I can only agree that the poor are more in numbers as gamblers but the rich are the ones spending more money in gambling.
The point is that if we count the number of rich and poor people, we will see that there are many more poor people than rich people. Again, if we count the amount of money, then of course rich people use or spend more money on gambling than poor people. I think that the number of poor people in gambling is more for this reason. They think that by gambling with a small amount of money, they can quickly gain a lot of money, through which they can completely change their lives, become rich quickly, through which they can fulfill all the hopes and desires of life. The number of poor people is more in the hope that among those who are really rich, those who gamble, most of them goal to enjoy some entertainment through gambling.

People are always saying that the poor people are the ones gambling more than the rich people,
Whether poor or rich, people are exactly the same (when viewed from the perspective of psychology and personal interests). Remember that, back in the last century, aristocrats would gamble away entire estates in card games. The wealthy have no advantage when it comes to RTP. now my question is those who are depositing $50k to $100k on casinos are they poor people,
Well, if judge by the standards of the world’s wealthiest people according to Forbes, then these folks are probably just destitute. because I’m sure poor people won’t have huge amount of money to deposit in a casino.
But they can borrow money or take out a loan. So it’s the rich people that always deposit huge amount of money on a casino and not the poor and this means the rich are the ones gambling more than the poor.
Your method for assessing who gambles the most (based on the total amount of money wagered) is rather peculiar. It should be approached differently. Would need to gather statistics on "wealthy" versus "less affluent" gamblers, having first established the criteria for which gamblers (and which deposit amounts) fall into each category, at least within a single casino, and then calculate the number of hours each group spends gambling. The total amount of money deposited by a given category of gamblers only reveals the scale of their spending (wagers) and their subsequent losses \ winnings. I can only agree that the poor are more in numbers as gamblers but the rich are the ones spending more money in gambling.
Are you suggesting, then, that the RTP is effectively higher for the poor gamblers? That is, if they end up losing less. On an individual level, the wealthy might spend more money on gambling. However, to determine in a general sense whether wealthy or less affluent gamblers spend more, one would need statistical data from casinos.

Poor people are the one who spends more in casinos, Wealthy human are spending big amount in casino though mostly a spare of their budgets and having fun while other gamblers are poor though they may spending little but that is a huge percentage of what they have. I hope you get me, Poor people are spending bigger because of what they have (percentage) and most rich people are just using their spare.
Some poor people also lose money in gambling and become poor. Although poor people can gamble, but when they lose, they do not have money to gamble anymore. Rich people have more money, with which they can gamble even after losing. Gambling is for everyone, but poor people do not gamble for fun. They gamble for their own enjoyment and to earn money, while rich people gamble for their own comfort and to pass the time. Therefore, poor people can also go in for it and both play according to their own budget. That is why poor people fail quickly. If they win by luck, it can become a profit, while rich people give some money to relax from their work for their time, and poor people go under the pressure of losing more money.

With respect to their income strength, the poor spend more money than the rich because they spend more from their little income and the rich spend less from their abundance. When we calculate from amount actually deposited, only one whale that decides to gamble can deposit as much as thousands of poor people and gamble it all away without feeling it, so the rich actually bring more of the funds into the casino and that's why they're recognized with VIP levels, personal account manager and other benefits.

Maybe personally I don't comment much on the OP's question, I think the answer from @Rikafip makes sense in this discussion. Well you claimed that majority of gamblers are poor because "what's the point of gambling if you are rich enough". And i pointed out that there are bunch of rich and middle class people gambling regularly, as people gamble for various reasons.
Poor people gamble with a hope that they will solve their bad financial situation and other issues by gambling. Rich and middle class people play for other reasons. Their need for money in this case is secondary reason why they play, first one is adrenaline and excitement that winning brings. I met bunch of lawyers and doctors who simply liked to play a bit after a hard day. They weren't hardcore gamblers or high rollers, they simply played for fun.
OP, if you could finish this discussion, there is a long discussion here: Topic: Most of gamblers are rich or poor?

Well, we cannot be sure whether those are rich people depositing money or a group of poor people using a single account to gamble all their money on one game, like pooling.
But there is some truth to the idea that the target customers are mostly poor. They are the ones who can be too greedy to try and change their life through gambling. This is why most physical casinos are erected near the poor area or the residential area of them because they want to urge them to gamble their money in exchange for trying their luck and maybe winning the game. But we all know that is not true. They just want to take our money.

Let say the rich gamble for fun and are not bothered by how much they lost or gain but they do not gamble frequently just once awhile or in their leisure time, but the poor gamble to make profit and they are usually affected by their losses and keep gambling to recover their money, while chasing lose they end up losing more money, also the poor gamble frequently because they are trying to make profit, so the amount this two parties spend on gambling games can not be over emphasize, because if a survey should be carried out I am very sure both the rich and the poor gamblers spend reasonable sum of money in gambling, though the rich might play a game with huge amount, but the poor might play multiple times with small amount which when sum up gives a huge amount.

Naturally, the wealthier you are, the more you spend. Rich or wealthier people are indeed the group of people who spend more money on casinos. But for wealthier people, the proportion of what they earn compared to what they spend on gambling is still healthier compared to people with lower incomes. People with lower incomes are the group that is more badly affected by gambling. Why? Because they spend a larger proportion of their income to fulfill their gambling habits. Gambling expenditure tends to increase with income, but people with lower incomes spend relatively larger proportion of their total budget on gambling.

It does not depend on the condition of the person but on the amount of income he has. Those who are poor, when they lose by gambling twice, try to stop gambling and start working hard to manage the money for the next bet. But those who do not have money problems and have multiple sources of income can continue gambling even if they lose. That is why I think the rich are more likely to participate in gambling or become addicted to it than the poor. It is also true that the poor are more likely to participate in gambling to become rich, so the poor are more likely to become addicted to gambling than the rich.

If a poor player develops a gambling addiction, they could even end up losing their home, those are very substantial amounts of money as well. So in some cases, although I'd say they're rare, even poor players can lose enormous sums. And since you agree that more low-income players gamble in casinos than wealthy people, I think that in absolute terms, poor players probably lose more money in casinos overall than wealthy players do. Besides I think most people go to casinos hoping to make money, whereas wealthy people might sometimes gamble for the adrenaline rush, but rarely to earn extra income.

why is this important to talk about? You surely know that the value of money differs for the rich and the poor. If you judge it by the amount of money deposited in the casino, of course the rich have more. But in terms of value, you yourself know there are more gamblers from the middle and lower classes. The casino would certainly be happy if their customers are rich people who generously spend a lot of money gambling. But they may have a different view regarding poor gamblers. If not, they might set minimum deposits and bets that are fairly high.

I see it much the same way: the wealthy look for a place to be entertained, and even if luck isn’t on their side, they can simply walk away, shrugging it off. For someone who is poor, however, gambling can, at a certain point, turn into a desperate struggle for survival. Having lost an entire month’s wages with no savings to fall back on and bills or food expenses still to cover the player may end up going "all in," wagering everything they can get their hands on. They might even go so far as to deceive close friends or relatives, in that moment, winning back what they’ve lost becomes their absolute top priority though it is something they will surely regret later.

People are always saying that the poor people are the ones gambling more than the rich people,
Is there even a trusted survey data that establish how true this claim is or it's just a false claim that the poor people are spending more and also gambling more than rich people? I know I have also thought so before but when I did some search, I didn't really find any verifiable evidence but logically I do think that because the poor and middle class people are large in number, then we must have more of them gambling than the number of rich people that gambles... I agree that it would be wrong to judge who gambles more just by looking at the size of their deposits. But that doesn't mean the wealthy person spends more time at the casino or gambles more often. Wealthy people can also develop gambling addictions, but the financial consequences may not be as noticeable simply because they have a lot more money. That's a much better way to tell when something that's supposed to be just entertainment is starting to turn into a serious problem.

I also agree with your reasoning that those who deposit such large sum of money into casino cannot be poor, that much is clear. However, a small number of ultra high roller do not represent the entire rich segment of population. Imo, large depositor is not necessarily a wealthy individual in their personal capacity. They could be businessman, problem gambler or even individual who place bets using credit card. In my view both of your claim are partially true, they are two side of same coin. In terms of participation rate, poor are more involved in gambling and for them level of relative harm is much higher. However in terms of total revenue a small high spending group many of whom are rich, generates large portion of casino industry's earning.

Talking of involvement or spending in casinos i will say its the rich, they spend more in casinos than the poor but the poor spends time and energy with hope of building wealth through casinos without knowing its not an easy one to archive. The poor are the reasons why many criticise the existence of casinos because they abuse it on the process all in the name of pushing for hope of positive return at last. The poor do spend the little meant for the consumption of they and their family with hope one day it will pay off at last. The rich do not abuse the use of casinos but stake with higher capitals which at times turns positive because they take little risk.

Perhaps people should have said that the poor participate more in gambling than the rich. Yes, although the rich are fewer in number, since they use a lot of money in gambling, the rich should be put ahead in terms of money usage. But even if they use less money, the poor are more in terms of the number of participants in gambling. To be honest, there are many poor people who cannot earn the money required to meet their basic needs. Then they bet on their luck. They start gambling with the little money they earn, thinking that if they win once, they can change their fate. Yes, most poor gamblers participate in gambling in this way. However, the situation is different in the case of the rich. Many people say that they gamble for pleasure, but I do not fully believe this. Since there is a possibility of winning money in gambling, they gamble because there is a possibility of winning money. But yes, those who can deposit one lakh to one and a half lakh dollars in gambling are among the rich gamblers.

This is relative, because for the poor, the little they bet can already be a lot for them. So, based on that, in my opinion, the poor are the ones who lose the most money in online and physical casinos, where it's allowed. The ban on casinos here in Brazil was based on this pretext: protecting the poor from debt. At no point was anything said about the rich, who certainly also gambled.

Gambling more does mean who gambles with the highest amount but how frequently they gamble, also there is something called gambling based on your worth, example a rich man who gambles with 100k but worth millions and a poor man who gambles is not even the thousands but gambles with like $100 or more, checking this you would see that the poor man is using more of his resources to gamble than the rich man

What people had posted on this forum that I read is that if the total amount of the money spent on gambling is calculated, rich people spend money on gambling than the poor people, but the poor people are risking more money on gambling. You do not have to use huge amount of money to bet before you risk more money on gambling. Example is a rich person that is earning $100000 monthly, spending $5000 on gambling. Compare such person with someone that is earning $500 monthly, but spending $400 on gambling monthly.

If you check the data of deposits let say from January to December 2026 you see that gambling deposit inflows have been from whales who deposits thousands of dollars into the casino, some of the reports we get is that more rich people are beginning to take advantage of online gambling privacy to make a lot of bets must especially now that predictions market make it possible to bet on real life events that can be easily predicted.
