I'm trying to transfer some monero from MyMonero to Poloniex. I got the deposit address and payment ID from polo, copied and pasted it all into MyMonero and clicked the compelte button but nothing seemed to happen. My balance on MyMonero didn't go down and it's been 15 minutes and so far nothing has shown up on Polo... any idea what could've happened?

update on this one. It finally showed up on polo... it took 45 minutes though... is that common? I set the mix to just 3...

I've had transactions take 30-35 minutes before.  Most times its about 10 minutes.  Might have something to do with the traffic at Polo.

Keep in mind that your transactions stay in the memory pool while the mix segments are being matched.  Depending on traffic and the amounts in play it can take a while.

Is there any way to see the pending send transaction on MyMonero? That was one thing that was a bit frustrating... I couldn't see that there was anything that was trying to go through...

Go to BALANCES tab.  Select DEPOSITS & WITHDRAWALS.  scroll down to 'Looking for your Deposit & Withdrawal History?'.  Click.  View.

Transaction fee of 1.26 XMR for a 175 coins? That's a tad high at today's price in USD.

The most convenient way is with an explorer, e.g.  http://chainradar.com/xmr/txpool

I like this block explorer run by a long time community member, it even has a rich list!  http://moneroblocks.info/

Explore.MoneroWorld.com easily shows the mem pool.  http://107.172.25.35:8081/

Well, to be fair, I don't think anyone anticipated this fast of a rise, but I do agree - Next release is for next week, let's hope it's adjusted.

Transferring many inputs costs more but a fee of 1.26 is rather large.  The 175 coins must of consisted of many inputs.  The greater the mixin selected also increases the fee but I believe not by too much.

I took most of my coins out of 2 MyMonero accounts with each transfer consisting of 15 to 20 inputs resulting in a fee of ~0.15 for each of the 2 transfers and I thought that was a lot.  mixin was 6

I set mixin to 3. The client split the transaction into two separate ones. It prompted me of what it was doing and what the fee would be. I accepted it to do the deal. I did have a choice. I mean at the end of the day I profited substantially but yeah the rate is higher than a bank fee.

Monero users are strongly incented to use a single wallet over a long period of time while never drawing it down too low. You should try to avoid "scraping the bottom of the barrel" so to speak. Those small inputs that become a liability when ever you are trying to scrape them togather to form a large transaction are actually an asset when used in a wallet with more funds. They help you find efficient ways to make the change that you need to make a payment.

Think of it like coins irl. It's a pain in the ass when you are trying to pay for an entire meal with it but helpful when used in conjunction will bills to make proper change.

I want to sell some monero but the simplewallet is taking forever to refresh. Anyone know how to skip this refresh part or make it faster?

I rented a do.co box and had it all synced and ready to sell in 3 hours. This is a pretty good cryptocoin.

Hello,

Anyone know the procedure for import wallet ( 0.5.2.0 Version ) in the new version 0.9.4.0 of bitmonerod ?

in the era seed , key views , etc ... not existing ...

Do you remember which OS the wallet was created on? If so, download the binaries [here]here for that same OS. Extract the binaries, go to the extracted folder and open bitmonerod (the daemon). Bitmonerod first has to sync fully before you are able to restore your wallet. If bitmonerod is fully synced (you can check this by typing "status" into bitmonerod, it should be equal to the blockheight displayed on moneroblocks.info), place the wallet.bin, wallet.bin.address.txt, and wallet.bin.keys in the same folder as bitmonerod and simplewallet are located. Subsequently, open simplewallet and type in the wallet's name. Simplewallet will automatically update you to a new version and you should be able to see your coins (and transact with them).

Sidenote: if you need help with setting up bitmonerod and simplewallet, you can follow these guides:

https://github.com/monero-project/monero-site/blob/master/knowledge-base/user-guides/create_wallet.md

https://getmonero.org/knowledge-base/user-guides/simplewallet).

Is your anonymity solely based around Stealth Addresses with ring signatures and also creating tx's with empty vouts?

Or is there more to it and if so, what?

Because:

Untraceable payments
Unlinkable transactions
Blockchain analysis resistance

all fall under the ring signatures role.

I am looking for a direct answer, not a redirect to a whitepaper.

It seems that now most pools have 0.5 minimum payouts and others have 0.2 or 0.3.  I am on a pool that has 1.0 minimum payouts and it was set this way with the problem of fees in mind.  It is run by a trusted member of the community.

I think its something I would like explained to me

Thanks
