Bees Brothers was started when 3 young brothers working on a science project (to learn about bees) got out of control.  Now Bees Brothers dominates a significant part of theirs and the rest of the family’s lives.  

Having a strong libertarian philosophy in the family combined with the boys’ interests in computers and technology, it was only natural that a decentralized “currency” like Bitcoin be used with Bees Brothers.    

We specialize in making Honey Caramels, and other products of the hive such as raw honey, beeswax soaps and lotions, and soon beeswax candles.

Products:  Our main product is Honey Caramels.  They are made with honey from our own bees without any corn syrup or white sugar and made in a commercial kitchen.  Each box contains about a ¼ lb of honey caramels (16 caramels individually wrapped).

We make 5 flavors of Honey Caramels:

Honey: This is a traditional caramel with a distinct honey flavor.

Salted: This is a honey caramel sprinkled with crystals of all-natural sea salt mined from an ancient sea bed in Central Utah.

Almond: Honey caramel with toasted almonds.

Raspberry: Real red raspberries are cooked with the caramel to create a delicious fruity caramel.

Chocolate: Rich dark chocolate nibs (chopped roasted cocoa beans) combined with chocolate honey caramel.

(We also offer a Variety Box that has a mixture of all the different Honey Caramels).

Another popular item we make is Honey Roasted Almonds.  This does have some white sugar in the ingredients, but the honey is plentiful and dominates the taste while complementing the crunchy almonds.

Box of assorted caramels and free lip balm received.  Items were exactly as described and packaging was excellent.  It was less than 48 hours from the time I placed my order to having the product in my hands.  Definitely a great seller.

The best quality beeswax comes from the wax cappings during the honey extraction process.  I just made a batch of Votive and Tea Light Candles from last fall’s extraction.  The wax color is a bright yellow, full of the wonderful smell that only beeswax has.  Cleaning up the wax is extremely time consuming, so I don’t make candles very often.

The Votive candles are 2” tall and 1 ¾” wide.  Approximately 14-15 hours of burn time. (0.54 BTC each)


The Tea Light candles are the typical tea light size and burn at least 4 hours. (1.0 BTC for 6)

I just received my order! Because I was the first person to order in bitcoins, I received BOTH a 4 oz jar of honey and the lipbalm in addition to my order.

As for the caramels, like I said, I ordered raspberry and chocolate. The chocolate caramels are sweet on the outside, and bitter on the inside. It reminds me of a certain kind of chocolate bar that I can't remember off the top of my head, except better and more flavorful! Petty that they're so small compared to said chocolate bar. Guess I'll have to order more (Don't worry, the caramels are plenty big for caramels. I'd guess about one and a half mini Tootsie Rolls long, and about as wide.)

The Raspberry is a strong sweet explosion! They are not for the weak sweet tooth. If you like your sweets more neutral, go with the chocolate (or maybe the plain or almond, but I didn't order any to try, so I don't know). Luckily, I enjoy candy on both sides of the spectrum! My only complaint is that I couldn't really taste the raspberry, but that might just be because I don't have any plain caramels to compare to.

It is perfect for ordering in bulk and then giving the individual boxes as gifts. Not sure how long they stay, though. I suspect that I'll never find out

We are not sure how long they last either.  There are no preservatives in them so the fresher the better.  We have some that we made a year ago and keep in a zip-lock bag at room temperature.  Every month or so we try a couple and so far they are fine. However, we are in Utah where the humidity is very low.  Because honey is so full of sugar, it absorbs moisture.  If they are stored around higher humidity, they won't last as long.  The high sugar content of honey also makes what moisture there is unavailable to bacteria and molds, which is why honey can last for centuries. Obviously the caramels don't do well in high heat (like left in a closed car during the summer).


For smaller gifts, we have a $3 bag of caramels that make perfect "Thank You" gifts.  We have an order next week for a wedding that wants several of the smaller caramel bags.

I ordered the almond, plain & chocolate flavors.  The almond was my favorite.  It had a complete candy bar taste to it and I highly recommend.  The plain was also very good.  My wife, who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth, tasted the plain caramel and said, "this is excellent."  The chocolate had a very dark rich flavor, I could tell they used high quality dark chocolate.  After having tasted these, I wish I would have tried the salted.  I can see another order of perhaps almond/salted/plain/chocolate in my future.

How much for a jar of honey?

A note on honey: It is rather heavy stuff so the shipping can be just as expensive as the honey…doubling the price.  If you want your honey to help you with resisting your local allergies or hay fever, then you need to get local, raw, unfiltered honey.  Eating your local honey that hasn’t been heated and filtered will contain pollen grains from the plants that are giving you trouble and will help you build up some resistance to them.  I recommend buying directly from the bee keeper to know for sure you are not getting honey that has been “packaged” locally but is mixed with honeys from other states and countries and has been heated at high temperatures (like much of what you can buy cheaply in grocery stores).

 
With that said, buying honey from different locations is really fun!  Each honey is unique and will have a variety of different flavors.  Again, buy directly from the beekeeper if you can.  We are more than happy to sell ours.

Received my order today,and nirvana! the caramels melt on your tongue with a sweet aftertaste reminiscent of, um, good stuff! The honey was a sweet delight that could not be of this planet, and the wife adores the lotion bar. Thank you for this after a crappy day at work!
