The power consumption at the wall will be ~2500 Watt.

For the SP30, we'll use two 1200 Watt PSUs. We're evaluating:

Emerson              P/N DS1200-3-002
http://www.artesyn.com/power/power-supplies/websheet/401/DS1200

Murata                 P/N D1U3CS-W-1200-12-HA4C
http://www.murata-ps.com/en/products/ac-dc-power-supplies/1u-front-end/d1u4-w-1200-12-ha1c-6.html

ASIC Power Performance is 0.35 Watt / GH/s

AC2DC derating is ~0.92

DC2DC derating is ~0.85

Fans will consume ~60 Watt

(2500 - 60) * 0.92 * 0.85 / 0.35 = ~5.45 TH/s

The spec of the SP30 is 5.4 TH/s +- 10%

I like those numbers, but I will fence sit.   Make my mind up on the 25th.

I wish the wait was not until August. For hashing.

Please don't troll this thread. Thinking that the difficulty will raise nonstop with 15% is simply unreal and it's bad intended. There are other threads where you can speculate about the difficulty, but this is not the place and i won't allow it.I will just add that considering that the SP30 will be the most efficient miner starting from August it means that you will be able to mine for a longer period of time than the whole 50000TH/s that is plugged in right now supporting the Bitcoin Network. I don't want to continue this discussion and i will delete all further posts about it. Take it to another thread!

I think it might be helpful if you lay out how you think we should think of difficulty because honestly when I plugged the numbers into the calculator that I use I came to a similar conclusion as JWU42.  Pre-order concerns aside that's really the the other thing that would keep me from going with this.

Edit: or even just link to a thread where you think has a good explanation of where the difficulty is headed.

I will refrain from making any assumption regarding the difficulty because nobody knows what hashing power will be deployed in the future and i don't want to influence people by telling them that difficulty will be X or Y. Everyone should make take their own decision based on what they find fitted for themselves, but i will only say that a nonstop grow of 15%-20% is unsustainable. If you think that it's not worth buying miners then there are many more like you which means that difficulty will grow at a slower rate than 15%-20%. For me it's simple. I will just give you an example. At 100 billion difficulty and 500$ per BTC having 100TH which consumes 100kW would make you around 3k$ per month that's not taking into consideration the cooling that you will need. Also deploying 100 TH means investing A LOT of money. Who would invest A LOT of money just to make a couple thousand per month? Actually if we take into consideration the cooling i think that you are already in the negative values which means the big growth will stop or slow down very much.

Again, take the difficulty discussions somewhere else please. Don't come here if you post something about difficulty and you get deleted.

I like those numbers, but I will fence sit.   Make my mind up on the 25th.

I wish the wait was not until August. For hashing.

Your gear appears to be the nicest most professional gear I have seen. I can run 1 unit in house.

If you want to start hashing faster then reserve the spot by sending 0.1 BTC for every unit that you would like to purchase. Spoondolies Tech said that they will respect the reservation queue. Until now they have delivered the units faster than they said and i have a feeling that it will be the case for the August units too. If people speculate about the difficulty behaving the same as it did in the past i see no reason to not believe that Spoondolies Tech won't behave the same regarding shipping Smiley

preorders are a tough sell now.

I rather order a sp10 from them and get it in around 1-2 weeks.

August ship dates are a tough sell.  So many long time for delivery deals have busted out.

KnC had no problems selling 2 or 3 batches (not sure if CA batch counts as a regular batch or not)  with delivery over 5 months and little updates and nobody complained/thought about difficulty back then. Even now they are offering 3TH for 6k$ and still no clear date except "one month after Batch 2" which would translate to August/September delivery for a much worse $/GH ratio.

the attack is not directed at you personally......  the attack is against pre-ordering..

Now if you want to take 0.1 btc to save a spot in the queue.. and full payment when the rigs are about to be shipped.. that would be acceptable... It would be like buying an option.

Read my post again. I said the attack was for this group buy, not for me personally. I see that there are other pre-orders group buys for Neptune and you didn't make any pre-order remarks in them, but you felt the need to make the remark here and on Spoondolies Tech hardware thread. If you want to be fair then please make the remark on all threads or don't make any remark. Thx Smiley

the attack is not directed at group buys in general... only pre-ordering.

I don't have time to visit all pre-ordering threads... I happen to be here cause of the spoonname... which I am considering purchasing if we can negotiate a fair price.

My point is the groundhog day action of pre-ordering...  companies need to make the hardware and sell it.. or only sell daily what they can make in a day.. not vaporware that has not been shown to work yet.

I think you didn't understand me. There are 2 group buys for Neptune right below this one (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=347845.0 and https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=347732.0) and you weren't complaining there, but you complained here. If you want to be fair you should complain in all pre-order group buys, not only on the ones that you choose because if you do it only on the ones that you choose it means that you either have something against the company or against the organizer and since you have nothing against me the only conclusion is that you have something against the company which makes you biased.

Sorry to ask but to get it clear : How does the queue position works? The queue position is based when the 0.1 btc per machine was sent?

Don't forget that when you get your titan, KNC will be mining with 10 titans (per titan sold). You would be lucky to break even with a scrypt asic (or any asic miner)

They got something like $5.5m in venture capital, which allowed them to do their R&D and produce a limited run of SP10s which they have now sold out.  I believe this next push to 28nm for the SP30s costs about $20m, and they need to raise that money through pre-orders because their VC money doesn't stretch that far.  (I'm quoting all figures from memory from posts in their official thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521520.0)

No company has produced 28nm without taking pre-orders.  It's just a much more expensive process.

OT: I've been looking at scrypt lately. From the hash-rate growth I believe that scrypt ASICs are already hashing.
Maybe we'll do that also down the road. Need to deal with the menace on all fronts...

preorders are a tough sell now.

August ship dates are a tough sell.  So many long time for delivery deals have busted out.

Even now they are offering 3TH for 6k$ and still no clear date except "one month after Batch 2" which would translate to August/September delivery for a much worse $/GH ratio.

yeah but they basically were coming off a grand-slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to win the world series.

By that I mean the Oct-Nov delivery of the Jupiter .  BTC was over 1 k and people such as myself had made good money on their gear.

Now coins are 500 or less.  Asics are a dime a dozen.  Lets be real I can order s-1s today and they will be at my house on Monday.

0.877 a unit  so 10 cost 8.77 btc that is about 4253.45 usd.   I mine 2th in under 4 or 5 days.    add in 700 for power supplies.

so 5k gets me 2th hashing on tues .   this is why you are getting resistance to this sale.

Many of us also see they know how to build the 1.4th sp10 it is a great unit push that on us.

NOW  to be honest my great hope is they are truly mad genius's and all this thread was to  ploy create a group buy for the sp10.  For may delivery at good prices.

Spoondolies always did pre-orders. But until now they had just a small delay of a couple of weeks from the moment of order and until the moment of shipping. Until now they never shipped from stock.

Sorry to ask but to get it clear : How does the queue position works? The queue position is based when the 0.1 btc per machine was sent?

Yes. The queue position is based when the 0.1 btc per machine is sent.

I was thinking of going for a mini Titan but I dont want to reward KNC for screweing its customers so bad

Don't forget that when you get your titan, KNC will be mining with 10 titans (per titan sold). You would be lucky to break even with a scrypt asic (or any asic miner)

That's something that Spoondolies won't do, but i don't want to start another debate of i say no, you say yes and so on until we get to a dead end.
