why would Verisend need encryption the mixing is so strong that you can't discern anything about the sender anyway

At least, $5 is a fair value for VRC.

$5 is a fair value within the next six months I would agree. But long term 2-3 years from now I do not think $100 is out of the question.  To reach $100 it only needs to be 6-7x higher than Darkcoin was at 2500k. And Darkcoin well... sucks.

why would Verisend need encryption the mixing is so strong that you can't discern anything about the sender anyway

Because the markets love it, look at XC and Crypt- they both offer encryption. There is no reason encryption cant be added even with VeriSMS. The encryption is performed between nodes. No need for encryption from sender to node, or even from node to receiver for that matter.

I know the devs will add it eventually though because they rock.

Even if technically speaking adding encryption is overboard and maybe not really required because as you say the mixing itself anonymizes the transaction enough. If its feasible without too much overhead then it should be done. Look at Apple, why are they STILL so successful? Lets face it Samsung phones are better now. But Apple design good looking phones and have a perception of quality.

Perception is reality, reality at the technical level only exists to us crypto enthusiasts. Try explaining to your average joe or a hedge fund why encryption is unnecessary and you will probably get a blank look.

I care more about perception than reality in markets. Just because I think VRC is going to the moon long term I will probably still sell (short) the market at certain price points in future if I think volume has dropped off too much.

Some stuff is going down on Mintpal...I think the secret is out!

There is no trust in alt coins because of too many scams. That is why in retrospect it would have made more sense to buy CRYPT first and capitalize on its rally before investing in VRC because CRYPT already had its anon function out and working. Though too late now to do so.

There probably is some smart person out there that bought XC early then sold at the peak then bought CRYPT early and sold over 100k then bought VRC. But it is not me, though I did buy XC early I held during the pump and didnt sell till it dropped to 100k. I also bought half my VRC at a really high price during the fontas pump (23k) and the other half at 8k. So I have made some really stupid mistakes but long term still looking good.

If anyone did go XC > CRYPT > VRC they will probably be holding a million VRC right now. And there are three wallets with over a million VRC so there you go  Tongue

Looking forward to the testing and results. But one qualm - what prevents other alts from easily copying these capabilities?

The VeriSend and VeriBit are not open source. Nobody else has our code.

We will release VeriSend API details but not VeriBit. That way there can be other mixing ringnodes that can be built based upon our framework so there is choice and openness with ANON but VeriBit is our own secret sauce and we won't be making it available for other coins.

You sure about that? CRYPT hasn't had anon. They have a paper with stick figures proposing it. Show me their anon implementation working :-D
