If I happen to be in such situations, I won't give her a share of the money because she was no longer my wife when I won the bet. Legally since the money wasn't there before there divorce was finalised there is no reason why she should take part in the sharing of it or demand for a share.
On a second thought, I may only agree to help her or assists her if truly she gave up her career to support me in the past. However this is a matter of choice and she doesn't have the right to demand for anything from the man. Her taking the matter to court is only a waste of time on her part , because legally the man is not owning her and it is not within her rights to make such demand.

I think I've seen this story/video somewhere before. There's obviously nothing to do because the court ruled in favour of the man since the winning ticket was purchased after the divorce had already been finalized]. Winning a lottery of $40M immediately after divorce is literally one of the biggest financial comebacks ever, because according to the man's side of the story if I still remember correctly, he said the ex wife asked for divorce after he started having financial difficulties or something like that.

It still depends on if the woman is what it. What if the woman is already seeing another man which is one of the reasons a woman might leave a broke man? There are cases of women that even look for their husbands to just make slight mistake which he can use to leave the marriage. Even if the man might consider helping her, going to the court have changed that and it will not likely happen unless the man is foolish. I think it can be in a way that the woman will call the man and be commanding him to send her part of the money, followed by sending her lawyer and the man and them lawsuit. That is not funny at all.

Apparently this woman was the one bringing bad luck to the guy. Well, now I really doubt he won that in three hours, he was probably hiding the money just waiting for the divorce so he wouldn't have to give her a single cent. Who knows what was going on in their relationship for the guy not to want to give even one cent to his ex-wife. If it were me, I'd give her a million dollars and tell her never to contact me again, after all, it's 40 million, that's enough money for generations to never have to worry about cash again.

This is just wow…legally she’s not entitled to anything. I will say the man is one of the most lucky man at the moment, hitting a jackpot after his divorce , what are the odds. This saying “everything happened for reason “ , them divorcing happened for a winning , base on what then man share the woman is definitely shameless. Like you guys are literally divorced , I believe he took the step to stake his money base on the way it he was feeling at that moment due to the divorce drama (because he clearly mentioned getting 4 bottles of beer also if I’m not mistaken ) while getting the ticket .

I dont know if this was posted here before, but if it ws i will lock this topic asap.

There's a video circulating on social media lately about a woman who took her ex-husband to court for her own share of the $40 million lottery he won 3hours later, after their divorce was finalized.
The woman claimed she suffered with the man for 7 years, while she also gave up her career to support the man during those 7 years, but the ex-husband dont buy it and said she was interested in the little money he had now his lottery jackpot winnings after they had already divorced.

If you're the man, what will you do?
Source

From my point of view, since the husband and wife have separated, the wife will not legally get the lottery money, where two people have already separated, it is understandable that the woman will have no right to claim the money from the man. The woman cannot claim this big amount of money because there is no legal relationship between them, in that case she cannot claim the jackpot from the man. From my point of view, legally the woman cannot claim the winning money, it is completely unreasonable.

If a man thinks he has a lot of money, he can manage his life very well with a certain amount of money. However, this is a completely personal matter for the man, no one can force it here.

Personally, I clearly refuse to share the money, but legally this is absolutely impossible.
I do not know which country the couple is from, but if this really happens in my country then his wife is very likely to get her share of the money. In the above case, the $40m money is still included in the category of marital money, of course because the husband got it when his marital status was still husband and wife. Both are entitled to a 50% share of each, but if both have made a letter of agreement that there is no division of property in case of divorce, then both are only entitled to each other's rights. If the $40m is win after the divorce, then the wife is not entitled to a share of the money, obviously not marital money anymore. But first, I think the settlement of the case will certainly be resolved based on the laws that apply there.

In gambling term I will say the lady just played a loss game because the marriage was already over before the man won the lottery, but I am still wondering her she got the information because it was me I will not even inform her I will just let her go in peace, and she even claims she sacrifice her career for her husband that is a sacrifice a person can make in marriage, but later it turns out that she became tired and starts seeing the man as a burden, not knowing that the man has been working really hard secretly to make their lives better, she became impatient, once some ladies are in a position to cater for the family because the man is having difficult time they start thinking of divorce.

According to divorce regulations, a woman is not entitled to any further claims from the man; since the lottery was won after the divorce, she cannot claim any share of the winnings. However, I find it interesting that the woman did not win any lottery while she was still in the man's life as his wife, yet the moment the divorce took place, the man's luck turned around and he won a $40 million jackpot. This suggests that the woman had been a curse in his life, and his fortunes changed the very day the divorce was finalized.

Imagine the outrage in social media if this was the opposite scenario, and this was about a man am claiming money which was won by a gambling woman.
People would have no doubt and side with the woman who just got lucky and got a life changing about of money.
Sometimes I believe we are currently living in a western society which is rather unfair against men, specially men who happen to be gamblers.

I hope that man can enjoy his newly earned money and he can keep a serious distance from his ex-wife, who is obviously just after him to make his life miserable and take as much money as possible from him.

Assuming the man never won $40M jackpot the lady would not seek for shares which clearly shows the determination for wanting shares after a divorce. Sorry to say most divorce nowadays is as a result of what the partner looks forward to gain either asset, property etc, nothing genuine otherwise the time 3hours after divorce doesn’t warrant sharing of asset because they’re no longer couples legally. I think the court will not look into this matter, if she claimed to stay with the man for too long  why not stay till whenever probably who knows what might happen if they never had a divorce although this decision is base on the man choice.

Lol, this lady seems like a gold digger to me.

Legally and morally, a cold-headed analysis of the matter reveals the reality.

If I were in that man's shoes, I would not have given him a single penny.

Why? Because a divorce being final means the official settlement of all joint property, debt and legal obligation.
If he wins that lottery after 3 hours then he has bought that ticket as a completely single free individual.
Here, the emotional blackmailing of I have suffered for seven years type will not last a minute in court. Because there is no merger or pre-processed right on lottery jackpot ticket.

I have a different opinion on this issue. Why are women so interested in a man's money after a divorce? Is it that they don't make money anymore as soon as they are married. Some laws need to be abolish because it is because the law state it that a woman is entitled to a man's property after a divorce, that is the reason why there are a lot of divorce cases in the world and it has to do with men who are rich.

You can never see the wife of a poor man asking for a divorce because the man doesn't own anything to give her after a divorce. Though I'm not a lawyer to say what will happen in this situation but inasmuch as the jackpot was won after the divorce, the woman shouldn't have any share in it. She might even be a bad luck for the man because how is it that when their divorce was finalised, that is when the man won that jackpot.

If I were in that man's , I would run and flee as far away as possible—as far as I could.
The only thing to do is find a really good lawyer and make sure not to hand over a single penny let the lawyer get paid, but that woman has no right to anything. I seem to recall reading a similar story, though I can't quite remember where. I wonder how a situation like this would play out legally. Could the woman win if it went to court? I don't think so, but there might still be some uncertainty.

At this point I know the man owes the woman nothing since they are divorced already, then the win came.
But if I want to look at this on another angle if I am the man, I can choose to send something over to her, not because she is entitled to my money but because she was there during the hard time and now there is money when she’s no longer there, I would just want to appreciate her.

I agree with you because the woman obviously is and has been a bad luck to the man. Probably she divorced him because he gambled so much and now he's won, she feels entitled but that is not how it is supposed to be.
This is one reason why during most marriages today, a prenuptial agreement is signed so as to avoid this kind of scenario of wealth division because it seems that most women and even men go into marriage because of how much wealth their spouse has and not because they love and want to spend the rest of their lives with them.
I won't give the woman a dime even if I was the judge preciding over the case.

Source
There are some important factors to consider here; perhaps the man had a pre-existing gambling addiction that ruined both his own career and his wife's, eventually driving her to divorce him—since a gambling addict rarely maintains a successful career. However, given that he won a $40 million jackpot just three hours after the divorce, he should set aside any lingering anger or resentment and take his wife back. After seven years of marriage, a strong bond inevitably forms between a couple, so if she is willing to return of her own accord, he certainly ought to accept her.

Obviously, this is all for money. I'm just happy that the man didn't buy it, otherwise the said fortune will be shared half which I think is really unfair on the real bettor. I would literally do the same if it happened to me. That divorce should mark the final end between us. Only the kids have the rightful share for the money, the ex-wife should have none.

I don't know if this is fate, or it's just the man only get lucky after getting out from a toxic marriage life. Maybe that divorce is the lucky charm, if there's no divorce, maybe the universe will not also favor the man and give his fortune. Just my personal opinion.

How many people are having the endurance to persevere on difficult situations in a relationship, there are many people that gambling has given a life changing opportunity, when the apartment and other people could not confined trust and confidence in them to have a better future, gambling make it possible even at the least of their expectation and broke the protocols to make opportunity for those who never expected it coming.

Even if she did gave up her career, she definitely isn't the first woman on this planet to do so...Moreso the man didn't ask her to do so, did he? And I also don't see why I would still agree to assist her, someone who consciously left me when I had nothing only for she to come back and then insisting that I shared my winnings with her..Assuming I lost that bet she would have mocked me and insulted me too..So that case is supposed to be dismissed immediately coz the marriage has already ended before the money was won and so she actually has no entitlement to the money any longer..Honestly she is definitely a thief for trying to claim ownership of something that isn't hers, and she is supposed to be arrested because of that and put behind bars for like 5-10 yrs..
