How is it pertinent to start mining at all? For example there is no sense to mine BTC nowadays

Mining this coin on my GPU rigs has been nothing but extra money. Putting otherwise unused CPU's to work is a great thing Smiley

precise, is just that , system draws more power.. I have a 6 core AMD processor (as a matter of fact it would be nice to tabulate hash power for each CPU at some point, make a table, just like it is done for GPU's) 5 core I use for QCN and one core goes to GPU , works great..

had to however split power line in two because of extra Watts needed., and system heats up a bit more.. but yes I am utilizing 100% of what I got.. and it feels kind of good.. nothing is idle.. and it is all making money

Yeah, like most CN coins now QNC is lucky to be one of the first, while MRO still leads in innovations, this coin has enough distinctions to keep in the game.
Such as? What are these distinctions you chose not to mention?
Thanks

All of which means the coin will probably die. No one can give any reason to buy the coin, miners are selling to fools who buy. I've seen it many times before.

The only evidence we have here is that this is a coin with no future, and miners are happy to mine and dump.

Unless someone has a case to make?

It has two minute blocks and very slow reward schedule.

are you by any chance from a competing coin ?  Cool

o no Sir, every single coin I make I save, no trading for me , I am for a long haul. all I did is describe what many of us do.. mine GPU and CPU coins together... (this will only increase as people will discover this coin and you will see nice spike in volume) I have a positive outlook on the future you do not.. but thats why there is a market place, thanks for the comment!

It will be probably 5 to 10 years before I even consider selling 1/2 of QNC coin (not even whole coin) (the same applies with my portfolio in general) short term is for intra day trading.. this has less appeal to me

No Im not Smiley

But the point is that no one, yourself included, has been able to articulate the reason or reasons why this coin is any good.
Do you like this coin?
For what reason?

sorry, its been a long day Today... so why do I like it.. let me be very honest first , I have not read (and I should) cryptonight white paper (just to school myself on the underlying algo) so it is tough for me to know if for example GPU or fPGA or ASIC hardware will eventually mine this..

But on the principle.. is that right now, as of now, eeeeeryone can mine this.. globally around the world and interface is quite simple to anyone that remotely touched a command line.. and I suspect there is great deal of people (20 years ago was less) but not Today..

And there is this *emission curve* on which I wrote before and will quote again because this is what I really like.. it is not about the coin.. its about possibility of having QNC in the hands of many many people...

....

QCN achieves smooth and gradual block reward decrease, believe but not certain Satoshi made original decision based on some calculation with Moore's law (increase in hardware advances) our "competition" block rewards decrease substantially faster, what it means people will pile up coins there much much faster and later whoever comes later will fight an uphill battle (no matter how powerful and how many CPU's) in this way QCN achieves steady and wide distribution with approx 18 million coins, so thats good for commerce later (more equal distribution and prevention of clustering of coins in hands of the few..)

our "competition" is clustering coins as we speak, possible Today with taking over CPU data center (this actually happened here in the States multiple times with the primecoin)  although not yet as it would reflect in their difficulty level which is not high enough (yet)

and finally, coins will need to start being actually used! or nothing will help.
. hence accent of distribution and commerce, without it.. they will collect dust
in  wallets.. this problem is common to the whole landscape of cryptocoins.. be
lieve Quazar will be used and this is very attractive

(used as in buy/sell of goods and service and not just intra-day trading, our "competition" emission is intra day friendly, pile up pump then sell massive quantity (when that almost exponential curve ends and rewards and difficulty is high, price is high. then sell.. this is NOT commerce.. and I dont like it

...

steady and relentless ~ 100 or so miners are pounding QCN at the difficulty level: 36,285,224 (not so long ago it was 150,000,000 and mining for many came down to 1 coin a day  Cool

And on that note, checking CPU heat sinks, to make sure fans are operating (because all cores but one (for GPU's bridge) are taking action) and quietly mining away while there is a possibility to mine

 Cool

It's just an integer from 1 to the maximum number of threads your computer can run. So if you have quadcore AMD or dual core intel with 4 hyperthreads, you can run '-t 4' to use max threads, or '-t 1' to use just one.

Usually a smaller number ends up being slightly better. Also if you want to use the computer for something else or keep heat buildup down (especially on a laptop) you should use a smaller number. You have to experiment with your setup to find the best.

But there is no plan to do this, is there. Compare this to XC, which is at least looking professional to some degree.
This just looks like it has been released in the hope that somehow it works.
Those days are gone IMHO
...
All we see is miners talking about mining...and that means the coin will die
