How many soccer leagues are there and why do we need so many threads?

Just looking at the 1st page of this section and counted 21 threads dealing with soccer alone. That's just what I counted on the 1st page, imagine if i went counting a few more pages. All of these 21 threads are not different leagues, but more then 12 are. Kinda insane.

1. How many soccer leagues are there? (did a google search and found 191 professional leagues)
2. Is there no way to combine some threads so this section isn't so messy?

Seems a bit crazy to me that we have a separate thread for every single soccer league but I am not 1 that watches the sport so I am curious mostly about the ability to combine some of these threads into 1? 191 leagues means there could be at least 191 threads if someone created 1 for each league, then add on possible gambling threads about these leagues, and duplicates as people just don't pay attention to if there is already a thread on a subject.

There are actually many leagues, and I don't think all the leagues can be discussed here because of how numerous they are, combining all the leagues together may not be the right thing to do, but reducing the number of threads on some of these leagues is possible. There are actually many leagues that some of us who gamble are not familiar with, and are not even among the famous leagues, so some of those leagues can be removed or stopped from discussing on them. I have not been going to those threads that am not familiar with their leagues because I don't gamble on them, but those soccer threads which am familiar with their leagues, am so much interested in discussing about them.

I have a different concern. Even though it's probably annoying for some people to see too many football league threads on this board, the fact that those threads discuss different leagues from different countries still makes sense. But, I am not sure until when I will be okay with that. Because don't forget about the women's leagues too

Also, I have another idea. What if we limit the league threads by only allowing 5 to 10 of the strongest/top leagues? We can make the league selection method a bit more objective by using a third party points system like Opta Power Rankings [1]. For leagues outside of the top 5/10, we can merge them into a "Rest of the World Leagues Discussion Thread".

The gambling discussion board is over-populated with soccer threads as well as with some other repetitive topics related to gambling such as addiction, gambling strategies, etc. Here in this gambling discussion board, we also have so many threads for "boxing" matches because once there is a boxing match, user will start a new thread for that specific match. Do we really need 1 thread for 1 boxing match? I dont think so, I think boxing matches can be discussed in 1 single thread only so the OP of the boxing thread (boxing enthusiast) can simply update the thread once there is new upcoming boxing match. No personal offenses for boxing enthusiast but to make it fair (not only focus on soccer leagues), also for any other sports thread which can be said to have so many threads.

Generally I don't have an issue with someone creating threads but 4 threads within minutes of none other then soccer discussion, which i found kinda funny given this topic, just hope the guy stays active. Now let's see the other 150 threads.

This league are not popular leagues, and that is why there are no much discussion going on on those thread, one would have suggested that they should be locked but since it’s a country league it will look like someone is disrespecting there football league.

The fact that it was created by one person is funny and surprising, is the OP really a fan of those leagues, I’m sure he may not actually be watching those leagues, he just wanted to create them.
We still have more leagues that have been created but there’s few posts on those thread because a lot of people don’t watch those leagues, but one still can’t say they should lock the thread since we still have few people that post there.

However i will suggest to mods, if a league discussion thread is not active for few months they should lock it. I’m very sure this new league discussion threads won’t be active after now.

If those are local leagues, then I guess its more appropriate to post it on their respective local boards.

Because lots of people can't relate what's happening on that league if they post it on global gambling discussion board.

It can help this section to minimize those football discussion threads, also for sure that they could able to get more quality discussion with those people can relate with the topic they posted there.

Some members want their country's league to be discussed on the forum even when they are not popular. There are some Leagues that have very low contributions because they are not well known. Merging these threads would make it complex since there will be difficult to follow-up discussions. My suggestion is that every country should be limited to one thread. The UEFA Champions League and other European Champions should also have their threads.

It doesn't matter if members here want their country's league to be discussed on the forum even, when those leagues are not popular. Bitcointalk is open for any member who want to discuss their country's league. Someone like me doesn't really like watching my country's football league, instead I focus on leagues such as the premier League, La Liga, Europa League and other popular competitions. The place where I usually  get updates on my country's football league is here on the forum, I usually go there to read comment to follow up with what is happening in the league.

I know that these community has really stand as means of educating so many members that doesn't have chance or that don't meet up in watching their country football because they love watching their favorite Leagues but once they come across such thread that concern their country football, they usually ready through the thread to know how interesting the country football entertainment is becoming and if I'm not mistaken here, is not every members here are football lovers but as time goes on, as they having been following several leagues discussion, they eventually pick interest of watching football, so that they can be able to contribute something meaningful in regardless to any leagues discussion.

Hahaha. It's never a problem for us, especially those lovers of football. Your statement explains it all, 'You don't watch the sports', so you may not understand.

I just came across this thread right now, and honestly, it may look messy somewhat, but to football lovers, it's just okay and fine. Reading from the first page of this thread, so many football fans already gave reasons while a possible merger is gonna a bit problematic, and that's it. You know, we are always discussing and analysing the game after watching, and a million replies or comments are made within the shortest time, sometimes even before the game starts, the momentum becomes too high. We speak of expectations, possible wins and so many things, and having these discussions of different professional leagues that has many interest under one thread might just have that particular thread in chaos. The separate thread for major leagues just brings Peace, easy interactions and flow of information. I think it's okay the way it is..

You have a point but isn't this a work of moderators? Because if you think about it carefully wouldn't it be a disaster when we discuss about world cup and premier league in the same thread?

We have french league and many others too, they all need their separate threads if you ask me but what do I know anyway? But just like what I said before I believe it's the job of moderators to figure it all out.

I can't even tell how many times moderators have either deleted or move my topic simply because it's been talked about before or I posted it on the wrong section.

Correct. It's not like there are many associations in boxing. Just 4, if I am correct. Some are just minor leagues or national leagues, which can mostly be handled in the local sections.

About those single topics, well, most users create them because they are popular matches. Association fights that are either a belt fight or a ranking fight. Football, on the other hand, cannot do that. Imagine if every game in one league were a new topic. That will be chaotic.
I think it's okay if there are a lot of football threads, but they must be handled according to leagues. If it's a major league, everything should go in one thread, and no more adding new ones just because one is so thrilled about a rivalry game.

I think the one you mention is different because it's like a casino league discussion, we have a lot of them in the gambling discussion board however, the one you mention has not gotten a sponsor yet, if the thread should get a sponsor the casino name will be add to the thread name.

No, the Champions League is a completely different tournament with different teams taking part. It has the highest status among UEFA’s club competitions, while the Europa League is the second most important tournament. So it makes sense to have two separate topics for these two tournament.

But when you see two identical topics for the same tournament, it becomes unclear why the same topic needs to be duplicated when people will be discussing the exact same matches.

Each league has it own teams, and it own unique way that the teams plays so there is virtual no way that one thread can accurately discuss all the league's in the world. Every country has her own league which they are promoting and making sure that they make it the Very best team in the world. Besides for the purpose of this Forum the Major leagues that are been discussed are the top European leagues,all other leagues are just there dormant. So I didn't subscribe to the idea of bringing different league threads to one and be discussing.

Remember we discuss extensively every weekend in the major leagues, replying to post so just imagine we are bringing two different leagues together the discussion will not be going smoothly as you will be seeing different reply discussing about two different leagues which will be confusing if you ask me. Besides the only leagues that are active in the first page of the gambling section are the top five leagues in Europe and that of European champions league, European Europa league and that of the conference league.

Not at all! Football is number 1 sport in the world, so this game has the highest engagement on our forum. You know, football holds a large portion of betting sports in Bitcoin and crypto space forums. In fact some spam thread have been created due to duplicate threads and our laziness. Those can be deleted or merged by forum moderator. But having a separate thread for major leagues isn't a problem, it's just a necessity for navigation.

It may seem like an overlap because you don't watch football. But if you think about it from the fans point of view then this split is most logical!

It won't seem logical to people who are not fan of football, but what you said is undeniable, because football is the number one sport worldwide, just as you stated and would always be, because I don't think there is any sport that will overtake football in this 21st century, both in terms of interest and popularity. So, I wasn't shocked to see how much people talked about it in this thread. Some people have so much to talk about such as their favourite club, favourite team or the team or county that they we're supporting during the World Cup, so it won't make sense to make use of a single thread. Splitting the thread is fine, as long as the threads are not the same or related. Football is one of the most loved sport in the world, and we have different countries football league and people also have interest in these leagues and they are totally different from another country league and that is why people will always create thread of any league they find interesting and there’s no way we can stop them from doing that as long as the board is open for such to happen.

However, I will be against opening a league thread that is unpopular, any thread that people are not interested in to discuss about should be closed.

In my opinion, it is necessary to keep a few main topics, we are constantly playing in them. People now seem to have paid more attention to football games, because people are playing slot games very little. Here we can narrow down the football topics, we should exclude the leagues in which we do not bet, and it is enough to discuss all the topics in which we bet on football games. And we can attract gamblers more to gambling games through discussion.

You make a fair point regarding the clutter on the first page, but having dedicated threads for major leagues is actually much better for organizing discussion!!
