Rand Paul attacked by mainstream media: liberals are running scaredBy Eric Bolling
Liberals are worried…. (and they should be). You can smell it in the air, the conservative wave is around the corner.
The liberal media and the Democratic National Committee are up in arms against several of the GOP's top candidates.
Monday, a Washington Post hatchet piece attacked the leading Liberty Conservative in politics: Kentucky Senator Rand Paul.
To my conservative friends, who believe every bad story written, even about their own allies, please think twice and proceed with caution.
Most of us know that the appearance of conservative hit pieces escalates as the left perceives the threat level. It appears, the threat level is flashing big and red.
Conservatives like Rand Paul are serious. They are getting the message across, that conservative and libertarian ideas are a threat to the Big Government left.

Rand Paul Praises the Free State ProjectRand Paul recently spent a couple days in New Hampshire, attending and speaking at various events. He was the headliner at the New Hampshire Republican Party Unity Breakfast, a rally at the largest university in the state, and a Generation Opportunity event in Manchester. At the GenOpp event, Rand was asked about the Free State Project. Needless to say, Rand’s answer was friendly. He associated the Free State Project with freedom and liberty, saying that was a good thing. The room cheered his answer. Then he made a joke about maybe some free staters being in the room. Rand’s father, Ron Paul, endorsed the Free State Project and event spoke at events put on by the Free State Project. Rand Paul speaks about the Free State Project as Evan Feinberg, the Generation Opportunity President, scans the excited crowd. A couple days after Rand left New Hampshire, a new CNN poll about the 2016 New Hampshire Republican Primary came out. The poll shows Rand leading his nearest Republican competitor by 50%. He leads the Republican field with Independents by over 100%. Rand also leads the field with conservatives and people that attended college. Rand Paul: 'We Need to Stay the Heck Out of Their Civil War'Calling the president’s plan to confront ISIS “absurd,” Republican Sen. Rand Paul on Thursday blasted the proposal to arm and train Syrian rebels in the fight against the Islamic terror group.
“It's messy,” he said in a passionate 45-minute speech on the Senate floor. “It's unclear. There are bad people on both sides. We need to stay the heck out of their civil war.”
Paul also strongly objected to the idea that the Senate will not hold a separate vote on the authorization to arm the rebels. That measure has been combined with a larger short-term spending bill meant to prevent a government shutdown.
“Sending arms to so-called moderate rebels in Syria is a fool's errand and will only make ISIS stronger," said the Kentucky Republican. "America should only go to war to win. We shouldn't go to war sort-of-meandering our way through a spending bill." More... http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/first-read/rand-paul-we-need-stay-heck-out-their-civil-war-n206556

Rand Paul: 'Constitution Requires' Congressional Authorization for Obama to Attack ISIS
Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) said in a statement Tuesday that he supports military actions against ISIS—like the airstrikes President Obama just launched—but that the Constitution requires Obama to obtain congressional approval for such action.
"I support military action against ISIS but continue to believe the Constitution requires the President to receive Congressional authorization," Paul said in a statement provided to Breitbart News.
President Obama did not seek congressional authorization for the strikes, which launched late Monday evening, a fact especially significant since he had sought -- and obtained -- authorization to arm Syrian rebels. ... Late Monday evening, Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI)—a libertarian-leaning conservative congressman—criticized President Obama for not seeking congressional authorization for these strikes and congressional leaders like Speaker John Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid for not fighting for Obama to seek congressional authorization.
“It's irresponsible & immoral that instead of debating & voting on war, congressional leaders chose to recess Congress for nearly two months,” Amash said via Twitter. ... Rand Paul opens Bay Area office to reach Silicon ValleyAhead of what seems to be an increasingly likely presidential run, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will soon open an office in the San Francisco Bay Area, he said.
The Kentucky senator told The San Francisco Chronicle in an interview on Saturday that his team was “in the process of” opening the office, which would be a way to stay in touch with many of Paul's wealthy and libertarian-minded potential supporters in Silicon Valley.
"There's a lot of smart people in Silicon Valley, and we want to use their brains to figure out how to win,” he told the newspaper.
"Well, for the party, winning nationally," he added to clarify what, specifically, he wanted to win. "My goal for the past year has been to try to widen the party message and make the party big enough to win nationally."
Paul has come to the region “fairly often,” he added and has made no secret that he has drawn support from some in Silicon Valley, where his criticism of surveillance and big government has resounded.

The Revenge of Rand Paul
The Senator has fought to go mainstream with the ideology that he shares with his father. How far can that strategy take him?
BY RYAN LIZZA
At 8 A.M. on a Friday in late July, Senator Rand Paul, of Kentucky, stood before a predominantly African-American audience of about a hundred at an Urban League conference in Cincinnati. An ophthalmologist before he was a senator, Paul has spent much of his career in surgical scrubs, but he was dressed nattily, in a charcoal suit and a red rep tie. His typically unkempt curls, which give him the look of a philosophy student lost in thought, were restrained with the help of a hair product. His aides had been promoting the talk for weeks, as part of a yearlong effort to reintroduce himself to political constituencies—on both the left and the right—that may have reason to distrust him. In the next few months, he is planning to deliver a major speech on foreign policy; like race, it is an area in which Paul has encountered strident opposition.
...
In some respects, Paul is to Republicans in 2014 what Barack Obama was to Democrats in 2006: the Party’s most prized fund-raiser and its most discussed senator, willing to express opinions unpopular within his party, and capable of energizing younger voters. The Republican National Committee, which in 2008 refused to allow his father, Ron Paul, to speak at its Convention, recently solicited donations by offering supporters a chance to have lunch with Rand Paul. The only potential obstacle to a Paul Presidential candidacy in 2016 is his wife, Kelley. Douglas Stafford, Paul’s top political adviser, said, “Unless Kelley says no, he’s running.” Steve Munisteri, the chairman of the Republican Party of Texas, told me this summer, “He is objectively one of the three most likely people to get the nomination.”

Rand Paul Rallies With 400 N. Carolina Pastors, Discusses Why He's Pro LifeGREENSBORO, North Carolina — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) rallied 400 North Carolina pastors Tuesday evening, explaining to them why he is pro-life—an issue that, given Paul’s libertarian leanings, could be a point of attack from other conservative candidates in his likely 2016 presidential campaign. While opening his remarks, Paul joked a bit about the awkwardness that comes with a libertarian-leaning Republican like himself being featured at a conservative Christian pastors’ event.
“People say, ‘gosh what are you doing there? What are you doing talking to a bunch of ministers? You’re a libertarian,’” Paul said. “I tell them, ‘look, I’m libertarian-ish.’ And people say, ‘well what’s that mean? Is that consistent with Christianity? Is that consistent with right and wrong?’ I think they don’t quite get it. The whole thing about sort of the people who believe in this libertarian thing is that it’s non-aggression. It isn’t religiously based, but many of us are religious. But it’s based on non-aggression. And people just say, ‘you believe in everybody doing whatever they want, license, libertine, that’s what you’re all about.’ And I say, ‘no, that’s not me at all.’”
The event at the Sheraton convention center in Greensboro brought together 400-plus politically conservative pastors from all across the state, and was hosted by the American Renewal Project. Breitbart News was the only media outlet allowed inside the closed press event during Paul’s speech, and has an exclusive look at what he talked about with the pastors.
“It’s really all about defining when life begins,” Paul said about the pro-life movement. More... http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/10/02/Exclusive-Rand-Paul-Rallies-With-400-North-Carolina-Pastors-Discusses-Why-He-s-Pro-Life

Tech exec to host fundraiser with Rand PaulFormer Oracle CEO Larry Ellison is hosting a major fundraiser for the Republican Party featuring Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) next week.
The Silicon Valley billionaire who surprisingly stepped down from the software giant last month will host the event for the National Republican Senatorial Committee at his Woodside, Calif., mansion on Oct. 8, according to an invitation obtained by BuzzFeed.
Tickets start at $1,500 per person, but run up to $32,400 for the handful of hosts. Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) and John Thune (R-S.D.) will also be on hand, as will Rep. Steve Daines (R-Mont.), who is running for a Senate seat.
Paul is eyeing a possible presidential run in 2016 and has become a frequent visitor to Silicon Valley in recent months, where his libertarian message has won him a number of supporters, despite the region's long history as a hotbed of liberal politics. http://thehill.com/policy/technology/219697-tech-exec-to-host-fundraiser-with-rand-paul

^Pretty much a name recognition poll at this point. Rand Paul To Prospective 2016 Field: If You Support Common Core, You Will Lose GOP PrimaryGREENVILLE, North Carolina — Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) has a harsh message for former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and any other potential 2016 GOP presidential candidates: Support Common Core? You won’t win the presidential primary.
“I don’t see Common Core being—if you’re for Common Core and you’re for a national curriculum, I don’t see it being a winning message in a Republican primary,” Paul said in an interview backstage at an event where he endorsed Rep. Walter Jones (R-NC) for reelection. “If there’s a Republican candidate out there—let’s just say there’s a hypothetical one that’s for Common Core. I’m saying that that hypothetical candidate that’s for Common Core probably doesn’t have much chance of winning in a Republican primary.”
Paul did not name Jeb Bush personally, but the former Florida governor and potential 2016 candidate has been an outspoken advocate for Common Core national educational standards. Bush was here in North Carolina on the other side of the state in late September to endorse the state House Speaker Thom Tillis’ U.S. Senate bid against incumbent Democrat Sen. Kay Hagan (D-NC), during which Tillis sought to distance himself from Bush’s views on both immigration and Common Core.
During the event where he endorsed Tillis, Bush pushed Common Core and immigration—two things from which Tillis distanced himself from Bush.
... http://www.breitbart.com/Big-Government/2014/10/06/Exclusive-Rand-Paul-To-Prospective-2016-Field-If-You-Support-Common-Core-You-Will-Lose-GOP-PrimaryI really like when Rand acts like the party boss and makes absolute statements like saying certain things are off limits from here on out. Great strategy to stand strong on the issues and let the status quo hang itself. He's done the same to Hillary on a number of things in the past.

Rand At Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit (10-8-14 in San Francisco)Journalistic eminence Bob Woodward took the stage at the Vanity Fair New Establishment Summit today to interview two Silicon Valley legends, Eric Schmidt and John Doerr, and one Valley political favorite (though he hails from Kentucky), Rand Paul.
Onstage at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, the debate, titled “Why Can’t Tech Save Politics,” ranged from education to health care to immigration reform. It was just one of 11 sessions packed with boldfaced names at the inaugural New Establishment Summit celebrating the “Age of Innovation,” and no one on the surprisingly friction-free panel really disagreed on much — try as Woodward did to prod them.
A fast-forward through the onstage conversation, which might serve as a primer of Silicon Valley political opinions:
Rand Paul, U.S. Republican senator from Kentucky, on student-teacher ratios: “I think we should go a million to one! Ten million to one!”
Eric Schmidt, the executive chairman of Google, seemed to agree with this, but added: “Gamify the lessons. … As jobs get automated away, the only thing we can do is have smarter people.”
The panel agreed that we need more education entrepreneurs, and less regulation and less centralized authority around schools.
Paul called out the Internet as a good model: “No one’s in charge of the Internet, and look how good the Internet’s going.” More... http://recode.net/2014/10/08/eric-schmidt-rand-paul-john-doerr-and-bob-woodward-agreeing-on-things/Video... http://www.vanityfair.com/online/daily/2014/10/rand-paul-education-government-in-the-wayBTW, this is a great venue for him to be speaking at especially in the company of such Silicon Valley top dogs as Schmidt and Doerr. Can you comprehend if Rand tilts Silicon Valley money away from mostly democrats and towards his personified makeover of the GOP, with him at the helm? Game time!!

Sen. Paul Holds Listening Session in Ferguson
Oct 10, 2014
WASHINGTON, D.C. - TODAY, Sen. Rand Paul visited Ferguson, Missouri to attend a listening session with local leaders in the wake of the civil unrest over the past two months. The NAACP, the Urban League and several local business and church leaders participated in the event. The discussion centered around Sen. Paul's belief that the underlying problem in Ferguson-and many other troubled areas of our country-is a broken criminal justice system that unfairly targets minorities.
"I came to Ferguson today to listen to leaders in the community and to learn more about how we can fix the problems of criminal injustice together," Sen. Paul said.
"Senator Paul's decision to meet with the St. Louis county NAACP and local leadership in Ferguson speaks volumes about the NAACP's strength and influence in the civil rights community. Local leadership was encouraged by his decision to call a meeting with us to have a round table discussion and discuss common sense solutions. We were honored to have an informative discussion about the Senator regarding ways that he can help to assist our civil rights agenda in Washington and help to end police militarization," said John Gaskin III, spokesman for St. Louis County NAACP
Senator Paul has previously noted that anyone who thinks that race does not still, even if inadvertently, skew the application of criminal justice in this country is just not paying close enough attention. He has often noted that prisons are full of men and women of color who are serving inappropriately long and harsh sentences for non-violent, youthful mistakes.
"Given the over-militarization of our law enforcement and the racial disparities in our criminal justice system, it is impossible for minority communities not to feel like their government is particularly targeting them, " noted Senior Advisor, Doug Stafford. "Senator Paul will continue to work to fix the broken system and in the meantime, let us continue to pray for the people of Ferguson, citizens, police and officials alike."
Senator Paul has introduced six pieces of federal legislation that reforms the federal criminal justice system and addresses the underlying economic reasons for high crime areas:
• Justice Safety Valve Act - S.619 - The bill introduced on March 20, 2013, and cosponsored by Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) would allow a federal judge to depart from mandatory minimum sentences under certain circumstances. • Economic Freedom Zones Act - S.1852 - The bill, introduced on December 18, 2013, would provide for the establishment of free market enterprise zones in economically distressed areas. • Civil Rights Voting Restoration Act - S.2550 - The bill, introduced on June 26, 2014, and cosponsored by Sen. Maj. Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) would restore the voting rights for every non-violent offender in federal elections upon release. • REDEEM Act - S.2567 - The bill, introduced on July 8, 2014, and cosponsored by Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) would create a judicial process for adults to seal non-violent records on the federal level and an automatic process to expunge records for non-violent juveniles. • FAIR Act - S.2644 --- The bill, introduced on July 23, 2014, raised the standard for the federal government to seize property in criminal investigations to raise the standard to clear and convincing evidence as a means to protect individuals found not guilty of crime. • RESET Act - S.2657 - The bill, introduced on July 24, 2014, would reclassify simple possession drug crimes of small amounts as misdemeanors from felonies and eliminates the distinction between crack and powder cocaine for sentencing purposes because of the unfair outcomes of the distinction. http://www.paul.senate.gov/?p=press_release&id=1228Also: http://www.politico.com/story/2014/10/rand-paul-meets-with-black-leaders-in-ferguson-111772.htmlhttp://time.com/3490123/rand-paul-ferguson/

A Man Coming Over The Hill, Singing
In the Carolinas, Rand Paul confronts a new war in the Middle East — and the voters who rejected his father.
by David Weigel
Rand Paul usually starts with a joke; it relieves the tension that’s never there. On Tuesday, Sept. 30, the junior Senator from Kentucky is running a little late, but a University of South Carolina lecture room is already overfull, stragglers fighting for space behind a row of TV cameras. A few college Democrats are in the room, but as listeners, not hecklers.
Most of the students actually sound like Brett Harris, a sophomore studying political science, who had showed up an hour early to win a front-row center seat. “I’d have camped out on the lawn if I’d had to,” he says, clutching a red-and-white STAND WITH RAND sign to his matching STAND WITH RAND T-shirt. “Of course I would! It’s Rand Paul!”
Harris starts to explain his affinity for Paul, and how right he’s been about foreign policy, when the man himself arrives; jeans and battered cowboy boots, no jacket. This will be his uniform for two days of speeches and schmoozing and selfies, across South Carolina and North Carolina, in front of everyone from military veterans to pastors to reporters to donors to students. The students would come first.
“Last time I was here, I was at a barbecue,” says Paul. “The guy in front of me was loading up two plates of barbecue. I said, ‘You’re not gonna live long eating like that!’ He said, ‘My granddad lived to be 105.’ I said, ‘He didn’t live to 105 by eating like that.’ He said, ‘No, my granddad lived to be 105 by minding his own business.’”
The joke is as fresh as the last grease scrapings from an outdoor smoker. Two years ago, Paul liked to deliver it before introducing his father, Rep. Ron Paul, to the Republican voters tasked with picking a presidential nominee. His father badly lost the South Carolina primary both times he ran, which was taken as evidence that antiwar libertarianism had no place in the heartland of the modern Republican party. Rand Paul is in the state to explain what these voters missed. His sort of politics should be popular—in fact, isn’t it popular already?
... “There was a painter named Robert Henri,” Paul says, “and he said, ‘Paint like a man coming over the hill singing.’ I think if we proclaim our message like a man coming over the hill singing, then we can be the dominant party.” Read the full thing for understanding what Rand has been up to in raising support in SC/NC when his father flat-out, couldn't... http://www.bloomberg.com/politics/features/2014-10-11/a-man-coming-over-the-hill-singing

Rand Paul hits NIH funding claims at Virginia rally: ‘Have you seen what the NIH spends money on?’ASHLAND, Va.- Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) used an appearance for Virginia congressional candidates Wednesday to slam the National Institutes of Health's claim that funding cuts had limited their ability to fight the Ebola virus.
"We have people who go blithely on TV and say 'we don't have enough money to study Ebola.' Have you seen what the NIH spends money on?" Paul said at a rally for Republican Senate candidate Ed Gillespie and House candidate Dave Brat. "Nine hundred and thirty-nine thousand dollars spent to discover whether or not male fruit flies would like to consort with younger female fruit flies, $117,000 spent to determine that most monkeys are right-handed and like to throw poop with their right hand apparently."
He also listed $2.4 million for "origami condoms" as an example of wasteful spending.
"And then they say they don't have enough money. Their budget was $17 billion in the year 2000, it's now $30 billion, so when they say they don't have enough money or their have been cuts, look at the bottom line," he said. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/post-politics/wp/2014/10/15/rand-paul-hits-nih-funding-claims-at-virginia-rally-have-you-seen-what-the-nih-spends-money-on/

Rand Paul defends Houston pastors under attack“No minister, anywhere, should ever have to submit a sermon to a government censor.” – Senator Rand Paul
Only minutes ago, Senator Rand Paul spoke up for the Houston pastors who have become the latest target in the city government’s ongoing war against its own churches. Messaging on Twitter, Senator Paul declared, “The First Amendment doesn’t exist to keep religion out of government. It exists to keep government out of religion.” Said Paul, “I stand with the pastors and churches in Houston against government interference and harassment.”
Houston city attorneys, under the direction of Mayor Annise Parker, have now subpoenaed sermons preached by selected pastors whom they believe are opposed to the city’s new agenda.
Here is a quick review of the unfolding drama in Houston.
... More... http://dougwead.wordpress.com/2014/10/15/rand-paul-defends-targeted-houston-pastors/If someone isn't aware of what's going on in Houston, this is what some elements of the radical LGBTQ crowd is about and now is on full display for all people to judge. Lefty degenerates are usually the first ones to want to gut free speech.

Rand Paul, Chris Christie Laid Out Plans for Black Voters at Penthouse Forum
David Freedlander 10.17.14
At a Fifth Avenue event with America’s richest Republicans, the 2016 front-runners both told donors why they’re the man who can win minority voters.
Earlier this month, nearly a hundred of the wealthiest Republicans in the country gathered at the home of Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets and an heir to the Johnson & Johnson pharmaceutical family, for a GOP fundraiser. The crowd was nearly all white, and older, and male (“There was one Native American guy there, I think,” said one attendee) and sat at two long tables in overlooking Fifth Avenue in Manhattan in the $75 million duplex’s drawing room.
A number of top would-be contenders to the GOP presidential nomination, including Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, and even Mitt Romney, were there to make their pitch to the assembled masters of the universe. So were two of the early polling leaders of the long presidential contest—Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey and Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky.
And what both Paul and Christie spoke about, according to sources in the room, was how popular they were among those who are as far away from Fifth Avenue drawing rooms as you can get: poor, black, and Hispanic voters who, when they vote at all, almost reflexively vote Democratic.
Telling some of the wealthiest Americans to give you money because of how well-loved you are by some of the nation’s poorest people struck some of those in attendance for its incongruity; but equally interesting was how Christie and Paul seemed to be boxing one another out over who is best able to carry the Republican banner into America’s inner cities.
