My 1 cent: any left-over coins should be burned in a transparent fashion. It will legitimize you and the coin. Since you made a very good effort at distribution I don't think you'll have any problems raising funds for extra's afterwards.
Myself, I'd be partial to splitting then into four buckets: 25% each.
- 25% goes into category 3 (0.1-1 BTC);
- 25% goes into category 2 (up to 0.1 BTC)
- 25% goes into category 1 (the giveaway)
- and 25% goes to bounties.
Right now, I'm chock-full in all categories except category 4 and I'm entitled to 78 million coins. So, adding the category-4 overage would put no-one over the 100 million limit.
As for the (add to the) bounty fund: it's be a great way to show that NFD is better than NAS. Bounty-paid services getting built around NFD pronto would make NFD legitimate out of the gate. NAS was hurt because it was pegged as a mere (inferior) clone of NXT with nothing unique.
