[XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency

After this attack (14 months ago) the Monero core devs refocused their efforts to strengthening the Monero protocol. Now we are close to reaping the full benefits of this in the 0.9 release, and anyone can compile the source now and see how much better it is.

Bitcoin also endured many attacks in its infancy, far worse than this one, it serves to make the network stronger. If you don't like it, that's fine. This is not something to invest in, it's an experiment. I find it to be a fun open source project with a great community that I like participating in and contributing my skills.

You all may turn me to the dark side (monero side?) after all    Really, we need more than one secure, private coin, right?  We need a pepsi for the coke.  Think of me like that mean ol school marm, I just want you to succeed and grow like a purty flower

In addition, nearly all of the codebase has been rewritten, cleaned-up and documented. Monero is really moving away from the original Bytecoin code which it forked from.

I'm working on a cross-platform Monero GUI, codenamed Mono (esperanto for "Money"). It's essentially a Node.js app built with the Electron platform: http://electron.atom.io/

I had an idea of a logo that incorporates the well-known Monero "M" design with the "Electron" atoms imposed on top, if anyone has the skills to make that look good I would love to incorporate it as an icon.

Development is still in the very early stages, so there is plenty of time if you are interested. Thanks!

This is my first time using either on a project. After doing some research and trying both out, I couldn't really decide which one was "better". Ultimately I went with Electron because I liked their documentation a bit more. I think either of them would be suitable for the job.

Thanks for pointing this out! Very helpful, the Sia wallet looks great. The code will be open source, I'll definitely keep you posted when things get rolling.

Let me just add that the Sia wallet is structured so that all pages are 'plugins', i.e. its very easy to add your own 'plugin'. The core functionality resides in a couple of files and I don't think they're very Sia specific either. Mostly just generalized siad calls etc. I think you could very easily plug in your bitmonerod RPC calls in the code and get meaningful results very quickly. Could save you months of work. Seriously.

Our website getmonero.org can use more documentation. Anyone can create content and submit a pull request.
For example today I was asked for more details on our dynamic block sizing (one of our three pillars). More could be done to describe this on our website. People should not have to look in GitHub for the formula or use extensive Google searching for precise terms. Details should be readily accessible (and linked from here https://forum.getmonero.org/1/news-announcements-and-editorials/183/editorial-the-three-pillars-of-monero)

If anyone wants to contribute to writing content/guides but doesn't know Github or how to make a pull request, I would be happy to help or even submit the pull request for you if you don't have the time.
