More trash from the Daily Mail. Only a small mention about the civilians killed and property destroyed by the Right Sector. And the article claims that the Donetsk People's Army was responsible for the Volnovakha incident, although it seems now that the Kolomoysky bandits were responsible for it. No mention about Kolomoysky in the article as well.

Any conflict with Transcarpathia will be fatal for Kiev's junta. The number of weapons here is larger than the number of people. It's better to give them what they want before they'll shoot them all.

I find it interesting to observe how such articles fail to notice the elephant in the room.

Statements from the article:
1. Russia seeks to to "grab" South-Eastern territories
(1a. historic fact: Russian territory of Novorossia was illegally annexed to Ukraine by Lenin in 1917-1918)
2. Transcarpathia was illegally annexed to Ukraine by Stalin after WWII.
4. Western minorities seek independence.
5. Kiev should preserve territorial integrity.

From all that it follows that UN-prescribed self-determination of peoples is bad, that restoring historical justice is bad, that keeping a country united against the will of the people by use of force is good.

“Dark times lie ahead of us and there will be a time when we must choose between what is easy and what is right.”
“We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided.”
“It is important to fight and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay, though never quite eradicated.”

Much more interesting that Transcarpathia ideologically closer to the eastern regions than its neighbors. This can be seen in the results of elections as well.

I wouldn't say it is ideologically closer to the Eastern regions. The Party of the Regions used to get 70%-90% of the vote in the East, while only around 30%-40% in Transacarpathia. The support is higher in the minority inhabited areas (Hungarian, Romanian).

I am not a big fan of the Daily Mail. But I don' think that they are any worse off than the other popular British trash, such as The Guardian. All of the major dailies in the UK do have a tarnished reputation. And DM is no different.

You're still reading that paper? That ain't no newspaper it's a piece of electronic toilet paper.

Wasn't it also illegally annexed by the Russians in 1944?
And I don't thin this is the only region with problems.

Just to make sure , you're referring to this one:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carpathian_Ruthenia
not the one the Romanians claim?

Yes, that one. Though the Romanian claim is valid as well.
In 1944 the war was still raging. It's what happened after 1945, which territories were annexed, or kept as trophies, that counts. As well as what the people who live on these territories want to do with them now.

The map of Europe was changed dramatically after the WW2. USSR gained new territories, while Germany lost its outlying regions. But the important factor is that, other countries also gained new territories (such as France and Poland).

If this is genuine, it's pretty serious.

The highlighted paragraph and the one above read:

Quote
According to the available information the illegal bandit groups of the coup government continue preparations to storm Slavjansk, using heavy artillery support.
With this in mind, the command of the resistance urges the citizens to evacuate so as to avoid massive causalities.

The leaflet itself describes what information the resistance have, based on the radio communication intercepts. It also informs which apeas suffered shelling from the coup government artillery. Semjonovka was already shelled from 30mm stations, while radio communications indicate that there is a preparation to shell Semjonovka from 152mm howitzers.

One round or shelling started after a French reporter in the city used flash, which was misinterpreted by the coup bandits as military activity.

A very good open letter, written by a teacher.

Quote
When I studied at school there were Russians, Ukrainians, Jews and Bulgarians in my class, and it didn’t matter – we were the citizens of one and the same country.

After the USSR collapsed, the Ukrainian Republic became Ukraine and started building its own independent state seeking to prove its self-sufficiency and ability to become a powerful and prosperous state. But it failed. Instead the state succeeded in splitting and embroiling the two people inhabiting it – Ukrainians and Russians. Being a teacher I can definitely state that in 23 years of independence there appeared a generation of young people brought up in a Russophobic spirit. It was made possible due to the anti-Russian policy of the state which tried to shift the discontent of its citizens from itself onto its external neighbour-state – Russia (the so-called “younger-brother syndrome”). But to make hatred to one’s fraternal people a country’s national idea is, to my mind, absurd and a crime against its own people.

This is exactly what Right Sector is all about.
