Note: MaWo, lordoliver and the rest are putting localization on hold for now. Here's why:
It seems that the core Nxt dev team got the idea that localization is a good feature to implement. Can't quite say where they got that idea from
, but Nxt localization is in the pipe and is coming soon.
I've been making all sort of big noises all over Bitcointalk with a link to this here thread in my sig. I even dared to venture out of these parts to the Bitcoin part of BTT.
As you can confirm by looking below this post, I'm explicitly branding NFD as a "gateway drug" to the Nxt world. In essence, I'm advertising NFD as a way of getting into Nxt-style generation-2 crypto
at a much cheaper price than for Nxt itself.
Crucial to this promotion strategy is NFD keeping compatible with Nxt as much as possible.
The NFD team's localization was proceeding well, but it's "custom-made." Thus, the team completing it at this stage would break compatibility with Nxt's infrastructure. At this stage in the game, we'd rather follow in Nxt's wake as much as possible for the above-mentioned promotional reason. So, MaWo and the rest have put our custom localization on hold and are waiting to integrate Nxt's own localization. Since localization is not a hot feature - it's merely useful
- this decision will not affect the price of your NFD.
Speaking of the price: I must have been doing something a little more than goofing off with all the time I've spent on BTT.
The price of your NFD now ranges between 3 and 4 satoshis, and the 24hr volume on Bter as of the time of this post is 3.3 BTC. So, the price performance isn't anything to celebrate - at the moment - but the volume pickup has been huge.
P.S.: A little bit of that volume is me buying at 3 satoshis. Since my NFD holdings are going to be >170 million by the time my buys go through, I have made explicitly sure that I've turned off forging for my account. I still remember the old 100 million limit: that number seems the best threshold for me to stop my forging. This way, everyone else has more of a chance to collect forging fees because I won't be a "forge hog."
