I am a Cristiano Ronaldo lover like many other football fans in general, in the sense that for me he is the best player in history and that this sport has ever encountered. And even more so must i be the one to recognize that, obviously, as Cristiano's performance has decreased as he ages, but it couldn't be otherwise. And he knows it too and for this reason he enjoys every minute on the pitch as if it were his last. And he always says that the right time to live is now.

I realize that, in the end, all we can do is enjoy what’s left of Ronaldo soccer career. Because sooner or later he’s bound to retire, and when that time comes, i feel soccer will lose something, something that will certainly be hard to replace. We’re not just losing a great athlete, it’s like losing someone who embodies the very essence of soccer itself, and Messi will lose his greatest rival.

imo if the final had been good too, it would've been the best tournament in history. but since the final was mediocre, i knocked off a point it turned out to be a 9/10 tournament.

still, there's no denying it's among the top 5 tournaments of all time.

To be honest they were so many controversial refereeing decisions that would make the World Cup not been the best even though it had a great final because some but I can agree with you that it actually did made it to the list of the greatest World Cups, first because of the increase of the participants, it was the first time and that’s historical and then to certain point like the revenue generated, the number of host nations and even the half role shows.

I enjoyed the World Cup because of the upsets by the underdogs and this world have made it more enjoyable if the referees weren’t controversial and trying to be too perfect at the end.

yeah maybe... average number of yellow cards per match in thi world cup was around 2.50, which is the lowest average in the last 40 years. besides, we’ve all noticed that the referees in this tournament were doing everything they can to avoid giving out cards. similarly, the number of penalties awarded per match was also at its lowest level in the last 40 years...

Morocco has a very stable team and a very good team but, the despicable football they displayed in the AFCON didn’t portray them as a team that is ready to go toe to toe with other teams but, a team that is ready to do whatever they can to have an edge. I wouldn’t expect them to display the same tactics they did in the AFCON on the World Cup stage. They had an entirely different performance in the World Cup, they made Africa believe that, they could do the continent some pride and they did, beating the one of the host team Canada in a very spectacular performance. Being one of the host nation, they certainly would be moved to do even better.

What do you expect from a team that has received all the necessary support from the government? They have the best sports infrastructure in Africa and have established several football academies. Meanwhile, some African countries have not paid wages and other entitlements for more than one year. Some of these players and coaches had to revolt during the World Cup. I expect Morocco to build a strong team before the next World Cup. They can be the first African country to win the competition.

Brazil, in my opinion, is a great football team! The problem with Brazil, in my opinion, is that they rely on chaos rather than order. They have many excellent players, but each one is a bright individual, which undermines teamwork.🙋

A football team should function as a unified system. In other words, Brazil lacks a systematic European approach. Therefore, the appointment of Italian system coach Carlo Ancelotti was, in my opinion, a very correct decision. Yes, he failed to create a fundamentally new football team for the 2026 World Cup. That's why Brazil didn't win. However, I believe that Brazil's football success is yet to come!

I think Brazil's play will become more systematic in the near future. It's quite possible that by the 2030 World Cup, we'll see a completely new Brazilian football team. It's even possible that this team will be stronger than Argentina.💁

It is actually sad to see Brazil being in need of adapting to European football to do better. Sad They didn't need this in the past. Because they had amazing star players before and during 2000s who are surely football legends currently.

But they don't have such players with high level individual skills much now. There is Vinicius Jr and that's it. Neymar has got old and has been far away from football for a long time. So I don't add him to this list.

In my opinion, Brazil's victories in 1970 and 2002 were not solely due to the individual skill of their players. Back then, the team's coaches employed incredible tactical systems that were revolutionary for their time. They were incredibly effective and led to victories for the Brazilian football team. However, today they are hopelessly outdated.🙋

Football has changed dramatically over time. Old tactical systems no longer work as well as they once did. Today, advanced football practices are concentrated primarily in European clubs. This, incidentally, is confirmed by Spain's victory at the recent World Cup.

Incidentally, Brazilian players are currently actively playing for European clubs and adopting European football practices. I can name many excellent modern Brazilian footballers. However, it has not yet been possible to ensure that all these outstanding players play within a unified system. Perhaps a thorough analysis of the Spanish national team's performance at the World Cup will help resolve this issue.💁

This time, there are actually fewer yellow cards than in recent decades. The average yellow card per match was probably around 2.5. And I also think that referees probably wanted to continue the game instead of showing yellow cards too quickly in some situations.

But you probably didn't know that the average number of penalties in 2014 was even lower than this year. In the 2014 World Cup, there were probably 13 penalties in 64 matches, which would be an average of 0.203 per match. But this year's World Cup has 104 matches and 22 penalties have been given. If you calculate the average penalty per match this time, it would be closer to 0.212. That means penalties were even lower in 2014 than this year.

Isn't this all about coincidence? Comparing a data set so low on information, how would you derive significance? Maybe there were more or less yellow cards, less or more penalties, but never coul dyou derive a final conclusion. What does an average number of penalties even mean when you have such a low number of matches? It is still low to be statistically relevant.

Brazil used to be one of the most influential team those days because each time we hear that Brazil is playing any team in the world cup we are always excited because they're one of the countries that plays real football because of their skillful players. It was even in 2014 that I began to notice that Brazil is no longer the team i used to cherish back then after Germany humiliated them to a 7:1 defeat, it was really crazy.

-snip-

The defeat to Germany was truly humiliating. But that's Brazil today, it's no longer the Brazil we used to know. I don't know how to describe the current situation of the Brazilian national team, it's as if they've lost their playing style and are no longer as sharp and creative as they once were. Even though they still have quality players in this generation, they still haven't been able to restore their past glory.

I don't know what Ancelotti will do to prepare the Brazilian national team in the lead-up to the 2030 World Cup, but many people hope he can improve the team's performance for the upcoming World Cup, and hopefully, they can achieve that.

I do agree that Lionel Messi has been the major player that carried Argentina to three World Cup finals during his time while playing for his country but we should not make it look as if Argentina cannot reach the final in 2030, they can without Messi. Argentina have talented players who are capable of leading the team to the final stage of the World Cup, players like Alexis Mac Allister, Julian Alvarez, Enzo Fernandez, and Lautaro Martinez will all play at the 2030 world cup and we know the role they played in the 2026 World Cup so there is still possibility of Argentina reaching another final without Lionel Messi. Argentina will only miss his presence and motivation in the team but their performance is not going to decline.

But Argentina remains a very strong team on paper, but i also think that without a leader like Messi, who may be a man of few words but gives many facts, Argentina will struggle, and not a little, because having a Messi on the pitch means having the strongest player in your country, who you admire as an idol and who gives you the determination and desire to demonstrate that you are up to the task.

LoL Messi never considered him as his rival..... Grin

However, it's is obvious that football is gradually losing his tempo like after Messi and Ronaldo football will be change forever because they two were the man to keep the soccer on top but after their exit football will never be give a vibe like previous. Messi and Ronaldo was the two greatest players of modern football and both have a prestigious place.

Besides that right now both are too old and definitely people will still put them in pressure for demanding the same thing as previous. I think Cristiano Ronaldo should need to took the retirement form international flights because right now he is too old and always follow thses quote " leave the football before it leave you.

I am going to actually go for the challenge that Argentina will definitely find it hard without Messi, we saw how they played in the world cup and the dependence on Lionel Messi is simply growing instead of reducing because if we look at the goal contributions alone at the World Cup for Argentina only Messi has 80% of them and that’s utterly dependent on him. So I will sincerely have to agree with you that the if Messi should Retire from the national team now which is actually more likely with the death of his Father making it look difficult for him to continue I will say Argentina will first of all struggle before they get themselves.

I did an analysis myself and I think that Argentina doesn't have many talented players except Messi. If you want to list talented players, Julián Alvarez's name will come first. Apart from that, Lautaro Martínez and Giuliano Simeone will come, but these two players don't know much politeness on the football field. They behave rudely more than their own talent, so I don't think they will go very far.

Argentina needs to be led by Alvarez or if another talented player is born. The future of Argentina without Messi is not very bright, maybe we will have to wait for another talented player for several more years. The number of legendary players like Messi is very few in the world, if he retires, the football world will miss him very much.

There is no replacement for Messi in Argentina at the moment. There is doubt whether  will ever be created in the future. Messi may retire very soon. It is incredible that he is playing so well even at this age. Argentina will have to be developed in such a way that they can give the best performance apart from Messi. For this reason, we may see a big change in Argentina's game strategy in the future. And if a newcomer comes to the team in the future and is able to perform well enough, then maybe something good can be created for the team. Just like I saw Neymar perform very well in the beginning, Mbappe performed very well in his first world cup. Similarly, Lamine Yamal is also playing well as a young player. So I hope that someone will come to Argentina who will contribute a lot to the team from the beginning.

This your statement really baffles me because am really curious to know what your definition of how a talented player should look like. With my own take on this, you are only seeing the attacking players as the talented players, is that not crazy?

The Argentine team is full of talented players in every area of the field, so looking at only the attacking players as the talented player are just too ridiculous in my own opinion. If the team was not good, or they don't have enough talent, do you think that only Lionel Messi can take them to the finals?
No, because a porous defense will frustrate every work Lionel Messi does upfront, so you should be looking at this Argentina team differently, not in the manner you are looking at them.

Depends on how long you have been watching the World Cup, but to some of us. 2026 was just not that enjoyable, and the rigging was even slap right in our faces. Maybe 2022 was OK save for the politics that was trying to creep into the game thanks to some European nations like Germany. I mean, the Finale gave us everything we dreamt of

I don't care who reaches the semi-finals or finals, but all I wish for is the beautiful game to be played with no stupid propaganda or political interference and, most importantly, promote unity across the globe.

Absolutely, football is a people's sport, football deserves to be simple, it deserves to be beautiful and it deserves to be able to be seen by everyone. Therefore political, economic, or interference from federations or sponsors have nothing to do with naked football. That must be seen only in the 90 minutes of the pitch and with a round ball played by 22 players on the pitch. The rest has nothing to do with it.

I realize that, in the end, all we can do is enjoy what’s left of Ronaldo soccer career. Because sooner or later he’s bound to retire, and when that time comes, i feel soccer will lose something, something that will certainly be hard to replace.
''A good dancer knows when to leave the stage''. Cristiano Ronaldo had a successful football career, he should not make his last days feel boring. If we are to tell ourselves the truth, Ronaldo is living in his old glory as there is nothing new again. No much skills, it's just his goal scoring identity that is left with him. Ronaldo should save himself some embarrassment of playing for too long in a match, he can come in as a substitute and make some impact then the match ends. In that way, his flops would not be noticed. If Ronaldo still want to save the name he has built for many years, he should retire after this season even if he doesn't succeed to get a thousand career goals.

Quote
We’re not just losing a great athlete, it’s like losing someone who embodies the very essence of soccer itself, and Messi will lose his greatest rival.
Surely, when Ronaldo retires, the world of football will feel his absence. Messi is also close to retirement so both players is going to miss themselves because they are the greatest athletes that have been in the news for close to 20 years.

we really enjoyed two consecutive great World Cups in 2022 and 2026. this time, i predict the semi finalists will be between Belgium, England, Brazil and Spain.

Who knows, anything can be in football.
They are teams that certainly deserve to get to that point, despite some declines and despite players not called up. They can end in various ways.
Only football will be able to tell us what the outcome of these matches will be. We will have to wait and have the patience to see how things will end.

Why do you still discuss Cristiano Ronaldo and Messi in FIFA World Cup 2030 topic, if they wont be participating in that tournament? Or even if they do, they will be too old and far from their peak form and performance. There are enough new stars and top players who already can replace them (I took Messi and Ronaldo performance on FIFA World Cup 2026 performance as example). Ronaldo only had 3 goals. Messi got 8 but with help of FIFA.

C'mon man, what are you saying, I like to believe that Messi is everything when we talk about that Argentina squad, if you take away the brilliance of Messi from that Argentina squad they would be absolutely trash, trust me. The difference will be noticeable when they get to play with the presence of Messi missing in that squad, although I can't totally write them off based on the talent that is packed in the team but with their style of play they will definitely get nowhere if an individual brilliance or magical style is not included or probably they will have to change the style of play before they can get positive results.

But how can you say that the Argentina team without Messi would be rubbish? However, it has some really important players, like Julian Alvarez, like McAllister, Molina, Dibu Martinez, Lautaro Martinez. Argentina is full of talent, it has always produced talent, and to say that without Messi it would be rubbish is truly a bold statement.

What do you mean "two"? which of the previous World Cups were not great?

Maybe 2014 was a little underwhelming because Germany dominated too obviously + humiliated the host team beating them 7:1, that was sad. But 2018 was great and all I remember before the 2014 were great too.

That's very true, it's now looking as if they built the team around him and he has actually delivered but there problem will be the inability to find an accurate replacement for him if he finally retire from playing for the national team, they will definitely bounce back but it will take them a while for them to truly come back to consistency, You will notice that most times that Messi does not  play well most of the players don't play well too or the whole team will be confused and play below their potential and that's one of the benefits of being dynamic in building a solid team because football isn't about a single players contribution again, it's about how each player are able to play to the best of their ability with good strategy and tactics.
