Although I agree that an up to date ANN is very important I also think that many people here never tried to have a family and program such a big software. And additionally the devs have the project nodepay that requires a lot of researching and checking on laws etc..
This is a huge amount of work and actually the development of NODE is not that slow if you keep all these things in mind.
Sadly many people just hope to get pump and dump coins, immediate money and an update every day (but not a new client of course because this is work for everyone^^) and every problem that occurs are pointed to the devs' incompetence, as if they never do something wrong. Especially in a project like NODE I expect some problems here and there. It is not another copy and paste coin like 95% of the crypto-coins are.
I agree that they are a bit unorganized and could use some help there but that does not make their effort and good work smaller and does not leave them incompetent.

@Devs: Keep up the good work and maybe take some help to keep things organized so you do not have to think about an up to date ANN and so on.

QFT, All they need is a person to do liaison and marketing duties.

Maybe the devs should mention, what they would like to outsource?
Too bad that koop4u and nodeclub are having no time, because i think they did a very good job.

Question: Will node have it's own exchange eventually kind of like nxt did with dgex?

Right now we have the issues with BTER keeping a lot of people's btc and node hostage, so having an extra option for exchange would be great for node.

I for one will stop using BTER and would like more options, these "hacks" are not building confidence with people.

I think we need to appoint a new liaison between the developers and the rest of us to move things forward from here. Ideally someone whose family doesn't demand their attention every waking second for several months at a time.

I've messaged a few other exchanges but heard nothing back.

Have they been in touch with anyone about taking on the task? Perhaps some type of committee needs to be formed. Compared to other coins things are awfully quiet and fragmented and there's a definite divide between the developers and the users.

No.
@Therealsilk always delivers what he says but the sad thing is that devs are not good in communication and marketing. This coin holds a great future but without marketing things will move slowly.

Well I'm game to help out, but I'm crap at marketing. We need some response from the developers about willingness to hand that side of things over before moving forward though.

Same here, I do what I can with what I know and have.

At the moment though, the BTER situation needs to come to a stable conclusion. This whole hacking scandal has thrown a lot of alts off track, it's not just node.

Indeed, but things like correcting the logos mixed up on the download page are the work of seconds and it improves perception.

In addition there are multiple spelling and grammar mistakes on the nodecoin website.

I understand it's a second language, but I could clean and punch it up within a couple of hours. We need the cooperation of the person who uploads the site though.

I spotted that too.  It looks like a good starting point for publicity//marketing.

So here's my thoughts on the current status of node, you don't have to agree with me:

The situation with BTER is affecting node, so at the moment we have to hang on until this issue has been solved and the BTC/NODE coins return back to their owners.

Further expansion of marketing or other social promotion cannot happen until we are sure that node is in a stable position.

Once the BTER situation is diffused, then we as a community can start a donation fund for marketing through one of the many social marketing platforms out there.

Sites such as promoplugs.com do not have a high fee, so we can skip eating out for one day and using that money towards promotion. After all, it is our investments here that we need to protect and work for so node can be succesful.

The things that can be taken care of at the moment are spelling mistakes, missing links, fixing dead/misdirecting links, etc.

Downloaded the client and trying to Download the Blockchain since 3 days. It seems stuck at 8760.
What is the current Block Height? How long does the download take? It seems to be going really slow.

Wanted to avoid this trouble but I have some nodes on BTER and how the things are I have to save them once they open withdraw or sell them. I prefer saveing pregiven the client works fine.

try restarting the client
We are all waiting for a decision from BTER
