There was a red dialog box in my NXT wallet that said something along the lines of "You are most likely on a fork you forged the last 10 blocks..." Then it disappeared.... What do I need to do to fix this issue?

It might have fixed itself. Look at the last block in your wallet and compare it to https://nxtblocks.info/#section/blockexplorer_blocks. If your last block is the same as the explorer you are fine.

If not, stop the NRS, delete the _db folder, and restart NRS. It will have to re-download the block chain.

Are you on at least 1.2.7?

Could NXT poker be marketed as the most fairest poker site?

In terms of

1. Random generator
2. Cheating by other players or the site is not possible

probably best value/cheapest(less/zero fees) aswell because the house wouldnt have big costs..

IBM was interested in the blockchain technology for this reason, IIRC.  Decentralizing servers and decentralizing programming can be a cost saver in multiple aspects.

Cheating and sites being rigged are non issues this day in age for online poker.

NXTpokers competitive advantages would be:

ability to tap into any market in the world
no tax on winnings
no max/min on deposits or withdrawals
cheaper rake on games
potentially larger player pools
games offered dictated by the players themselves

kind of like a for us by us poker platform. we decide.

You could start at PokerStrategy.com. They have tons of starting and pro articles, videos. But don't go to far down the rabbit hole of theory, because you will spend too much time. But you have to get some basics down first. Balance this theory with playing micro stakes on any of the big sites. Try to breakeven at for a starting goal, altough, if you learn the basics, that won't be hard  Smiley

I disagree. Getting to breakeven at microstakes from starting out at poker is difficult. Rake is a killer.

Playing poker like a pro takes a long time and lots of work. (Any lessons tutorials on playing chess like a grandmaster, any lessons/tutorials on playing piano like a master?)

Rake is a killer but you won't find newbie mistakes on such a level anywhere but micro.

He could start with the micro Guide (by Verneer, searchable on torrents), which is comprehensive to see what you're going to be dealing with. But for an absolute beginner that will probably be overwhelming.

I should add that valamrg is correct with his points. It's not a walk in the park, even on micros. You have to put in long hours of studying and even more playing. Poker in 2014 is quite different than it was even a few years back.

I'm not sure the best resource, depends on what type of game he decides to concentrate on (e.g. SNG/MTT/Cash). There's no cheat sheet for becoming good at poker, it takes thousands of hours of playing and learning. My best advice is just learn the rules and play the lowest stakes or play money at various games, just have fun expect to win some, lose some but not be a profitable player. If he finds he loves the game, then is the time to start thinking about trying to become good.
