As it should be, Harry Kane should win it - he doesn't have all the Spanish PR but the real ones knows Harry had the better season among those 3.

Yamal didn't have a single good individual performance in the champions league and World Cup; he won the WC all thanks to his teammates.

Without the world cup factor, none of the other contenders have anything on Harry Kane, those pushing Yamal are doing so because the Luke the guy, he is a good player no doubt, as is Mbappe but if we are still judging by the performances overall then Kane still takes the lead.
If only England had done better than they did in the world cup then maybe the answer would have been obvious, I'm hoping those reporters vote who deserves it and not who they are a fan of.

I'm now leaning towards either Mbappe or Kane. Yes, it is a world cup year, but there was no outstanding Spanish player in the last year. Individually, Mbappe was brilliant both for club and country (in the World Cup). Harry Kane is another candidate, it has to be one of the two.

I voted for Mbappe ion this poll and was explaining why I think he should win in the thread, but now after reading other comments and seeing predictions and stuff, I'm now leaning towards Kane more. I mean, if it was up to me, I'd  give the 2026 Ballon D'or to Mbappe, but in reality, if no miracle happens, I think everyone knows that Kane is getting the prize.

I really want to know why you said everyone knows Kane is going to win the ballon D’or, as for me I believe that Mbappé deserve the ballon d’Or more than any player.
He is the only player that has won the highest goal scorer in the league his playing for, and in the champions league and lastly in the World Cup in the same year or season.
By doing this, he has made history and history that is made should be honored. He deserve it more than any player because he has done very well when it comes to personal achievement.

So now if they give Messi a ballon Dior he deserves it? Seeing Messi among the top five is a disgrace to football, what did he do that he deserves to be in that position? A World Cup performance or a team performance that he had in MLS league that any team can win a trophy without being the first in the league? Messi has a good performance in the World Cup but that doesn’t make him one of the top candidates in the Ballon Dior contenders, and those who want him to win the award are just doing that for the love they have for him.

Lionel Messi may have been one of the best Ballon D'or winner before but it wouldn't be fair if they award it to him because he doesn't deserve it even if his country went to the finals, well we don't need to assume it because is definitely something that will not happened, so actually I don't believe his appearance on the list implies anything. Perhaps if their country had also lost at the time Portugal did they would have not put his name, so I believe the finals was the reason why they couldn't disregard him this season, but definitely the award is meant for people more better than him.
