I have heard that people claim that Bitcoin can't be real until it is being spent. For this reason I think that Bitcoin is not a currency. Right now I feel like it is an investment, more like gold. But not even like gold. I think of it more as digital shiny things, like what gold was before it was "gold". I think that someday it will be a currency and most of us are waiting for the price to stabilize before we use it as so.
We have to remember this is a wild revolution, a totally new way of thinking about money. Until now everybody only used the money forced upon them by governments. Now we are creating our own. People haven't tasted freedom yet so they are not even sure if they want it or not.
That being said, there isn't really any place around me to spend bitcoin. If there was I would use it more to support the platform and then replace what I spent when the price dips.

I do. Sometimes I pay my bills with it using the bittiraha.fi service, that can be used to make payments into European bank accounts. E-banking systems here are very handy but that service is even faster.
Sometimes I make transactions with friends overseas and then I use bitcoins exclusively, bank transfers outside Europe are not very convenient. Also I've used a bitcoin payment gateway for the last couple of eBay/Amazon transactions because it was more convenient than PayPal.
Also I guess many people here have used Silk Road to buy something nice but the won't tell it here, not the more established members at least. Most Finnish bitcoiners under 40 that I know of have done it, now there is even a dedicated Finnish version of the Silk Road, but I guess also that it is more popular here than in some other countries, because the traditional channels for those things aren't the best here, in a small and sparsely populated country.

There are a few of new silk roads, and they aren't that famous (for a lack of better term), which is good.

hI, Seems like the poll is showing it all Most of the people are just like squirrels with BTC. My method is that: I spend no more then 50% of my all BTC stash and keep the rest in a safe place for the future. This is how i use my BTC and also keeping for the grandsons BR

I use my bitcoin... otherwise what is the point?
It's a currency so I use it to buy goods whenever I can get them for btc.
I've bought office furniture from Overstock.com, steam games and a win 8.1 pro key here on the forums.
A MMO - The Elder Scrolls Online: Imperial boxed edition. For this I had to go to gyft and buy a $100 gamestop gift card and make the purchase from gamestop. It actually was cheaper this way because I had gyft points from buying 2x $50 Rixty cards to buy some credits in the game Rift.

I voted no, but there is no point in my case because I have about 0.02btc and I'm not doing anything to increase the amount D:
To be serious I bought some btc just to learn in a direct way about this world.

My adult store has turned over nearly 50 BTC it its first year so people do use it to buy stuff. We don't take Bitpay and even pay our supplier in BTC so yes it an be done and people do spend the coins. Shameless plug for Bitcoin Sex Toys.

all my coins are mined altcoins converted
Have bought a few games for steam, still hoping more places accepting them (or at least have trusted sites that help to convert it) so I can use more services without entering CC info.
