What do I do with my NRS? After you download and install the wallet and fill it with NRS from the exchange, you can use it like any other coin (like bitcoin!), you can let it sit in the wallet and gain stake (like interest!), or you can spend it to gain ownership shares in Noir Group DACs (Like stocks!)! The wallet does not need to be open all the time to get stake, just open it every week or so to catch up to the rest of the network!

The Technology

NRS itself is built as a hybrid momentum Proof of Stake/Proof of Work - NoirShares is one of the first hybrid Momentum PoS/PoW cryptos. The momentum algorithm has memory hard qualities which reduce GPU mining advantages, changing difficulty almost instantly as hashrate changes, thereby accurately reflecting miner demand.  NoirShares also runs a self-maintaining blockchain that does not need many hard forks to keep it going. What all this basically means is that NoirShares is running the latest in coin hashing tech with the most efficiency and stability, laying the foundation for a truly effective DAC.

The Specifications

• Doubles as both currency and equity for Noir Group.
• 80 shares per block initially
• 5 minute block time
• Per block difficulty adjustment
• PoW ends at 50,000
• 5% block reward reduction every 3000 blocks
• 3% stake, minimum stake age is 7 days, full age 14 days
• Transaction fees at 0.01 NRS are destroyed in an attempt at aggressively countering inflation due to mining and stake
• 250k seed for corporate development, bounties, salaries, marketing, etc, approved expenses voted on by board members
• As the chain progresses and transitions to relying more on PoS blocks, it becomes highly energy efficient in comparison to pure PoW coins.
• This weaning of reliance on high powered machines encourages the average user to be able to have a functioning node that if used properly can be profitable.

--Step 0 Dump Private Keys
--Step 1 See if blockchain redownload is needed.
     Help > Debug Window > Console. In the console type "getblock ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffeeee"
     If return is Block not found (code -5) there is no need to re-download the chain proceed to step 5
        1a otherwise backup privatekeys type "dumpprivkey <NRS Address>" and copy down the output some place safe as this is how you will get your coins back.
        1b repeat 1a for each receiving address
--Step 2 Shut down NoirShares, verify not still running in background
--Step 3 If Block found open application data folder for NoirShares
     Windows default is %appdata%/NoirShares
     Linux default is ~/.NoirShares

There are two initial participating groups in Noir Group projects:

1.  General Fund - Now closed

The General Fund consists of participates who initially funded Noir Group and are entitled to participate in all projects untaken.

NRS Owners

NoirShares ("NRS") entitles you to participate in projects when they are launched.  Snapshots will be taken of ownership at announced 'spin off' dates that will separate out projects as they are launched.

For example, if there are 1.6 Million NRS and you own 100,000.  That means you are entitled to 1/16 of the NRS share of any new DAS that are launched while you own the shares.  

Each project will have it's own distribution, this can vary greatly depending on the initial investment, how much 'General Fund' investment went into it, how much additional funding is required, etc.

For example,
If we have a big project that we have put 10 BTC into and we think we will need an additional 10 BTC then we are likely to do an IPO.  Keep in mind that we will not do an IPO on every project, just the few big projects that will require a lot of additional capital that we can't self fund.

So we will have a distribution something like 20% general fund 20% NRS 20% IPO and 40% mining.

The 20% for the general fund will go to funding the development team as well as rewarding the general fund owners (angel investors).  

The 20% for NRS will be based on just holding NRS in your wallet so just having NRS will entitle you to that share.

The 20% IPO will consist of us posting a thread to Bitcointalk.org inviting the general public to invest in that specific project.  In order to invest in that specific project, the general public will need to contribute NRS to a specific address with that 20% being distributed based on that percentage.  

The 40% mining will go to supporting the network.

The first miner went live on April 7th with the remainder coming online on April 12th.  The current hash average is 4.5TH and is allocated as follows:

1.5 TH is going to NRS savings.
1.5 TH is going to NRS general fund participates.

Important update from the old thread:

Just a quick note as I have been getting asked this regularly.  We plan on having a pool deployed for GPU miners this weekend.

Since their is no GPU miner that works with Coyote protocol that we have been using Cheeto, the block quarry owner, has been updating the pool server to support the same protocol that beeeeer uses.  I have been using Girino's PTS GPU pool miner against it (https://github.com/girino/ptsminer) and it has found a couple of blocks.  Cheeto still has a few changes to make and bugs to fix before it is ready for everyone but we figure it will be good to go this weekend.

This will be a separate pool url from the existing NRS pools that will only support the beeeeer protocol.
