Some guys tried to do this before and some newcomers come from time to time. They know all about it, and I think we could use them as experts in the NODENET security issue, but unfortunately they never leave contacts  Smiley

I'm not completely clear on what you are saying. Are you saying they tried and failed or tried and succeeded? also do you just know from the network logs or did they contact you and tell you?

I spamed txs myself. No effect to the network.

Also saw other guy who sent 300 transactions in one block. Same result.

if the outer nodes could simply become leading nodes.
So the key point may be the algo of how leading nodes are chosen?  Roll Eyes
If you run the client on Linux through the key (example: forever start index.js -key:mainpeer) then you may be the main peer
What exactly i need to place as "mainpeer" now? Passphrase to account with >500k NODE or what? Huh
We are not yet ready to disclose algorithms but I can responsibly say that it will be technologically impossible to ddos main peers in NODE NET - however as well as usual peers btw Smiley
Oh, nice. Built in ddos protection.  Cool But i think it may protect only from ddos  from inside NODE network but not general ddos Wink

The earlier NODE clients had no anti-spam features.  You were able to download any script or macro creator and send out unlimited transactions from a single open client.  A lot of people were doing it thinking it would improve their PoA.

Bitcoin only has 80.000 to 100.000 transactions in a day and it's possible NODE may have had more transactions during this PoA spam.

We are regularly checking the stability of NodeNet and simulating different situations and problems, but sometimes some mysterious guys are trying to "help" us.

As I said, we have the tools to monitor NodeNet activity, and I can say that at the present stage of beta Network has enough tools to protect itself.

However, our task is to find the weaknesses in our defense, to check it for errors, stability, PoA algorithms etc. Node is still youngster so before going out into the Big World, we should be strong.

So we welcome all the "extra testers" and invite them to work harder and to be creative  Smiley

I don't know what you mean by "external attacks" in the case of a distributed network of our size with a clear limitation of requests & response packets, but generally speaking, ddos is impossible without overflowing of the bandwidth. I have no idea how you can overflow it at our architecture, but you need to try!  Smiley If you succeed all the Node Community will be grateful to you in advance  Smiley
