[XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency

Keep geting this problem when running bitmonerod. Application keeps showing red wording and disconnections.

Also dont have a c:\users\tom folder anywhere?

Any ideas anyone please. Running version 0.8.8.1

disconnects and the red errors are all normal/common - i get the same thing all the time. (That must have been the developer's build directory - c:\tom\whatever .... )

edit - once it fully syncs, they should become far less frequent.

Not working properly ?

The website is deactivated during the update. No stats available for few minutes.

The pool is still working. You are still connected, you get work and send shares.

will you fix it today or should we move the miners to another pool

We'll fix it asap. No need to move to an other pool.
Should be restarted in less than an hour.
Plus we are upgrading our server right now for increased capacity and speed.
Should be operational in less than 2 hours.

Shares are not lost during these operations. Everything is saved and backed up.

Same here - someone replied a few (hundred?) pages back that it was normal as well, something along the lines of peers flooding each other... sorry i can't remember, but yes, it's annoying but "normal" - this coin is still a WIP, as you can tell by the wallet....

We are getting DDOSed now...
Fuck that shit.

If you guys are getting DDOSed, how come my miners seems to be still working? I am not checking my rigs but checking the power output from my socket and has been the same since a few hours ago ?

You can still mine a bit during a DDOS attack but not everyone.
If the attack is strong enough, everyone get connection problems and if it last long enough we completely lose connection.


EDIT : We just ordered a fucking beefy server to discourage DDOSers.

If I get disconnect, I am assuming the GPU will stop working and draw less power from the wall right ? Or will it still "try to hash" despite not connecting and still drawing power and not doing anything ?

Can you explain this to me. Why is the unlocked balance lower after sending some coins? The total unlocked amount was at full prior to sending some coins, but after sending them some portion gets locked again. Huh?

There is a ton of competition, perhaps people are exchanging their DRK?

Marginal supply cost is rising due to difficulty.  I currently estimate the cost of mining 1 XMR at 0.0104 0.0109 BTC.  Supply drys up when price is lower (after all holdout coins mined or purchased at a lower price have been sold to holders).  As long as there is enough available demand to soak up the supply, this will be a (rising, with difficulty) support level.  When the demand fails, there will be a mismatch with difficulty and a chaotic correction will ensue.  That is the dangerous time.  Be careful out there.  After it is over, we will probably resume the rising price/difficulty trend again, assuming that infrastructure progress and/or elevated awareness resuscitate demand.

Or perhaps you were wondering why difficulty was so high.  That is because XMR is more desirable than any other coin, because it offers liquidity, security, privacy, fungibility, fairness, recognition and deflation in a single package.  No other crypto available today can offer this bundle of highly desirable features.  The weakest point is recognition, but the name helps a lot, and bitcoin has demonstrated how recognition will inevitably follow from superior technology.  Some of the other points have their problems as well, but the solutions are known, and progress is being actively made on all of them.  Other crypto tries to pretend they are not problems, or offers inferior solutions, often proven to be unworkable (e.g. coinjoin).

And yes, I sold all my DRK to buy XMR long ago.  With XMR you don't pay the Duffield tax, and you can achieve much better privacy.

finnaly i found a way to recover my stuck transation,
How to recover corrupt wallet and stuck transations that never reach blockchain:
1- backup wallet.bin, wallet.bin.address.txt and wallet.bin.keys to another folder
2- delete wallet.bin and leave the other 2 files
3- start cmd line and do simplewallet --wallet-file=wallet.bin
it will recover your wallet and refresh for start, all stuck transation will be back!!!!

You sent some coins, the total of which were high enough to be at least what you wanted to send, and the remainder is sent back to you as change. It will unlock again soon.

When the DDOSer who is probably a big miner realize that killing the pools is bad for XMR reputation and it might affect the price negatively, therefore his profit.
