So it seems unlikely that Mbappe won't win the Ballon d'Or this year. I hope the journalists and other voters know what they're doing because his records and individual performances are there for everyone to see.

If we see a different result from what's expected and not Mbappe, the winner of this year's Ballon D'or, it means that it was manipulated and that will be unfair from FIFA side because we have seen Mbappe incredible performance in all competitions. He is gifted and talented with scoring goals and it's so easy for him to find the back of the net. He got an hat-trick two days ago, against Real Sociedad.

One or two matches can't define you, you are favourite to win the balloon d'or. Mbappe is definitely in that's list but I think if you see yamal last season and then has worldcup performance I think everyone will agree yamal is deserve more then Mbappe especially.  But on the other hand some more player which can make himself in that's list are Harry kane and Kavraskali as well are in that's podium but I think Harry kane have the upper hand in that's list but he will be in the yamal list and both score some amazing goal last season and in worldcup as well but overall Yamal will be the winner of 2026 Ballon D’or.

If the Ballon d'Or were a bit more serious, it would be based on the World Cup's top scorer, but only when the World Cup is being held. Otherwise, when there isn't a World Cup, it could consider league champions, Champions League winners, and top scorers in those competitions. But this award seems so politically motivated. I really liked how Kane and Kilian performed, but I didn't like Rodri or Lamine's performances. They're champions, but their performances weren't particularly noteworthy. Bellingham himself was very successful. I don't expect much from the Ballon d'Or; I'm sure it will disappoint me again.

You need to understand that FIFA has specific criteria for the Balloon d'Or winner. They didn't consider goal number without even tracking any big trophy like they always put those ahead on the list who made a good individual performance as well team performance with major titles. For me he will not full fit in because if we look at the previous season then probably he is too scorer in every competition and even in World cup too but keep in mind that he didn't won any major trophy except super Cup like he has only own big title. Of course you made a very valid point yes Mbappe is best with all that we can see, I only chose lamine not because he is good enough to be compared with Mbappe in terms of achievements and performance even in the World Cup, it was a team achievement not his personal performance, so yeah Mbappe is definitely better and the one for it. The influence of having won the World Cup is huge; it's a given that they'll most likely choose a Spanish player. And since the Ballon d'Or has always disappointed me so much, I wouldn't be surprised if they gave it to Rodri, but the one I think will score significantly more goals in the league is Lamine.

The Ballon d'Or doesn't have fixed criteria. If it did, like before when Cristiano and Messi were around, you knew the Ballon d'Or was between those two, but now it's very uncertain.

I think it's going to be very difficult for any of the psg players to win it. The criterias can be a bit complicated especially when the deciding factors are not well concentrated on a specific player. Unlike how Rodri won it in 2024... He was literally very good, and I think he was able secure it for several reasons. He actually won the treble in the 22/23 season, but he had a better individual performance in the 23/24 season where he also won the Euros, Premier league and Super cup. But I think the emphasis was based on his performance, especially after scoring 9 goals and having 15 assists, which a DM doesn't do too often in football.

Imo, a player with a better performance across all competition is likely to win it, and Harry comes first. Last season wasn't even good for Fabian Ruiz... 2 goals and 5 assists isn't even enough to battle for it.

Although winning the World Cup has an impact on winning the Ballon d’Or, it seems a bit doubt to me that Spain’s players will win the Ballon d’Or just because they won the World Cup. When selecting the Ballon d’Or, a player’s performance throughout the season, what he has achieved personally and how much contribution he has made to the team are all considered.

It may seem logical that Rodri was given the Golden Ball of the tournament because Spain won the World Cup. But in the case of the Ballon d’Or, Mbappé was the top scorer of the tournament even though he did not win the World Cup. He is still performing quite well.

And Spain’s World Cup performance was largely the result of combined strength. It is a bit difficult to single out one individual as the best. World Cup winners will be given a lot of priority, especially Lamine Yamal and Rodri, who have a lot of potential.
