https://github.com/monero-project/bitmonero/releases/tag/v0.9.0

Overview
Too much to describe. Represents a major release in Monero's history, over a year-and-a-half in the making.
...

Great. Happy new year! 0.9. still not updated at getmonero.org

I'll focus on a side point, since I have no clue why the windows version would silently die:

2015-Dec-31 17:43:17.718750 WARNING: no two valid MoneroPulse DNS checkpoint records were received

That is odd. Can you ping checkpoints.moneropulse.co, checkpoints.moneropulse.se ?
If you have dig, what is the output of:
dig -t TXT checkpoints.moneropulse.co
dig -t TXT checkpoints.moneropulse.se

If you have another DNS tool to run on the same machine bitmonerod runs on, you can use it instead to query the TXT record for these two hosts.

I don't have dig, but I'll test more in a few days - just need someone with physical access to this 32 bit win machine to turn it on first. Any good windows replacement of dig? Or is there a dig win 32 bit version (or lmgtfy.com link)?

And here's some 1st impressions on the new release:
Sync'ed from scratch in about 40 minutes on a couple years old i7 with SSD, all the while sync'ing CPU usage was just shy of 50%.
Once fully sync'ed, memory usage is around 55MB. This is on a Win8-x64 box with good connectivity.  Smiley

Do: nslookup -type=TXT checkpoints.moneropulse.co
(nslookup = buildin @ Windows.)

hei guys can someone double check the mining performance when cpu mining with previous releases?
i get like up to 50% lower performance. or is it a bug when displaying the hashrate in bitmonerod?

mining with 3 threads on i7 8 core

thank you all

I am mining at 73 H/s with 4 threads on i7 2600k.

BTW, sync is really fast, took me aroun an hour to sync from scratch.

yes thats too slow if you ask me, but maybe its ionly the display..

btw i think 3 threads should be enough on i7 2600k.

with old release i had like 180 h/s on 2700k 4ghz if i remember correctly.

4 threads will get max performance (around 200) but 3 will reduce impact if you are using the computer for something else. Anyway, 73 is too low, yes. Something is wrong there.

32 bit is still WIP (work in progress). The code works fine but there are build issues and we are also looking at dumping the Berkeley DB fallback and using LMDB on all platforms.
