was also luck. Argentina has strong players and many champions, the Albriti were not up to par, they made a lot of mistakes and some did not deserve to be in the World Cup. Unfortunately this happens too, they too are human beings and can make mistakes.

That’s right! You’re absolutely right – they’re human too, so they’re bound to make mistakes; it can happen!
They were very lucky to come up against weak teams, but even those weak teams put them under pressure, and it was only thanks to the skills of their star players that they managed to reach the final. Unfortunately for them, they came up against the best Spanish side of the last 10 years and lost.

For a long time now, I’ve been thinking about how the World Cup could be organised to prevent corruption and various forms of bribery. The World Cup should be held once on each continent, on a rotating basis, with no possibility of changing the rotation order except at the start of the cycle. Each continent would make available as many stadiums as possible where matches would be played in existing stadiums that meet the standards for international competitions. This would resolve the problem of corruption at the heart of FIFA and the issue of organisational costs.

At Infantino wallet don't like this element.

C'mon man, what are you saying, I like to believe that Messi is everything when we talk about that Argentina squad, if you take away the brilliance of Messi from that Argentina squad they would be absolutely trash, trust me. The difference will be noticeable when they get to play with the presence of Messi missing in that squad, although I can't totally write them off based on the talent that is packed in the team but with their style of play they will definitely get nowhere if an individual brilliance or magical style is not included or probably they will have to change the style of play before they can get positive results.

Depends on how long you have been watching the World Cup, but to some of us. 2026 was just not that enjoyable, and the rigging was even slap right in our faces. Maybe 2022 was OK save for the politics that was trying to creep into the game thanks to some European nations like Germany. I mean, the Finale gave us everything we dreamt of

I don't care who reaches the semi-finals or finals, but all I wish for is the beautiful game to be played with no stupid propaganda or political interference and, most importantly, promote unity across the globe.

I wouldn't really agree with you.
Yes, there were good and exciting matches but also a lot of boring and uninteresting matches between weak teams.
FIFA's policy of gradually increasing the number of teams participating in the World Cup has not turned out to be good in terms of sports. We have more and more bad and poorly attended matches that no one is interested in. With a further, likely increase in the number of teams participating in the World Cup to 64 teams, we will have an even worse World Cup, but of course a larger number of matches will bring more profit to FIFA, and that is obviously the only thing that matters.
I am old enough to have watched a lot of World Cups live, starting in 1982, and I can tell you that back then, in the 80s and 90s, the World Cups were much better, with a lot more good and uncertain matches, and the focus was much less on marketing, profit and money.
Today, football has become just another product that is sold on the market, and it is becoming like an NBA competition, with all those breaks for entertainment and advertising, the so-called hydration breaks (which are actually for expensive TV commercials) and remember that long break in the final between Spain and Argentina of 30 minutes to sell the entertainment part of the program.
Shameful.

That was the difference. Back in 2022, no one complained about the bias from referees. Argentina won fair and square. But that was not the case this time. Argentina got a lot of support from the officials, and even after that they failed to lift the trophy. BTW, I don't think that they will be able to enter the semis in 2030. Without Messi, their performance may get even worse.

I absolutely agree. In fact, Argentina deserved to win the penultimate World Cup and there were no protests of any kind.

He played well, he had his advantageous episodes, but not due to refereeing errors, simply the football that sometimes rewards you. And there was also a sensational final between Argentina and France, while this year's World Cup was completely different. Maybe one of the ugliest World Cups I've ever seen.

No other World Cup has had so much criticism of FIFA officials as it has in this one. Argentina is one of the most popular teams in the world and has a lot of sponsors on their side. If this team is eliminated midway through the tournament, the businessmen will suffer losses.

The referees in charge made many unfair decisions in favor of the Argentina team, it is as clear as day. The purpose of this bias was commercial, yet the team could not win the final match. If Messi cannot play next WC, they will have to wait for another 12 years to reach the semi-finals or finals of the World Cup.

It is normal for doubt to arise, if you consider that even the news regarding the FBI which has found funds in favor of FIFA from Argentina in recent years, raise the doubt, in addition to the episodes on the field always favorable for Argentina. And it's something that the whole world has seen, all the teams have noticed this. So it's not a one on one, but it's everyone against the rules.

Right from the beginning, one could tell that the tournament would be shit. I was not happy with some things but seeing and reading Donald Trump put a call through to the FIFA president to overturn a booking decision prior to their final games of the tournament gave me the final ick about the tournament.
The 2022 was purely rigged right in front of our eyes. We all saw with the game against Netherlands and even both the then manager, Louis van Gaal and the players can most definitely attest to the fact that it was rigged.

The current FIFA should resign. We can not go ahead to see this bs go on during the next tournament.

Sentiments apart, Argentina played well during the World cup but would never have gone that far without the referee's favourable calls. The Egypt game was a typical example and we all saw that, it was a good display of unprofessionalism from the referee which changed the outcome of the game.

Argentina would have being out of the competition if they played against stronger opponents like France, Spain or even Portugal. They had it easier than other top countries from the group stage until the final stage, but I would still commend their resilience at every level of the competition.

Argentina made the World Cup they deserved to make, favored or not by the referees, their group was quite easy, otherwise they would have exited much earlier. I'm very sorry because the only team that actually gave Spain a hard time was Portugal. A Portugal that in my opinion did not deserve to go out, which was also unlucky as it conceded the defeating goal in injury time. But i believe that if Portugal had passed they could have even reached the final. It's true that it's useless to talk about ifs and buts, but i also believe that Portugal deserves recognition for this.

Why dont you discuss Argentina and its performance on FIFA World Cup 2026 in FIFA World Cup 2026 :Canada/Mexico/United States: Discussion Thread ? I came to check if someone posted anything about how far he distance between the outer stadiums in Morocco and Spain, but see people again talk about Messi and Argentina in 2026. Distance between stadium in Adgar (Morocco) and Anoeta (Spain) is almost 2k km. That is a huge distance for a fan to cover if he wants to watch specific games or teams only (or only got tickets for those matches). Thereby I only want to tell that I am not fond of situation when tournament happens in several countries and distance between stadiums is so huge. It is best to have tournament in only one country, that would be much more convenient for fans.

I always cringe anytime they call Argentina team high quality, Argentina's run borns from the creativity of Messi and with the way its going, if Messi retires and this Argentine players don't get there acts together, they won't even make it to the quarter finals. With this, I think it's right to say 2 brilliant player especially and attacking role player to make a big difference as long as the other players play there average part.

Then we see the Norwegian team, looking at the squad, Brazil was better hands down bur it all comes to how they approach the game.

That said, deciding not to participate in the upcoming World Cup would be the wisest choice. Ronaldo has made such a huge contribution to his country that he should just retire while he's still at the peak of his career.

I am a Cristiano Ronaldo lover like many other football fans in general, in the sense that for me he is the best player in history and that this sport has ever encountered. And even more so must i be the one to recognize that, obviously, as Cristiano's performance has decreased as he ages, but it couldn't be otherwise. And he knows it too and for this reason he enjoys every minute on the pitch as if it were his last. And he always says that the right time to live is now.

However, defensively speaking, Brazil is not a bad team. He has some great players on defense. Perhaps what Brazil does most wrong is not having a connection between defense, midfield and attack. A connecting link that makes their game more fluid. Obviously it would be useful to have more players like Neymar, but champions of that caliber are born one in a million.

Totally agree with you, he should resign. National teams such as Wales have clearly requested Infantino's resignation due to the lack of professionalism he has demonstrated and for having obviously been biased during this World Cup. Because we saw favoritism and the reactions in the stands even during the matches. An attitude like this is not expected from a president.
It's curious that many here on the forum are defending Infantino's position. I don't know how they do it or why, but it's good to see because there's diversity of opinion. Besides, I think that when you're in an organization as important as FIFA, you can't be biased towards governments or referees. Even if some deals aren't visible on paper, just seeing how they act in important matches is enough. People aren't blind anymore; they have a voice and a vote. Social media has acquired an impressive power; it wasn't like that before.

If all this were to turn out to be true, it would certainly be a scandal, and the event would lose its appeal, whilst the global interest in this competition would wane.
But to be honest, this doesn’t sound like anything new to me: where there’s a lot of money changing hands, there’s corruption, so FIFA is no exception to this rule.
