I have seen people who have studied up to class 10, and after that they quit their studies and start business, they start business from a young age. Basically their goal is to become a businessman, so they do not waste any more time and start doing business.
But this can also be due to their financial crisis, that is, maybe their family does not have the financial means to send them to study, so maybe they also quit their studies and start doing business, but they can also be successful at some point, this is real.
But I think people should continue their studies, at least as far as they can afford, but if someone wants to stay away from studies despite their financial means, then they are definitely making a mistake. But after all, every person has a specific goal, and everyone keeps trying until they reach that goal, and this path is different for everyone.
It’s true that education is indeed valuable, but we need to understand that success doesn’t just follow one path. There are people who left school due to one challenge or the other, like financial problems, while some people deliberately chose the business path early and somehow managed to become successful through consistency and experience. Everyone has their own path to success, it must not be education, irrespective of the fact that education is good and provides knowledge and more opportunities.
You’re right, there are so many people that are educated and still have nothing to show for it, but you can find people who doesn’t have any formal education but have one skill or the other things they do with business and are still successful, I agree that success doesn’t necessarily come from one side, but I’m a huge fan of education, I’m educated so I usually do urge people to get formal education at least to have a better understanding of things and about life, education doesn’t only offer learning and degree, you graduate in character and in Learning.

Personally, I prefer having a formal education and still acquiring some skills, that would give the job seeker or a young graduate more opportunities for job opportunities or you start something else with the skill that you’ve acquired.

We don't have to take the university route to be successful, but we should choose a path based on our abilities, circumstances, and what work for us. We shouldnt choose a path just because others are taking it. Just because few people became billionaires after dropping out of university doesn't mean we will succeed by doing the same.

We all have different parts to becoming successful but we just have not figured it out the ways yet and that is why we have not made it yet. Those who have, discover their part sooner than the rest of us who are still poor and some people might not even find their own part untill they die from this world. If we keep on wasting our time without discovering what our own path is then we would not make it in life. My path night be going through education while yours might be business, entertainment or other things that can make you money. There are different things hence we should not limit our  research to only education and business because that will mean most people would not find their own way to be successful.

That success shouldn’t be limited to either a degree or business. A university qualification can open doors, and business can provide opportunities for those who are better suited for entrepreneurship. It's important to follow your own strengths, situation and goals rather than emulating someone else. The path of dropping out may have worked for certain well-known entrepreneurs, but it may not be a strategy that can be used by everyone. Others figure it out early in their lives, others over a long period of time. The problem in my view is not whether you make a business decision or an educational decision, it's not that you make a choice but not taking the time to understand why.

Your points has sense in them, even if education is valuable because of the unique knowledge gotten from it, there reason people will want to choose business first before education, the business class are  the ones that command power in the world as it is, and if we can make our findings right, most successful business men are either drop or those who couldn't afford the financial enablement to get their degree which most of them later competed their education when they had made name in their business establishment, yes I agree that the individual path to riches differs, let's be honest, how many professors in the world fall into the world richest men, I'm not saying education is not good but I have my points too.

It is not a waste of time to get an education, a degree helps a person to show the right way to success in business. A degree cannot help a person financially, but it teaches the strategy to survive in business for a long time. It is true that there are many businessmen in the world who have not obtained any degree, but they have become successful businessmen. A person can start a business without a degree, a degree is not required to start a business. However, there are many successful businessmen who are obtaining a degree to improve their business, so obtaining a degree is definitely necessary for a person. The wealth of all religions of the world can be shared but education is a wealth that cannot be shared with anyone, so education is definitely necessary.

Why do so many people prefer starting a business over getting a degree?
Because a successful business can bring much higher income, while a job after a degree usually has a fixed salary. A degree takes about 4 years and costs a lot. A business can start with small capital and might grow 4 times in those same 4 years. Plus, many graduates still struggle to find good jobs.

•Do you think a degree is important to run a business, or can skills and experience replace it?
•What would you choose: start a small business without a degree, or get a degree first and then start a business?

The high rate of unemployment in a country isn't very encouraging for anyone to choose getting a decree over starting a business and spending four years of your life studying only to end up with nothing is the worst thing that can happen to any young person that is just starting life, but if I'm given the opportunity to choose between getting a decree or starting a business I'd choose the decree because their are a lot of business that needs educated people to handle, a degree may not be necessarily needed to run a business but if you have the chance I'd advise you go for the decree first because it might be needed in your business at some point.

The standard believe is that people go into business because they want to be their own boss. A degree usually leads to a job where someone else is in charge of your time and money but business gives you a shot at building something for yourself. That does not mean a degree is useless. It can teach you things and open doors. But it is not the only path. Some people with just skills and experience do better than those with certificates and that’s a fact.

Everyone is doing business to be profitable and become successful in life. Most people do a degree just to be more educated and create opportunities for a business. But now, not all people succeed through a degree. Many businessmen have become successful without even attending school to get a degree.

Some people even say school is a waste of time. But if you’re educated, you’ll know that both a degree and business are all good. Still, people prefer to become business owners instead of just getting a degree. Some chase business first, and later go back to school to get the knowledge. Then they use that experience to build their business higher.

many people do join both degrees and business just to make themselves balanced. As the name implies university you'll meet different people with different life styles from different regions with different ideas. Which will serve as an opportunity for anyone with business mindset or business tycoon to tap into them to either turn them to your biggest customers, or learn from those that have ideas on how to make business looks more attractive to customers.

Nowadays we still have courses that teaches students how to become self employed called entrepreneurship. Which in the process of obtaining degree you can make connections with friends that are financially stable and might support you with money to start up a dream business or even grant it to you for free.

School is greater than everything you can think of, but let me say this here, if you go to school and think the book you read will give you everything you want in life, that's when you have gotten it all wrong, the world has evolved, during the time of our parents, you don't need to go to school to be able to understand or run a business, but things have changed now, we have the mobile means of selling, which is the online business, we also use our computer and laptop to edit invoices, calculate the daily sales and to also purchase items without even going there physically, so even those that didn't go to school are now hiring those that have gone to school to help them manage their business finances. And if you are not intelligent, if you haven't gone to school to learn how to do little plus and minus, your staff will end up stealing a lot from you. So business is good, but currently now, you also need to get a degree as a business man.

It all depends on where the opportunities are coming from, for some people they get their opportunities and most people get more opportunities from running a business than what they get from having a degree but this is not the case for everyone because some people get more opportunities from having a degree. The best thing to do is to have a degree and also be ready to diversify, it is Important not to put all your eggs in one basket. Having a degree also helps you build a good reputation as someone that is into business.

No matter where the opportunity is coming from there is nothing better than having one's business that generates daily income. Of a truth salary jobs provides all needed for survival but without having once personal business it is very difficult to gain stability financially,  looking at the life of all, you can clearly understand that all salary earners never neglect to establish a business that will help sustain them during rainy days because most times there pension is never enough to serve them .

Having business is good, but its not the only way to become financially stable or wealthy. Many people have stable financial life without owning any business at all.

Not every salaried job pays peanuts either. Some job pay 4, 5 or even 6 figures a month. And for those who earn less, if they know how to manage their money and invest on the side, they can still build financial stability from their salary.

Financial stability isnt just about making lot of money. You also need to know how to manage your money, save, and have proper plan.

Yes, there are people who are salaried but they have habit of saving money and they have good respect because they are useful to family members. Family members can get money from them at any time which is big edge for them because any emergency situation can happen and you should save extra money for bad days as good days will come after bad days and vice versa. There are people who are doing business, but they have no saving because their habit is not to save and they spend all their money on useless things and when any emergency happens they are collecting money from job person who have good savings. Does not matter whether you have a business or job but matters what kind of mind you have.

You should give importance to business by looking at your job as a support, don't quit your job, rather it will remain, but if you can manage a business with equal importance along with it, then you will start achieving financial stability from that business. I think this would be the best, you should continue to manage your family through your job, and keep building a business separately from everything else. Having only one source of income is the biggest risk, because if for some reason it is lost, you can become completely paralyzed, and this is why you need to create more sources of income and for this, business and investment are definitely necessary.

Education isn't the key to success but it is going to groom you in a lot of areas that would help you along the line in life. For me I would say that both are important because they play different roles, people tend to give you a a certain level of respect when you have a degree, it raises your standard and even though you focus only on business and you have a degree you become more interesting to others.

Having a degree and running a business are both important, It is easy to say that having a business is a way better but a lot of people forget the value of being educated and taking out valuable years of your life to study a course for a long period of time, even though the opportunity doesn't come exactly when we want it, going to school will actually produce positive results In the long run.

Running a successful business dont only rely on either getting a  degree or acquiring skill and have experience.  Most people Venture into businesses  that are way different from what they studied in school and are still successful, that doesn't mean going to school or university is a waste. But there is one fundermental factor to these, which is LEARNING. Going to school is acquire knowledge because knowledge is something you must develop, you go to school to learn how to read , but after school you read to learn. Both the non educated and the educated must have the ability to learn in other to grow.

If I'd known 20 years ago that my country would end up like this, I wouldn't have taken school so seriously. Deep down I probably saw it coming but maybe I just didn't want to accept it.

Education gives you a lot but when it comes to making money, the time you invest in education doesn't always transform into higher income. There are also many geographic and political factors involved. Simply being well educated or highly skilled isn't enough to make good money. At the same time, starting a business is no guarantee of success either. We live in a time when earning an honest living and succeeding through your own efforts has become much harder.
And yes, I took school and all the knowledge it imparted just as seriously. So what now? With this education, I'll never be hired for even a minor management position. So, even after college, I had to work as a simple loader for many years. What was the purpose of all that? Can anyone explain it to me? I wish I'd started thinking about starting my own business back then. I was counting on my education, but it never came in handy.

As I understand it, you're in a very similar situation? It's the same all over the world. Do you know what can help us? Only self-education. Without it, you can't survive. Experience alone isn't enough.

I don't think the country you live in should be the main factor in deciding whether to get a degree or start a business. Starting a business should depend on your idea, knowledge, skills and starting capital.

Furthermore, starting a business before getting a degree isn't always a good idea. Like I said, if you don't have the knowledge or any real skills and you're only starting a business because you see other people doing it, then it's basically just gambling.

Business is a very risky investment, and it is not as easy as we often imagine. So if you want to start a business, you need more than just the desire to make money.

You already said the most but aside that, there it would be easier for someone who started a business to run a degree along the line but it would be difficult for a business to start a business after running a degree but I think the options of response is also dependent on the options available because if there are options to pick which one to do first, which ever one we choose might still be valid but I would want to start a business first before getting a degree and that's because I'm a Nigerian but maybe if I was from a different country with good economy and government, then I would have to go for a degree before a business.

Life is already a risk and just as I have said previously, our environment can also enhance and affect these choices and I believe you're seeing life from a totally different perspective but i  think those from my country might just be seeing life from another perspective as well.

Schooling in my country seems very difficult and that is why, despite the risk associated with business, people would always want to start a business if even the option and hope to train themselves through school with the business returns.

You are right, nowadays some people do find  business interests over degree due to their own personal goals, some see degree as a waste of time and resources. They feel that the time that they would waste on school, they could use it for business for them to grow up slowly. As for me I prefer both because in my opinion certificate is not just a paper, it gives knowledge and sometimes give us ideas on what to do even if we are to invest in business. School today teaches entrepreneurship for us to become self employed and independent without wasting time expecting government jobs.

•Do you think a degree is important to run a business, or can skills and experience replace it?

Having a bachelor's degree in business acquired during education can be helpful and easier. Skills and experience can replace or even surpass it, but those who have experienced it can sense the difference between someone running a business with a bachelor's degree and someone running a business without one.

Quote
•What would you choose: start a small business without a degree, or get a degree first and then start a business?

I'm currently pursuing both. On the one hand, I'm still pursuing a degree, although a degree and diploma are merely proof of my college education.
Given what we're experiencing now, many people might choose not to pursue a college degree.
