What a nice thread this is, actually. I like it. snip After the recent dip, you DON'T want to test it so much, believe me...

Not sure why but the blockchain file downloaded from PeerExplorer doesn't work anymore. I replaced the nxt.h2.db file in nxt_db (full path was actually C:\Users\Bizmark13\AppData\Local\Nxt Wallet\nxt\nxt_db) with the version in the downloaded zip file and instead of opening like usual, the NXT wallet shows a "NRS server has exited" and "Database shutdown completed" error and then shuts down. Tried it both with and without the included nxt.lock file as well as replacing the whole nxt_db folder with the downloaded version but nope.
Oh well. It looks like I'll have to download the blockchain via the client then. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long.

-make sure you have the correct version - make sure the db is in the same file structure (nxt-default.properties will tell you) - make sure properties points to the file (again) I've never tried this service or on windows, but I've heard this works somehow.

What version of client are you running?

Nxt is superior blockchain tech, that's what I want, that's what I'm "testing" if anything. TBH, I don't know how to test price if that's what you're talking.

If you have just upgraded to 1.4 .16, you have to delete the 'lib' folder too. But it sounds like you might be using the installer version of Nxt rather than NRS?

Thanks for the responses. It turns out I was running the wrong version!! I was running the installer version when I should have been using the NRS. I just downloaded the NRS and it seems to be working now and the blockchain file I downloaded is now recognized although strangely, 1.4.16 didn't work once the lib folder was deleted so I kept it. The NRS doesn't slow down my computer as much as the installer version too which is good to see although I'm not sure why this is the case. EDIT: I decided to switch to version 1.4.15 of the NRS instead but everything else is still the same.

Right, when it was said to "delete the lib folder" it means the lib folder of your current version not the new version. I always do this. I get the updated version. I delete all the files/folders in my Nxt folder except for the Nxt_db folder, then I copy the new version into the Nxt folder. This way if files are delete/changed I am guaranteed to be running all the newest files.

What kind of tech requires this kind of pre-diluvian actions? Come on!

That's why there is an installer. https://nxtforum.org/alternative-clients/(windows)-nrs-installerIt's not official yet because it need lot of testing done. But it shouldn't take long

Meh....I like the little black window. But it totally freaks out some non-nerd people, so it has to be kicked out if we want user-friendly NXT I think the mainstream now makes the association of command line = evil hackerz automatically.
