I've just attempted to install XMR wallet on OSX. visited the (awfully formatted) page at http://monero.cc/getting-started/ to extract the OSX setup in a tar.bz2 archive

I'm left with some cryptic error in the command line about boost librarys

Meanwhile the BBR wallet was a simple one click to setup

I'm shellshocked people are paying 17x more per XMR than each BBR in this state. Hope XMR team can correct these shortcomings.

Is there anyone working on Phyical Monero's similar to Casascius Bitcoins or Lealana Litecoin?

I could see a project like this really solidifying our position in the altcoin race (if done well)

sidenote: XMR is gunning for .0035 and I've never seen the ask side of the orderbook so thin! Cool

I think casascius and lealana had to stop loading their physical coins with crypto over legal issues.

I always thought of physical cryptocoins as quite an ironical gimmick, do you think there would be much demand for them?

Thinking about how one could actually implement the idea; the physical coin itself is just a design issue and I imagine a short run could be 3D printed, then in order to make it redeemable you could have a peel off label which revealed a 24 word electrum seed you could then restore a wallet from. Potentially that label could have the wallet view key printed on it, allowing the value to be confirmed.

Maybe if there is interest I will do a bit of research into production costs Smiley

Boost is merely statically compiled in to the Boolberry GUI (clearly a necessary step with any accessible UI). We specifically chose not to do that for the 0.8.8 release. If you are struggling with the high barrier to entry feel free to PM me and I'll walk you through installing Boost, ok?

I thought maybe it might of been cause I used punctuation in my password but when I look to change it the "Change wallet passphrase.." option is greyed out.

I'd be interested

So there will never be a "private key" with CN only electrum seeds?

What do you guys think about BitcoinDark? Competition for Monero or just another shitcoin?

I consider all coins that switch to PoS after a brief PoW phase to be shitcoins. This is my personal opinion, not speaking on behalf of the Monero team (in fact I never am unless stated otherwise).

I wholeheartedly concur, after being burnt by many such-branded "Shit-Coins" - as of now, there are only 2 coins for me - BTC & XMR.

Thanks smooth, your presence here is appreciated! Cheesy

THROW EXCEPTION: error::invalid_password

I thought maybe it might of been cause I used punctuation in my password but when I look to change it the "Change wallet passphrase.." option is greyed out.

Should really ask this in the Client .Net thread but I can provide answers as they are kind of daemon/wallet related anyway Smiley

The stuck tx may clear itself automatically after another 24hrs, if it doesnt then its probably because your wallet (Monero Client uses simplewallet behind the gui) has got itself mixed up. Close MoneroClient, then in the Resources/Software folder delete "poolstate.bin", and in  the WalletData folder delete the wallet.bin file (make sure you create a backup first). When you run MoneroClient again it will resync the wallet and should clear up the stuck tx.

Dont worry about that "invalid password" error in the log either, its a quirk of simplewallet, not you doing anything wrong.

It's here guys! First XMR/Monero gambling site is FairProof. Looks pretty legit, I will be trying and reviewing it tonight.

Use my referral link and I'll donate all proceeds to Dev fund.

fairproof.com/qxc

Good luck!

(Also started a thread to discuss:  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=746591.msg8438281#msg8438281)

It worked! LOL. I lost twice so i gave up. I'm no good at gambling, but thanks for the tip:

Thanks for reply, I'll wait another 24hrs and then try what you said and if it doesn't work I'll go over to the Client .Net thread.

I'm not sure how true this is, it seems like coinbase is doing basic level bitcoin transaction tracking. This is perhaps a real world example of how Monero is superior to Bitcoin.

Seems XMR team has pre-planned all these things though and they aren't mistakes, omissions or weaknesses., they are intentional design decisions, to be addressed at a later date. my mistake.

I installed it through brew and sent coins from linux wallet on vm. All successful. thanks for the offer of support though.
