Hi,

I bought some XMR on an exchange and now I have obtained the wallet run on windows.
Maybe a stupid question but is it mining then?
I saw miner.exe (have to check the name of the file)

You should use 0.8.8.1 - it's newer. Backup you wallet, then delete the .bin wallet file (but not th .keys). Then open your wallet as usual (it'll be recreated from the keys) and sync it. If it continue to have errors dalete p2pstate.bin file from %AppData%/bitmonero and try again.

Hey, is there any way for the wallet to spit out its previous balance automatically before refreshing if it hasn't been refreshed in a while? Sometimes I go for a few weeks before opening a particular wallet .. and have a few of them with different balances. Any way to have it kick out the last balance and then refresh automatically like usual so I know I'm refreshing the right wallet?

'balance'
'refresh'

I think this is what you're asking for...

I'd like to open a debate. Xeon Phi.

What do you think of Xeon Phi performance-wise? Do you see them being adopted by professionnel miners, or even not-so-casual miners? Why? How? Which consequences on price, distribution...
As an added question: will Monero become successfull enough to generate an interest in FPGA? How would FPGA compete with Xeon Phi (or AMD competitor)?

kiyominer already ported cpuminer to the Xeon Phi (sha256 only) and performance wasn't mind-blowing for the cost. I think the Phi has its uses, but not for mining.

I also think that nothing can be more efficient than ASICs.

For BTC, FPGA are less efficient than ASIC, but arrived earlier. Could the same thing happen with Phi? Being less powerful than ASIC but earlier to come?

Thanks I have seen that reference

I know this is newblike but I am use to soloing with the .conf , I guess due to the gpuminer being a different build solomining with Gpu's cant be done ?

This is what I am currently running on pools but they seem to be terribad

Cpu miner .bat would be :

minerd -a cryptonight -o pool:port -u YOUR-WALLET-ADDRESS -p x -t #

Gpu miner .bat would be :

setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
NsGpuCNMiner.exe -o Pool:Port -p x -u ADDY

CPU instructions are OK. GPU, I can't say, I don't GPUmine.
