You are right this is a major shitstorm now. Especially if people's details were not encrypted. I believe the most they have is my full name which I am not afraid to reveal. The fact that the website is already offline is very fishy. You are right this is a major shitstorm now. Especially if people's details were not encrypted. I received the same phishing email. Clearly, Cryptsy has been hacked and all the user information stolen.
If you have used the same password on other sites, change your passwords now.
What is scary, they have all the user verification data, such as proof of ID, proof of address etc.
Then again, this might all just be staged in order to hide the fact that the owner of Cryptsy has run off with the BTC before his estranged wife gets her hands on them.

BTW, some people were complaining to me that there aren't enough coins for sale and they are having difficulty accumulating meaningful quantities at current prices. So, if you have <200k, please try to sell them during the next two weeks.
Is that why the price has gone lower now? It is now at $0.019 per coin right now (according to Coinmarketcap) Perhaps it is time for CSC to be added to other exchanges to increase trading activity. Getting added to Poloniex will be a wonderful idea. I have started voting in it for the addition of CasinoCoin. Join me and together we can move the price up. coinmarketcap is not happy about Cryptsy's current problems. So, they stopped taking prices from cryptsy and de-listed them from the exchange list until they get their act together. The lower price reflects the prices taken from alterdice or alcurex. Cryptsy is an absolute shambles right now. To add to the ever continuing discussion, .... CSC is by no means a short term money maker, ... if you are only into trading and making a short term profit you are looking in the wrong place! Of course it would be nice if CSC picks up in value but if CSC stays arround $0.02 per coin for the next 2 months i am fine with that as well. We are creating a lot of new software and features here that allow this coin to move forward in the future and we are working in the background on a mindset change for an entire industry. Invest in CSC for the longer term, say 1+ years, and not hoping for a quick win in 1 or 2 months as that will not happen. Sure CSC needs to be able to be traded but we do not need Cryptsy for that. Currently AlcurEX and AlterDice stepped up to the challenge so why the rush to get more exchanges? This coins sole purpose is not to be traded on exchanges as are 99% of the the other crypto coins out there but we are working on it being used in a real life application. Therefor its future value will not be determined by the grace of the traders but by a multi billion market that is looking for a tool/technology that helps them solve some industry problems. I wonder why most people still do not grasp that concept ..... Will it succeed? I do not know, the future will tell. Nobody guarantees anything here, ... we just indicate the future potential value. What i do know is that the most stock exchanges made some 3-5% profit over the last year. If you invested some $1000 you would have made some $100 on that if you were lucky and had some dividends as well. If you now invest some $1000 into CSC it could well be that in 5 years you can celebrate your early retirement or you could have lost your investment, .... are you willing to take that change? Ohh and on the Cryptsy problems, ... we already started saying early november that you should NOT LEAVE YOUR COINS ON CRYPTSY so if you did and you loose them i am very sorry for that but by no means a big surprise ....

Cryptsy is pretty close to closing up entirely. Is there a rough estimate how many CSC they will have when it happens ? They might have a substantial amount that might cause issues in the future (or at least give them a lot of money). So if you can, get your coins out. Not only will you get your money but you will also prevent them from having it.

Cryptsy BTC wallet: https://www.walletexplorer.com/wallet/Cryptsy.comToo bad again, the industry continue to mislead people .... this time not me, because I learned with GOX and GAW, (unfortunately this limited me the resources to CSC, but still I'm glad to get the carriage on "economic" of the CSC train ....)

So has Cryptsy became another Mt. Gox? This is something similar that what happened before in the past and damaged Bitcoin's reputation. That is why it is advised not to leave any of your coins balances on an exchange and move them to a safe place like a paper wallet immediately. Only deposit the amount of coins that you would want to trade and after a successful one, withdraw everything right away.

This warning now up at Cryptsy:
Important System Notification
Phishing Attempt:: There is a phishing attempt going around prompting users to go to a cryptsy-refund website. Do not go to this website or give your login details on any website other than the official Cryptsy website. There were two avenues of the Phishing attempt. One was via SMS, using our provider Twilio and gained entry into our logs and sending ability via a weak password on that account. The passwords on this account have been secured. The other avenue was via email using the same mailing service we use (Mailgun), but was not sent using our account. It is uncertain where the email list for this Phishing attempt was attained from, as we do not show any unauthorized access to our Mailgun account nor our internal systems. We are still investigating this matter. If you were a victim of this phishing, you should log into your account at Cryptsy immediately and do the following: 1. Change your password and enable 2fa if you don’t already have it enabled. 2. Check your pending withdrawals, we currently have withdrawals disabled so if you see one that shouldn’t be there you can request to have it cancelled. Regarding other issues that have been apparent at Cryptsy for the last couple months, I will be making another post to explain what has been happening in the next couple days. BigVern UNTIL WE ARE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXTENT OF THE PHISHING ATTEMPT, ALL WITHDRAWALS ARE PAUSED
Nice cover story...

That's the dust problem cryptsy has always had. The don't merge inputs. One time I withdrew 500k and it took over 200 withdrawals and 48 hours. I wrote a scrypt to repeatedly submit withdrawals whenever a balance was detected. If you want, I can provide a copy.

Maybe 500k plus maybe 1 - 2 million in people's accounts. I don't see much on the book these days. Everyone, get your coins out.

The problem is they change all the time. you could try depositing a coin and following the transaction to see where it lands. Maybe with a bit of luck you'll see it hit a cold wallet that has a large balance.

The CasinoCoin web site at http:casinocoin.org still touts the support of Cryptsy. Dev, it might be time to change that .... ¿ What other exchange(s) are actually supporting Casinocoin today ?

Thanks for the heads up it's been removed now. There is two other exchanges currently. Alcurex (supports multiple pairs) https://alcurex.org/index.php/crypto/indexAlterdice (dice and an exchange in one playform!) https://alterdice.com/market/csc_btc
