Why do I hold Bitcoin?  It is 100% to make profit. Let's not kid ourselves, profit is the main driving force of every investment, it is what made Bitcoin this successful. Bitcoin is structured in such a way that it will attract more demands: being money, it creates scarcity with its 21M cap total supply and its supply halving. According to the law of supply and demand, this scarcity characteristics increases its demand which in turn increases price. So even if we all say "we're in it because of it's utility alone", a lot of investors are in it for profit.

You are not wrong if we are being honest to ourselves because most people take the risk of investing in Bitcoin for the potential profit from it, even though they are aware that it doesn't guarantee quick profit. And that potential profit is what attracts attention, adoption and that contributes to Bitcoin's success and we know if people saw no value in it, no one will care to use it. But the structure of Bitcoin is what gives people the mindset to invest for long term.

Yes, people are attracted to Bitcoin from different perspectives, but I'm attracted to Bitcoin mainly because it has the potential to generate yield if held for the long term and it can also fight against inflation, as this currency acts as a hedge against inflation. By the way, the world's economic infrastructure is under pressure due to geopolitical conflicts and trade tensions, which is also causing inflation in my country.

Bitcoin is limited in suply that is 21 million, many more but just few to mention, all of this can be considered as profit in my own point of view and which has also influence the adoption rate and has contributed to Bitcoin success.

Absolutely you are right the supply of Bitcoin is limited, meaning it is 21 million, in that context it is becoming easier to prevent the depreciation of fiat currency by patiently buying this currency in fractional amounts regularly and as far as I know since it is a means of saving and investment, holding it with a long-term mindset opens up a way to earn significant profits. If you look at today's exchange rate it is clear he is sorry but at that time I am sure he considered the sale of thousands of bitcoins as a profit. The beauty of Bitcoin is that everyone who takes full custody of their Bitcoin is free to do with
it as they like. Everyone is also free to give advice but there really are no do's and dont's when it
comes to buying and selling per say.

The thread title may sound like a command, "shouldn't" could be replaced with "its not advisable".

Also I think everyone at this stage has heard all the stories of people selling and regretted the

The post shows that he did not plan to hold for long because he is expressing regrets for selling at $0.3 and not wait till it got to $8. If he had believed in Bitcoin, he would have held some of those 1,700BTC, lets say held 50% and wait to see where Bitcoin gets to. Imagine holding even 10% of those coins till now, that would have made him a millionaire. This is why I strongly recommend people holding some of their coins and never running out of Bitcoin.

I got your point like not selling all of the Bitcoin but i don't think selling at 0.3 means he didn't believe on Bitcoin. At that time nobody believed that it would reach 8$  or higher. If someone sells today and price goes up after years we can say he should hold those assets a little more but that person didn't know at that time. We know outcome know so it's easy to judge now at today's perspective.

1700 Bitcoin example shows us how big that opportunity was. But holding all those 1700 coins also required the person to keep them hold for years without knowing future. It's easy to say now because we know the worth but at that time nobody knew that. So this example shows us power of hindsight more rather than proving that selling was a mistake

You are right Bitcoin gives people the financial freedom and the government does not support it, that's why they are making sure they are in control of it. This is why it serves as a form of support when there is inflation, which is why many people are interested in it just as way you did and this is a much safer for one to save than keeping it in banks, and that is a very good step for everyone to take as it will protect and be beneficial to them in different areas of their lives.

Even though this thread is up to seven pages I still want to say this, imagine the guy op dropped his post on X(twitter) he is regretting selling at selling cheap at the post which is not even the last two years but many years back imagine his regret at the current price of bitcoin, it’s really crazy how much people are regretting selling and I don’t wanna be part of that, it’s crazy people may not understand this now till the nearest future where they can’t afford it anymore.

The thing is, you're confusing things. You can't mix stories of selling now (or in the contemporary present) with a sale in its early stages. They are totally different situations. Even someone who sold for $10,000 would still have an interesting advantage right now, but it's not the end of the world, unlike what happened to those who sold in the beginning (e.g. $0.30). Right now, we're only at a 50% loss, which isn't much.

Always thinking of taking profits as an investor will make you sell when you are supposed to be holding because of just small profit and it's not also all investor that is in for profit some are accumulating bitcoin as a future asset to there children also know bitcoin also serve as a store of value.

Again saying bitcoin is 100% to make profits simply means that we are guarantee to make profits from bitcoin if we can hodl for long well if this what you mean then you are wrong because as i know bitcoin doesn't guarantee us profit even though it's held for a long time.

The future isn't sure we can't predict what will happen in the future and since bitcoin is also a volatile asset it may come down to the price we never expected even after holding for long so let's not be deceive just accumulate with money you can let go if the worst should happen it wouldn't affect you in any way.

First of all, i didn't say Bitcoin guarantees 100% profit. when I said "it is 100% to make profit" what I meant was that I'm in it for the profit 100%.

Now, when you said Bitcoin is a store of value and in the next paragraph said bitcoin doesn't guarantee profit even though it's held for long, also said it may come down unexpectedly, don't you think that's a bit contradictory. If bitcoin is a store of value, then it is meant to preserve your purchasing power over time and not reduce it.

You're right when you said we can't predict the future, but with Bitcoin scarcity mechanism we all can guess what the future of Bitcoin will look like. Someone in the forum once said Bitcoin has only one direction, up and to the right  .
